feather_your_nestFeather Your Nest is my all time favorite consignment store. This is unlike any other I have ever seen, and believe me I have visited many consignment shops over the years. I am a huge budget shopper, which is very important for everyone these days .At Feather Your Nest, you’re guaranteed to find something new every visit, something that catches your eye. The items you come across are so astonishing, you will not be disappointed. I visit there often just to satisfy my curiosity. I have learned that if you see something you really love and talk yourself out or getting it at that moment, when you change your mind and return for it, you will find that it has been sold. This is heart breaking! The owners are super nice though, and they will try to find another one for you if at all possible. They will call to let you know when certain items of interest have come in. The friendly country atmosphere definitely tops it off. Overall your experience here is well worth a drive. There are four rooms per building. There are three buildings to explore. Two of which are located side by side. The other one is directly across the street, down by the riverfront so you can make a day of it and enjoy all the scenery. Take a walk along the Ohio River and visit the other small shops around. You can stop at one of the wonderful restaurants overlooking the river for lunch after finding all kinds of treasures in the store. Looking for other destinations to make a day of? Visit globalYP.net, local directory listings available online, to find your next stop.

Posted by Keri W. on August 31, 2009
Legal & Financial / No Comments

pauline_rosenPauline Rosen and her associate Krista Kyle are both excellent and compassionate attorneys. The office specializes in family law and mediation. They deal with divorce proceedings, custody agreements and spousal support. Going through a divorce is always difficult, no matter how amicable. Ms. Rosen and Ms. Kyle do a great job assisting you through the process. They are kind and attentive and really help you understand the ins and outs of the process. Unlike some attorneys, Ms. Rosen and Ms. Kyle try to make sure they’re available to their clients in their time of need. They provide excellent mediation services, as well as the typical legal services of a law firm. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else more highly in the South Bay. Pauline is a fearless defender of her clients and makes sure that everything is handled in a quick, professional and fair way. She makes the process as easy as it can be, which is essential when going through a messy divorce. She makes a real effort to protect her clients and that’s so important. To top it all off, there is an adorable dog that belongs to someone in the office, so if you have to bring your kids with you to visit your attorney, there’s a little extra benefit for them. simple_pleasuresSimple Pleasures Books and Gifts in Ashland, Virginia (at 10180 Lakeridge Pkwy, Suite #104) is a specialty bookstore catering to women. It’s a warm and inviting store that welcomes everyone through the door. However, the bookstore was opened by Brenda Seward and her three daughters specifically to appeal to women clientele. So the inventory and titles carried in this unique little shop have been handpicked with love, care and attention. Currently, there are approximately 1,000 titles on their shelves, with more than half being romance novels. Ms. Seward and her daughters are avid readers, and feel they have their finger on the pulse of what local women are reading. Although the target customers at Simple Pleasures Books and Gifts are women, the store carries books that will appeal to men, as well as a variety of gift items, including candles, chocolates, personalized bookmarks and note cards. Customers who stop in to browse can avail themselves of a selection of coffee, teas and pastries while they decide which titles to buy. Being situated in a busy and growing shopping area, the store is garnering enough traffic for them to start a book discussion group – for women, of course (although men will be welcome). They also accept used books for in-store credit. This is a great little place for networking and finding new books to read. To find more great little places, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Retail Stores / No Comments

spca_rummageSPCA Rummage (at 943 Preston Ave) is the greatest thrift store in Charlottesville, VA. They have just about everything you could think of, from golf clubs to video games to clothes. It seems that every time I go, I end up finding something awesome, even if I didn’t intend on buying anything at all. On a recent trip to help a friend of mine acquire a kitchen table, I ended up walking away with a black light and a new stereo. The store just seems to have a unique ability to amaze you every time you walk in and you always want to buy more. Although they do not allow customers to haggle down prices, the ones set in place are already the cheapest you’ll ever find. What’s even better is that all their proceeds go to the Charlottesville Albermarle SPCA charity, which tries to find safe homes for pets. They also have an area where you can play with the cats that are up for adoption. The nicest people work there and you can tell that they really care about what they do. SPCA Rummage is a cornerstone in Charlottesville and loved by all its residents. I don’t know what we would do without it. To help save animals in need everywhere and find a great deal, take a look at the SPCA Rummage. To find other things in your area, visit globalYP.net, online directory listings.

Cheeburger Cheeburger In San Diego, CA: Your Food Exactly How You Want It

Posted by Keri W. on August 31, 2009
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

cheeburgerThis particular Cheeburger Cheeburger is located in Carmel Mountain (at 12002 Carmel Mtn Rd) of San Diego, CA and beyond a doubt your typical ‘natives-only’ restaurant. Cheeburger Cheeburger is the ‘Soup Plantation’ of burgers and salads. If you get a burger, there are five sizes to choose from ranging in size from the “Classic”, their ‘beginner burger’ at 5.5 ounces ($5.59) , to their “Famous One Pounder”, starting at 20 ounces ($11.49). Next, you choose whether you want your burger medium, medium well, or well done. Then, there are thirty-one different toppings to choose from when it comes to creating your burger. The toppings range from your typical lettuce to sun dried tomatoes and even peanut butter. Their salads are similar. You choose from six different base salads and add as many as twenty toppings. They even offer eleven dressings. It’s hard not to order something you like when you customize it exactly how you want it. Cheeburger Cheeburger also offers a few other items on their menu; chicken, veggie burgers, B.L.T.s, in addition to a kids menu. If you haven’t customized your meal enough, order a shake or malt. There are 110 different flavors to choose from, not to mention they are willing to mix and match. Overall, I was happy with my meal. The onion rings were excellent and the burger was prepared exactly as I had asked for. If you find yourself asking where things are, visit globalYP.net, yellow pages available online.
