Guitars Of The Stars Has A Great Selection In Collinsville, IL

If you are looking for your favorite star’s guitar, then you have to head to Guitars of the Stars in Collinsville, Illinois. With a good selection of rare and hard to find guitars, you are sure to find unique pieces that you wouldn’t see anywhere else. But the guitars are not the only great thing about this store. With a totally unconventional store layout, the owner is able to test his guitars and even give lessons on a full size, fully equipped stage that he custom built in the main room of his store. Students are given the opportunity to learn how to play guitar in a real “gig” setting with real musicians that are brought in to play with them! And if this were not enough already, the owner produces his own line of hand made amps under the name BoobTone Amplification. This is due to using older vacuum tubes often called “boob tubes” which have been replaced by cheaper and easier to produce parts by most large scale amp manufacturers. The sound these tubes produce however is second to none, and is easily worth the increased cost to a user who truly values high sound quality. With custom amps, rare guitars, and unique lessons that you cannot get anywhere else, Guitars of the Stars is sure to be a favorite for any guitar lover! With local directory listings online, globalYP.net is sure to be a favorite of yours.

Café Conversion At Beans In The Belfry In Brunswick, MD

beans in the belfryBeans in the Belfry in Brunswick, MD is one of the most unique establishments I have had the pleasure of frequenting. The first impression is the unusual setting – a historic church in downtown Brunswick! With stained-glass windows and a balcony in place, Beans in the Belfry is a lovely place to explore while having a bite to eat or visiting with friends over tea. The café is set up casually, with an assortment of comfortable couches, chairs, and benches to suit any visitor. Books abound and wireless Internet is available for those wishing to do work or networking in a relaxed environment. On most nights of the week, there is live music from local and traveling bands of all sorts. Most of the regular musician’s tunes are available on CDs that are sold in the café. It is especially fun to watch the music and occasional dancing from up in the balcony! Children are always delighted to enjoy music and to play with games and dress-up clothes found throughout the place. The most important part of all –food and drinks – leave nothing to be desired! Everything is homemade, from sandwiches to desserts to drinks to homemade chili. The menu includes a variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches as well as many different teas, coffees, and specialty drinks. The desserts are scrumptious and usually include such selections as berry pies, brownies, and cheesecakes. Prices are refreshingly affordable for such wonderful food, setting, and company. I always recommend Beans in the Belfry as my favorite place to eat whenever friends and family visit. It is a one-of-kind place that is an absolute must-see. Get Lost In The Thrill At Over The Edge Games & Comics In Fairhaven, MA

over the edge games and comicsOver the Edge Games & Comics is a gaming, comic and more store, located in Fairhaven, MA. I am into comics and it is my regular LCS (local comic store). They have a great selection of new comics that come in every Wednesday. They have a pull list service for their regular customers, but they have a great selection for anyone who just might happen to drive by the store. Over the Edge often has a sale on back issues and trade paperbacks. While I have been in larger stores that seem pretty cold, the employees at Over the Edge Games & Comics always greet everyone and try to help out anyone who might be looking for a particular book. Although I am a comic person, it is refreshing to see the many people who visit this store are interested in gaming. I do not know about gaming all that much, but they have many different games and tournaments going on throughout the week. They also have a huge Magic group that plays there often. It is amazing to see what some of these figures and cards sell for. They are selling them at a reasonable price, however, made apparent by their loyal following. This store also offers to buy and sell video games for a customer. All in all, Over the Edge Games & Comics is a great place to visit! Find Great Collectibles At Third Planet Comics In Houston, TX

third planet comicsThird Planet Comics is a comic shop located in the southern part of Houston, TX. The building is an interesting shade of light blue. Parking is located at the rear of the establishment. I have not really ever had a problem with overcrowding, so this is always a plus in my opinion. Once you walk into the store, you are always greeted by one of the helpful employees. This is one of Third Planet’s strong points- employees. This business’s employees are friendly and helpful. I have never encountered rude or pushy staff members. They are knowledgeable without being obnoxious. The atmosphere of Third Planet is laid back. I enjoy shopping here. There is a nice selection of merchandise, as well. From action figures to comics, you can indulge your sci-fi craving without logging on to a website and having to wait for the mailman. The prices are very reasonable. The comics are arranged nicely, rather than stashed away in some dark dusty room. I have managed to snag a few great issues of some comics I have been eyeing for a while. They accept the universal currency of cash and also the ever-popular plastic credit cards. If you are ever in Houston, stop on by. You will definitely be happy you did! To find other unique shops like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Book Soup, A Local Landmark In Los Angeles, CA

book soupThere’s nothing like Book Soup, the eclectic book store on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, CA. Book Soup looks like it was pieced together in the 1950s and let all the best books in the world congregate until the right customer for each one wandered in. While waiting for the customers, celebrity sightings are frequent. It is the local bookstore to neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills and West Hollywood. Just yards away from Whisky-a-Go-Go, The Viper Room and the brown “Welcome to Beverly Hills” sign, Book Soup deserves historical landmark status. If you are picturing a neatly cataloged, mainstream bookstore, think again. Part of the fun at this store is finding what you want and then discovering untold treasures during the search. There are travel guides, photo books, barely-published novels, poetry, biographies, cards, posters, and celebrity books signed by all the stars that stop by for a book signing. On the off chance that none of the tens of thousands of books inside strike a person’s fancy, there is also a newsstand outside where the beautiful glossy magazines still look elegant. Book Soup is a book lover’s dream, paradise for any reader, and heaven for those looking for something to read under the covers or on the beach. They just do not make stores like this any more! Wild Country Will Get You Dancing In Collinsville, IL

Posted by Keri W. on March 05, 2010
Arts & Entertainment, Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Wild Country is by far the best country music night club in the Collinsville area. I went to Wild Country for the first time a few months ago, and boy, I had such a good time. Admittedly, I am not a big country music enthusiast (however, I will listen to it from time to time on occasion), but I really like to dance (or at least try!) so I went with a few of my friend a few months ago. From the moment you walk in you can feel the energy of this place. The night I went, there was a live band playing, and lots of people out on the dance floor (I believe they have a live band on Friday and Saturday nights). In addition to the great atmosphere, the drinks were relatively cheap. One thing you should know before you go to Wild Country is that this place is a country line dancing club. Everyone on the dance floor is doing it. Due to the cheap drinks I eventually got out there and gave it a go. All of the people out there were very friendly and willing to teach me a thing or two about line dancing. All in all, I had an amazing time there and highly recommend it to anyone! Even if you’re not a big country music fan like I am. Anyone can figure out globalYP.net, a user friendly online directory.

Ruby’s Clay Studio Is Unique Experience In San Francisco, CA

Posted by tluke on February 27, 2010
Arts & Entertainment / No Comments

Ruby's Clay StudioRuby’s Clay Studio is unique. It is a surprisingly large ceramic studio located in the Castro district of San Francisco. Ruby’s offers classes for wheel throwing and/or hand building. There is a lot of history at Ruby’s. The owner started this studio with a mission to reach out to the disadvantaged, and that mission has thrived ever since. Classes are small with lots of individual attention. Students are welcome to use the facility from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days per week. This is the only ceramic studio which offers this much studio time. Students can also learn how to fire electric and gas kilns. This is also the only studio in the Bay Area which permits students, under careful supervision, to use gas kilns. Ruby’s food safe glazes and firings are done by holders of masters degrees in ceramics. We have the highest standards. Rubys also has community members with lockers. The waiting list for this is about one year. Ruby’s provides Cone 10 high fire glazes for students and community members. This is also unusual. Most studios are either low fire or fire to Cone 5. A cone 10 glaze is probably thicker than low fire glazes. This gives the glaze more depth and variation. It also makes the finished item heavier. Rubys is therefore known for heavy and intensely complicated glazes. Ruby’s also has openings where a student or professional can show her/his work in a small gallery. Rubys also has openings and parties with wine. A feature usually not permitted in schools. Rubys is a most unusual and enjoyable studio. Time To Unwind At Caveman’s Bar & Billiards In Mint Hill, NC

caveman's bar & billiardsCaveman’s Bar & Billiards in Mint Hill, NC is my kind of hangout. The food is tasty, well above average bar food (fried pickles are my choice!) and there are plenty of pool tables. The sandwiches are well-portioned, classic standards. One can also choose from a variety of hamburgers, BBQ, and fried chicken meals. Although the beer selection is not very extensive, there is still a good variety. The friendly staff is quick to volunteer a tasty alternative if your favorite brew is not to be found. The pool tables have plenty of room around them, so there is no jostling other patrons while lining up your shot. There are also darts, virtual golf and shuffleboard, if that suits you better. On Friday and Saturday nights different local bands have a chance to play on a small stage area, often bringing people out to the dance floor. Additionally, there are plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure, so you do not have to miss any games or races. It is easy to become a regular at this vibrant joint. Know that your will always be welcomes with a smile and a frosty mug. To find other relaxing hangouts like this, visit glboalYP.net, an online directory.
