Oasis Cafe is an excellent bar and dance club in New Paltz NY. There are a number of bars in New Paltz, and because its a college town the scene is usually quite busy even in the summer. However, Oasis Cafe is by far the best in my opinion. They have live music every weekend, all different types with some great cover bands. There is also a jazz band that comes out Tuesdays, and Free Pool Monday and Wednesday nights. They also have a first rate sake bar inside as well, with more than 50 varieties of sake served both hot and cold. The bartenders for both the sake bar and the regular bar are very friendly and professional, and the service is excellent overall. Bouncers and barbacks keep the place safe and clean. The crowd is mostly college students to recent graduates, and the acoustics are such that people can hear the music and still talk to their friends. Thursday’s the attached bar, Cabaloosa’s, has 80’s night, so you can go upstairs to Oasis and play pool or drink or relax, and then go downstairs to Cabs if you want to dance. There are usually drink specials on this night as well. There are outdoor patios upstairs and down for people who like to smoke or just want some fresh air. The bar is centrally located in the village of New Paltz and there is easy access to nearby eateries should you get hungry. There is plenty of nearby parking available, and also a local safe rider shuttle going from the bar to SUNY campus. It’s so close to most of the village that people generally just walk there and walk home. In short, if you’re ever in New Paltz and you need a drink or just a place to unwind, you have to go to the Oasis Cafe!
