http://www.flickr.com/photos/adulau/4042279241/Wonder Book and Video is possibly the best book store that I have ever had the pleasure of exploring. Upon your first steps inside, you will not truly realize the scale and variety of this independent book store, but once you step into the forest that is created by its floor-to-ceiling shelves you may find yourself overwhelmed by the potential of its contents. From classic leather bound novels to detailed guides on how to do just about anything you set your mind to, Wonder Book offers a wealth of unimaginable possibility and knowledge at prices that any reader can afford. Never before have I felt so overwhelmed and inspired at the same moment. Wonder Book’s prices beat any used or new book store in the area and, if that wasn’t enough, offer a large variety of used DVDs and rental DVDs as low as $1. I have even found brand new hardbacks for as low as $0.50. They will also buy almost any used book you offer them at a pay that rivals that of any of its competitors. Its friendly and informative staff, coupled with its low prices and extensive variety, make Wonder Book and Video the most satisfying store for readers of all kinds. With tons of local business listings available online, globalYP.net is the most convenient way to find places near you.

Valuable Service At Hometown Appliance & Mattress Shoppe In Forsyth, MO

hometown appliance & mattress shoppeHometown Appliance & Mattress Shoppe in Forsyth, MO is a small, family owned-and-operated appliance store that sells everything from washing machines to mattresses. While buying a clothes washer at this establishment may be much like buying one anywhere else, what really sets Hometown apart is what happens after you bring that washer home. Delivery is kind and courteous, as they will even remove your old appliance if you wish. Their service connections are great and they are also willing to help you learn simple service techniques on your own, saving both your time and money. Hometown Appliance really stands behind its products. We used to buy our appliances wherever the price was lowest, but we learned the hard way that customer service is priceless. Hometown has good prices, a good reputation, and shopping there supports something that is increasingly rare in our time: good values. Hometown Appliance is conveniently located on the main drag in Forsyth. They sell most major brands and have a pleasant display room for all of their products. Guitars Of The Stars Has A Great Selection In Collinsville, IL

Posted by Keri W. on March 08, 2010
Arts & Entertainment, Retail Stores / No Comments

If you are looking for your favorite star’s guitar, then you have to head to Guitars of the Stars in Collinsville, Illinois. With a good selection of rare and hard to find guitars, you are sure to find unique pieces that you wouldn’t see anywhere else. But the guitars are not the only great thing about this store. With a totally unconventional store layout, the owner is able to test his guitars and even give lessons on a full size, fully equipped stage that he custom built in the main room of his store. Students are given the opportunity to learn how to play guitar in a real “gig” setting with real musicians that are brought in to play with them! And if this were not enough already, the owner produces his own line of hand made amps under the name BoobTone Amplification. This is due to using older vacuum tubes often called “boob tubes” which have been replaced by cheaper and easier to produce parts by most large scale amp manufacturers. The sound these tubes produce however is second to none, and is easily worth the increased cost to a user who truly values high sound quality. With custom amps, rare guitars, and unique lessons that you cannot get anywhere else, Guitars of the Stars is sure to be a favorite for any guitar lover! With local directory listings online, globalYP.net is sure to be a favorite of yours.

Get Lost In The Thrill At Over The Edge Games & Comics In Fairhaven, MA

over the edge games and comicsOver the Edge Games & Comics is a gaming, comic and more store, located in Fairhaven, MA. I am into comics and it is my regular LCS (local comic store). They have a great selection of new comics that come in every Wednesday. They have a pull list service for their regular customers, but they have a great selection for anyone who just might happen to drive by the store. Over the Edge often has a sale on back issues and trade paperbacks. While I have been in larger stores that seem pretty cold, the employees at Over the Edge Games & Comics always greet everyone and try to help out anyone who might be looking for a particular book. Although I am a comic person, it is refreshing to see the many people who visit this store are interested in gaming. I do not know about gaming all that much, but they have many different games and tournaments going on throughout the week. They also have a huge Magic group that plays there often. It is amazing to see what some of these figures and cards sell for. They are selling them at a reasonable price, however, made apparent by their loyal following. This store also offers to buy and sell video games for a customer. All in all, Over the Edge Games & Comics is a great place to visit! Find Great Collectibles At Third Planet Comics In Houston, TX

third planet comicsThird Planet Comics is a comic shop located in the southern part of Houston, TX. The building is an interesting shade of light blue. Parking is located at the rear of the establishment. I have not really ever had a problem with overcrowding, so this is always a plus in my opinion. Once you walk into the store, you are always greeted by one of the helpful employees. This is one of Third Planet’s strong points- employees. This business’s employees are friendly and helpful. I have never encountered rude or pushy staff members. They are knowledgeable without being obnoxious. The atmosphere of Third Planet is laid back. I enjoy shopping here. There is a nice selection of merchandise, as well. From action figures to comics, you can indulge your sci-fi craving without logging on to a website and having to wait for the mailman. The prices are very reasonable. The comics are arranged nicely, rather than stashed away in some dark dusty room. I have managed to snag a few great issues of some comics I have been eyeing for a while. They accept the universal currency of cash and also the ever-popular plastic credit cards. If you are ever in Houston, stop on by. You will definitely be happy you did! To find other unique shops like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Book Soup, A Local Landmark In Los Angeles, CA

book soupThere’s nothing like Book Soup, the eclectic book store on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, CA. Book Soup looks like it was pieced together in the 1950s and let all the best books in the world congregate until the right customer for each one wandered in. While waiting for the customers, celebrity sightings are frequent. It is the local bookstore to neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills and West Hollywood. Just yards away from Whisky-a-Go-Go, The Viper Room and the brown “Welcome to Beverly Hills” sign, Book Soup deserves historical landmark status. If you are picturing a neatly cataloged, mainstream bookstore, think again. Part of the fun at this store is finding what you want and then discovering untold treasures during the search. There are travel guides, photo books, barely-published novels, poetry, biographies, cards, posters, and celebrity books signed by all the stars that stop by for a book signing. On the off chance that none of the tens of thousands of books inside strike a person’s fancy, there is also a newsstand outside where the beautiful glossy magazines still look elegant. Book Soup is a book lover’s dream, paradise for any reader, and heaven for those looking for something to read under the covers or on the beach. They just do not make stores like this any more! Berkeley Bowl Is The Best Way To Grocery Shop In Berkeley, CA

Posted by Keri W. on March 05, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Retail Stores / No Comments

I am not claiming to love grocery shopping. On the contrary, I find it to be one of life’s necessary evils. But with three kids with substantial appetites, I try to make the best of a bad situation. Berkeley Bowl and Berkeley Bowl West have completely ruined me for shopping anywhere else. I used to be happy shopping at chain stores, but now I can barely go in for milk! Berkeley Bowl has everything you need regardless of what genre of food you are making. The local restaurants get first dibs in the mornings because the produce is high quality, value priced and spans the range of exotic to mundane. I will shop for ingredients for Thai food, Mexican and Italian all in one spot. They have a tremendous range of Asian ingredients and it’s great to not have to make another trip to a specialty shop to make an authentic meal. Both the meat and produce sections will spoil you. You will never tolerate processed meat again! The range of organic, natural, grass fed etc. meats is outstanding. During citrus season you can find 8 different kinds of oranges. During tomato season you will struggle to find less than 12 options. And my favorite is stone fruit season – oh the plum, peach, apricot and nectarine extravaganza reaches as far as the eye can see. People will often complain of crazy parking or ridiculous lines, but now that there are two stores this has been greatly relieved. Country Freshness At Clark’s Country Farmers Market in Hudson, FL

Posted by Jordan G. on March 05, 2010
Business & Professional Services, Products, Retail Stores / No Comments

clarks country farmers marketIf you go into a farmers market knowing that the produce and vegetables are most likely fresh from the fields and that, in all situations, you will be subject to a few spots of dirt or an array of “natural” age, I have found the right place for you! You will love the assortment of fresh produce gathered at Clark’s Country Farmers Market in Hudson, FL. Growing up on a farm, having to clean fresh greens and vegetables was very common place. So, it is nice to be able to have that same farm fresh pleasure without having to be the one to harvest. Clark’s takes care of all of that for you! Another good point, though away from the produce section, is the small deli the establishment has. The deli section of Clark’s is nice and clean, with friendly staff and fresh cut meats. I highly recommend Clark’s Country Farmers Market for their fresh deli meats. Clark’s Country Farmers Market also has a butcher section that offers a wide variety of select butcher cuts and custom packages. Seasonal fruit shipping is available in certain months, offering fruit baskets filled with apples, oranges, tangerines and candy. These tasty treats are made to order and mailed nationally from within the store. Delivery is also available. For more fresh finds like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Rosie’s Roses Are Really Fresh In Hollywood, FL

Posted by Keri W. on March 02, 2010
Products, Retail Stores / No Comments

Rosie’s Roses is my favorite place to buy flowers and roses for my wife and friends in Hollywood, FL. Located at 1800 S University Dr, the roses there are fresh and are well kept, watered every day and fed with healthy soil and fertilizer. I once asked Rosie’s Roses how they are able to keep their flowers so fresh. The manager came one day and explained to me the store’s policy of only keeping the flowers for no more than one week. All flowers not sold after a week are thrown out into the trash. Although no profit is made by throwing out these flowers, the manager explained to me that the store prefers quality over the profit. At first, I thought the store manager was lying. After all wouldn’t the business fold over if they had such a policy? But to me great surprise, the manager did tell me the truth. All of the flowers I have ever bought from the store are fresh and smell very nicely. The price is also reasonable. Roses are priced at a good and affordable price, and the store often hands out discounts and coupons even during non-holiday seasons. Quite clearly, Rosie’s Roses is the place to buy roses and other flowers from. GlobalYP.net is the place to get online yellow pages from.
