Schnepf Ray Farms is a huge working farm at in Queen Creek, AZ. They have many different features, attractions and events. This is definitely a must see for every family! The farm has over 200 acres of U-Pick fruits and vegetables. We love peach picking! The fruit is delicious and very cheap. The kids love to pick their own fruit. The farm also features a working train, and several playgrounds for the kids. They also have a huge corn maze, a petting zoo, and amusement park-style carnival rides. We love the special events they have there. Every year we go to the Chili & Pumpkin Festival held in October. There you can pick pumpkins, watch shows, get your face painted, make candles, create a scarecrow or go through their haunted corn maze. Each spring, we make sure to attend the Easter Egg Hunt. They do a fabulous job of hiding eggs for the kids! They break the egg hunt down into age groups, so that toddlers are spared from getting trampled by the older kids. In turn, the older kids are challenged to find eggs in a mini forest. The children who visit always come away with a huge basket full of Easter eggs and toys! This farm is a great resource for families of the Phoenix area! To uncover more fun-filled places, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

The Museum of Science and Industry, located in Chicago, IL, is quite the historical landmark. In addition to its amazing exhibits, the building itself was made for the World’s Fair- Colombian Exposition. It is the only remaining building from the World’s Fair and offers an exhibit and tour strictly on this event. I found the tour to be very informative! It provided me with history and insight. After visiting, I have a more appreciative view of the city of Chicago. The other exhibits in the museum are just as interesting. They have a section of the museum that is made up of old buildings, sort of resembling an old town, complete with brick roads. There is also an old-style theater that made me feel like I was literally living in that time period. They also have many different aircrafts hanging from the ceiling and a full size submarine as well. One of my favorite things they offer happens to be sold at the gift shop- the astronaut ice cream (the type that is freeze dried)! It is delicious! If you’re in the Chicago area, and have time on your hands, definitely pay a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry. There is so much to see and learn! Renaissance Fun Park in Louisville, KY is an amusement park, smaller in size but gigantic in fun! Kids of all ages can enjoy the park whether you’re under the age of 5 or in your 30’s! Some of the fun activities include: Go Karts, Laser Tag, Putt Putt Golf, and a full-size arcade where you can win tickets to cash in for cool prizes. If you play enough to work up an appetite, you can enjoy a delicious treat at the snack bar such as pizza, burgers, fries, sodas and more. The park is open all year long, though during the winter months are limited to weekends. You can even hold events at the park, such as school functions or church gatherings. They also have party rooms where you can have birthday celebrations and let the fun last all day long! Another great thing about the park is that during certain times, a percentage of the proceeds taken in will go to awesome charities. Last but not least, there is an awesome program called “park perks” where you can sign up to be a member. The membership includes free tokens, as well as invitations to members-only events. I would highly suggest that you visit this place as a family-fun outing or a night out with friends if you are ever in Louisville. I promise you will definitely enjoy yourself! Marcy’s Clayground, located in Powell, OH, is a fun little shop where you and your friends can make your own pottery. I recently attended a bachelorette party held here, and we all had a blast! First, everyone picks out a piece of pottery, which has been baked, but not painted. Each piece is separately priced, so every guest can choose the piece in his or her price range. The price you pay for the amount of fun you have is reasonable. Most medium sized pieces are ten to fifteen dollars. The selection of different kinds of pottery is phenomenal. You could choose a pot, a dish, a figurine of various shapes, and more. After you choose your pottery, you are led to the paint room, where every color of paint you can imagine is available. They provide all of the painting tools you need, including brushes, sponges, and other items. When everyone has finished painting and decorating, the pieces are kept at the store for a week to be glazed. I was so happy with my finished product. It meant more because I made it, and as an added bonus for the bride, I remember her wedding every time I see the piece of pottery. I would recommend Marcy’s Clayground to anyone looking to have a unique, entertaining party for any occasion and with any age group. The Kentucky Coffeetree Cafe is a unique local coffeehouse located in the heart of historic downtown Frankfort, KY. The downtown area of Frankfort has become a popular lunch spot for the many state workers, and also is becoming more active in the evenings with many new local restaurants and shops opening. The Coffeetree is a unique little old-fashioned coffee shop that is a great place to hang out with friends, alone with a good book, or run in and out for a quick cup of coffee. The Coffeetree cafe offers a wide variety of coffees, teas, hot chocolates, and other specialty drinks. Many of the coffees are fair trade and organic so you can feel good about what you consume, and for supporting a local business. The Coffeetree also offers many sweet treats to have with your coffee, including scones, biscotti, brownies, and other desserts. At lunch, delicious staples such as salads, soups, sandwiches, and quiches are available. There is ample seating inside, and also tables and chairs available outside on the sidewalk for those warmer summer evenings. The Coffeetree Cafe also hosts local musicians on Friday and Saturday nights on a small stage, and also often holds poetry readings, book clubs, community groups, and many other events. This is a great place to go, with a unique and relaxing ambiance to escape the same old “corporate coffee” available at other coffee shops. Red Kiln Pottery Gallery is a small pottery studio based in Salt Lake City, UT. The establishment has many pottery wheels and a large selection of clay to choose from. The people are friendly and the atmosphere encourages creativity. The walls are covered with amazing creations from their very own members. Red Kiln offers classes for beginners. If you already know how to throw a pot, you can simply purchase studio time, some clay, and even have unlimited access to the studio with the purchase of a sixty dollar membership. Firing a pot is relatively cheap, costing about five to ten dollars. I have not found any places cheaper than this. If you are a beginner, I strongly recommend taking their classes. The instructors are very friendly, helpful, and have lots of experience. There are not very many pottery studios in Salt Lake City. This is one of the few that offer studio time, minus the instruction for people who already know how to throw clay, but do not want to sit through instruction. Customers can either pay ten dollars an hour of studio time or can purchase a month for sixty dollars, which gives a person unlimited access to the studio. Those enrolled in the classes offered have priority on the pottery wheels. I strongly recommend Red Kiln Pottery Gallery for beginners and professionals. Due to being family owned for more than 50 years, the proprietor and staff of Rialto Theater and Video Store are familiar and friendly with every customer and are often able to recommend movies that fit the customer’s taste. The store has reasonable prices and rental periods, but usually only a few copies of the most demanded new releases. Amazingly, this small town store still carries movies on VHS which rent for nearly nothing, catering to older residents used to that format or those who do not have a DVD player. Every Monday is 2 for 1 at Rialto, which allows customers to rent 1 of any item and rent another item for free at the same time. They also hand out free popcorn with every rental! There are three screens at the attached movie theater, one of very large proportions with surround sound. The other two are smaller, but also have surround sound installed. There are only a few of the more modern, comfortable theater seats installed in each theater, but the older seats do just as well. Concession prices are very reasonable and there are many opportunities to save money on movie entrance fees! Matinees are only $5 while regular run times will only cost a movie-goer $7. Local college students are allowed in to any movie for the $5 fee if they show their student ID. Seniors are also given the same discount. If you are looking for a charming, family friendly location in NY where you can spend your winter holiday season then Mohonk Mountain House is for you. Mohonk is an all inclusive resort which really provides a quality family getaway. The food is great and the surroundings are just stunning, including mountain views and a cliff lined lake. There is a spa and an ice rink on the premises. The accommodations are comfortable and reminiscent in style of those seen in movies from the early 1900’s. Some of the loveliest aspects of spending the holidays there are the beautiful decorations lining the various public rooms. There is a room where several fireplaces invite you to sit and relax with the option of enjoying afternoon tea and cookies. If you enjoy being active, you can engage in some hiking, snow tubing or snow shoeing during your stay in order to work up a healthy appetite. The Holiday Brunches are so enticing that it is worth getting up from your cozy bed before 2 in the afternoon if you are a late sleeper. There is also a game room where the family can get together and play some board games, or if reading is more the thing in your family then visit the library. There is a quaint fireplace in the library and comfortable chairs to snuggle into. I have been to Amazing Tone Music in Raleigh, NC several times for their regular open mic nights to see what they have. They bring in a nice cadre of performers from all over the Raleigh area who play for nothing and do it well! The supplies offered are pretty standard, but what stands out are the range and offerings of different lessons. They have partnered with amazing musicians from all over the area to provide future musicians with private lessons! The have a small coffee lounge with free wireless Internet, as well! It is a music shop with its own coffee bar! They have nice private lesson rooms and the stage is perfect! They have even wired it to record both sound and tape for later playback of the performers. What a nice addition that you will not find at other music stores in the area. Amazing Tones Music really lives up to its name and is providing a great service for both current and future looking to learn or buy what they need! Forgo the larger chain stores and make the trip to north Raleigh to get your music needs met! I am heading back for another open mic!
