Last year we decided J & L Catering on Grove St. in Newton, MA was going to provide the food for our wedding. We had so much fun at a tasting session before the wedding in which we were able to try numerous things that were to be served at our reception. It seemed like everything we tried was delicious. The owners, John and Laurel, are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They helped us make a menu that fit our budget and we were excited about. Our wedding was an outdoor wedding and most of the food was grilled right then and there. In spite of all the challenges of cooking outdoors, and a bad grill we rented from another company, the food was amazing! So many of our guests commented on the wonderful food they had eaten. Catering is usually one of the largest expenses you will have when planning a wedding. If I had to do it all over again I do not think I would change a thing- except for the grill we rented! They went above and beyond the call of service for us. In fact, they were so concerned about us having a good time at our celebration that we were not aware of any problems with the grill until after the wedding. Therefore, my wife and I highly recommend J & L Catering to anyone having a wedding with no regrets! To find more professional services like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Tryst Coffee House Bar & Lounge in Washington, DC is a great coffee shop that mixes the best java with a comfortable atmosphere and good music. Occasionally, I have gone in and the music has been some sort of strange yodeling. But most time, it is a great place to study, meet with friends or pick up a date for the weekend. The coffee shop has a full menu that contains sandwiches, drinks, teas, and their famous coffee. I would recommend trying a bit of everything, as I have yet to eat anything there that was less then delicious. My personal favorite is the chicken pockets. However, make sure you ask for chips on the side as you may have left over salsa. Tryst offers wireless Internet on the weekdays, as people often come in with their laptops to study or do work. It is important to note, however, that they do shut off the free Wi-Fi on the weekends, as it becomes more crowded. The best thing about this place and what makes it so much better from its large chain competitors is its relaxed atmosphere. Customers have the freedom to sit and have a single cup of coffee for two hours if they please. Of course, you may want to tip your waiter or waitress more then the standard twenty percent, if that’s the case! To find more great coffee shops like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Hometown Appliance & Mattress Shoppe in Forsyth, MO is a small, family owned-and-operated appliance store that sells everything from washing machines to mattresses. While buying a clothes washer at this establishment may be much like buying one anywhere else, what really sets Hometown apart is what happens after you bring that washer home. Delivery is kind and courteous, as they will even remove your old appliance if you wish. Their service connections are great and they are also willing to help you learn simple service techniques on your own, saving both your time and money. Hometown Appliance really stands behind its products. We used to buy our appliances wherever the price was lowest, but we learned the hard way that customer service is priceless. Hometown has good prices, a good reputation, and shopping there supports something that is increasingly rare in our time: good values. Hometown Appliance is conveniently located on the main drag in Forsyth. They sell most major brands and have a pleasant display room for all of their products. Sales are common, so sign up for their flyer to receive notice in advance. The next time you are in the market for a new appliance, mattress set, or even sewing machine repair, skip the big box stores and give Hometown a chance! Beans in the Belfry in Brunswick, MD is one of the most unique establishments I have had the pleasure of frequenting. The first impression is the unusual setting – a historic church in downtown Brunswick! With stained-glass windows and a balcony in place, Beans in the Belfry is a lovely place to explore while having a bite to eat or visiting with friends over tea. The café is set up casually, with an assortment of comfortable couches, chairs, and benches to suit any visitor. Books abound and wireless Internet is available for those wishing to do work or networking in a relaxed environment. On most nights of the week, there is live music from local and traveling bands of all sorts. Most of the regular musician’s tunes are available on CDs that are sold in the café. It is especially fun to watch the music and occasional dancing from up in the balcony! Children are always delighted to enjoy music and to play with games and dress-up clothes found throughout the place. The most important part of all –food and drinks – leave nothing to be desired! Everything is homemade, from sandwiches to desserts to drinks to homemade chili. The menu includes a variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches as well as many different teas, coffees, and specialty drinks. The desserts are scrumptious and usually include such selections as berry pies, brownies, and cheesecakes. Prices are refreshingly affordable for such wonderful food, setting, and company. I always recommend Beans in the Belfry as my favorite place to eat whenever friends and family visit. It is a one-of-kind place that is an absolute must-see. Home Is Where the Hound Is at 22679 N. Davis Way is a local business in Maricopa, AZ run by the amazing Kimberly Diedrich! I found out my sister was getting married just after I had purchased a new puppy, and did not want to have to board her away from home. Kimberly came over to meet my dogs and made friends with them right away, even the eldest, who is usually worried when strangers stop by. I was so happy that they had someone they immediately warmed up to who could watch over them. Kimberly sent us photos of our doggies snuggled up together so we could see that they were well, as well as an email talking about how things seemed to be going. Our minds were totally at ease because of the efforts she took and we cannot thank her enough! When we returned home, we had a photo greeting card of our little loves, homemade chicken jerky Kimberly made for the dogs, and, most importantly, two healthy spaniels happy as clams! The time and consideration Kimberly puts into her business is the reason why she was voted Maricopa Business of The Year in 2007. She is also the reason why my husband and I will never worry when we need to be away from home in the future! For more great services like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Over the Edge Games & Comics is a gaming, comic and more store, located in Fairhaven, MA. I am into comics and it is my regular LCS (local comic store). They have a great selection of new comics that come in every Wednesday. They have a pull list service for their regular customers, but they have a great selection for anyone who just might happen to drive by the store. Over the Edge often has a sale on back issues and trade paperbacks. While I have been in larger stores that seem pretty cold, the employees at Over the Edge Games & Comics always greet everyone and try to help out anyone who might be looking for a particular book. Although I am a comic person, it is refreshing to see the many people who visit this store are interested in gaming. I do not know about gaming all that much, but they have many different games and tournaments going on throughout the week. They also have a huge Magic group that plays there often. It is amazing to see what some of these figures and cards sell for. They are selling them at a reasonable price, however, made apparent by their loyal following. This store also offers to buy and sell video games for a customer. All in all, Over the Edge Games & Comics is a great place to visit! Third Planet Comics is a comic shop located in the southern part of Houston, TX. The building is an interesting shade of light blue. Parking is located at the rear of the establishment. I have not really ever had a problem with overcrowding, so this is always a plus in my opinion. Once you walk into the store, you are always greeted by one of the helpful employees. This is one of Third Planet’s strong points- employees. This business’s employees are friendly and helpful. I have never encountered rude or pushy staff members. They are knowledgeable without being obnoxious. The atmosphere of Third Planet is laid back. I enjoy shopping here. There is a nice selection of merchandise, as well. From action figures to comics, you can indulge your sci-fi craving without logging on to a website and having to wait for the mailman. The prices are very reasonable. The comics are arranged nicely, rather than stashed away in some dark dusty room. I have managed to snag a few great issues of some comics I have been eyeing for a while. They accept the universal currency of cash and also the ever-popular plastic credit cards. If you are ever in Houston, stop on by. You will definitely be happy you did! There’s nothing like Book Soup, the eclectic book store on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, CA. Book Soup looks like it was pieced together in the 1950s and let all the best books in the world congregate until the right customer for each one wandered in. While waiting for the customers, celebrity sightings are frequent. It is the local bookstore to neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills and West Hollywood. Just yards away from Whisky-a-Go-Go, The Viper Room and the brown “Welcome to Beverly Hills” sign, Book Soup deserves historical landmark status. If you are picturing a neatly cataloged, mainstream bookstore, think again. Part of the fun at this store is finding what you want and then discovering untold treasures during the search. There are travel guides, photo books, barely-published novels, poetry, biographies, cards, posters, and celebrity books signed by all the stars that stop by for a book signing. On the off chance that none of the tens of thousands of books inside strike a person’s fancy, there is also a newsstand outside where the beautiful glossy magazines still look elegant. Book Soup is a book lover’s dream, paradise for any reader, and heaven for those looking for something to read under the covers or on the beach. They just do not make stores like this any more! Have you ever dreamed of going into a store and being able to get whatever you want? Marian’s Closet, located at 134 College Street, in Wadsworth, Ohio, is a store where you can do just that! Organized and run by the local charitable organization called F.I.S.H., Marian’s Closet carries many items ranging from household pieces to clothing, and more! Shoppers are treated to a thrift shop/bazaar style atmosphere, where they can literally find almost anything on any given day. They are allowed eight items per visit, all for free! Volunteers exclusively staff Marian’s closet, and the house is supported by those donations of household goods, clothes, and monetary gifts received. Marian’s closet has been a whole-heartedly welcome addition to our community since having opened its doors two years ago. Not only is the store good for people who need items, but it has also been good for those donating items as well, helping to reduce landfill burden. The next time you are in downtown Wadsworth, stop by for a visit. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Store hours are 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings, and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Visit if you wish to lend a hand.
