Joey’s Has Meat, Seafood, Baked Goods, Wine And More In Lafayette, LA

Eating & Drinking Places, Retail Stores / No Comments

Joey’s is an institution in Lafayette, and has remained preeminent as a gourmet food store and meat market even as such stores have proliferated with the town’s growth. In business since 1981, Joey’s has always been the premiere destination for top quality meats and seafood in town. While the meats are top quality in their own right, I’d definitely recommend letting Joey’s prepare them for you, as well – their prepared foods are wonderful. We make it a practice to tailgate before LSU games, and when we do, we always throw some of Joey’s incredible shish kebabs on the grill – they tend to make us the envy of the parking lot! They make wonderful soups, stews, and etoufees, as well, and ship their prepared foods most places across the nation. They also have a great deli with a wide selection of domestic and imported meats and cheeses. Here, too, their prepared foods shine – their shrimp salad, in particular, is the stuff of Lafayette legend. Their bakery is famously good, as well, especially their signature cake balls. Rounding out Joeys’ offerings is their wine selection, which rivals any in town – and the staff is knowledgeable enough to help you make the right selection. Not just a market, Joey’s also caters events and is open as a restaurant for lunch. Try a delicious po’boy, stuffed potato, or deli sandwich to get a taste of why Joey’s has become such a Lafayette institution. Try finding business listings online with globalYP.net.

Delightful Desserts Done The Old-Fashioned Way At Keller’s Bakery in Lafayette, LA

keller's bakeryKeller’s Bakery in Lafayette, LA is a thriving member of what may be, on a larger scale, a tragically dying breed – an old-fashioned, self-contained bakery, making unique and delicious breads, pastries, and Louisiana specialties fresh every day. Luckily, Keller’s seems to be thriving, due mostly to their wonderful and well-deserved reputation. They do wonderful wedding cakes, as well as a full line of delicious staples, like German Chocolate and the Louisiana-born Dobache cake. Their pies, pastries, and cookies are delicious, as well. All of their items are made with obvious care, craftsmanship and are wonderfully flavorful. My favorite items at Keller’s are their take-and-bake bite-size pies. These little pieces of heaven are homemade, flaky piecrusts stuffed with Cajun spiced meat, crawfish etouffee, or seafood. They bake to perfection in your own oven once you get them home. My family has made them a standard at our holiday gatherings. They are so good! Keller’s also has great breads. Stop in on your way home for a loaf of fresh-baked, crusty on the outside, soft on the inside French bread to compliment your meal. Whether you are planning a wedding or just want to taste a little something special, Keller’s bakery in Lafayette is a terrific destination for anything baked! Receiving The Royal Treatment At Bagel Palace Deli & Eatery in Atlanta, GA

Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

bagel palace deli & bakeryThe perfect everything bagel should be crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, liberally coated with seeds and spices, and salty enough to demand that you either take another bite or enjoy a big drink of water (or in my case soda). Bagel Palace Deli & Bakery in Atlanta, GA is, in one word, divine. Come for the bagels! They are less than a dollar each, which isn’t bad these days. I would much rather spend my dollar here than at another eatery, where the same amount buys a substantially inferior product. Bagel Palace has an ample selection that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. I personally choose the ‘everything bagel,’ my absolute favorite, but they have about a dozen other varieties if you are thusly inclined. Bagel palace also offers a generous breakfast and lunch menu. They have the ubiquitous kosher deli selections, all done quite well, plus a few nice “Southern” additions to the standard board of fare. The tuna fish salad sandwich with potato salad is a particularly tasty dish. Bagel palace also offers some of the tastiest sweets and baked goods around. The next time you are in Northeast Atlanta and a bagel and Dr. Brown’s soda strikes your fancy, drop into the Bagel Palace. You will not be disappointed! Tasty Treats At Seven Stars Bakery In Providence, RI

seven stars bakerySeven Stars Bakery, located at the corner of Broadway and Knight streets on the West End of Providence, RI, is one of my favorite places to stop for coffee and a snack. When I lived just a couple blocks away from this wonderful spot, I could almost smell the aromas of the New Harvest brand of coffee, a local to Providence that they would brew. Upon entering the bakery, I was always greeted by friendly servers and was frequently, pleasantly surprised to meet familiar faces. My staple order at Seven Stars Bakery is a medium coffee or Café Latte, a ham and cheese croissant, and a ginger star cookie. Other great drinks they offer are hot chocolate, cappuccino, other espresso based drinks and, for those who are thirsty, fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juices. Their croissants are always baked to perfection and they also offer a wide selection of freshly baked breads and pastries such as scones, muffins, and brownies. For lunch, they serve sandwiches on tasty French baguettes. Sandwich options include ham/cheese/butter and tomato/spinach/mozzarella. The atmosphere is excellent as well. The bakery has plenty of seating and large windows that are ideal for people watching. Seven Stars Bakery is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or snack with a friend! Daddy Cakes Creates Amazing Cupcakes In Topeka, KS

http://www.flickr.com/photos/clevercupcakes/3245835028/Daddy Cakes is a neat little business, which is rapidly gaining popularity in Topeka. Based in a large parking lot kiosk, you can smell the goodness from downwind a block away. On entering the door you will find the offerings for the day. Cupcakes are everywhere! Mini-cakes, full-size, and the store name sake, the really big, Daddy cakes. The owner/manager/baker has a bunch of flavors and styles available. The classic chocolate on chocolate with the familiar white squiggle is available everyday and is a favorite. It is so much better fresh than any you have tried before. Each day of the week has a different “flavors of the day” list. (Hint: Thursday is the coffee flavors day.) With a variety of sizes and flavors, everybody can find something they want to try. The problem is limiting yourself to just one or two. Take out boxes are available for 6 and 12 cupcakes in any of the three sizes. The management does limit walk-in customers to 2-dozen per visit. If you want more, you need to call ahead. These cupcakes do not have preservatives to prolong shelf life. They are best when eaten within a few hours. While the calorie conscious will not want to make this a daily stop, they do keep some lower calorie varieties available GlobalYP.net has tons of local business listings available online.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/tracyhunter/110296501/The Ambrosia Bakery, located in Baton Rouge, is a neat, attractive building. Upon walking in, you can see delicious cakes and cookies along the length of the building. There is a small consultation room for wedding and special occasion cake orders. The birthday cakes catch your eye first. They are colorful, unique, and tempting. There are desserts and various sweets available to purchase on site. There is also gelato, fancy Italian ice cream in the bakery, besides the cookies and chocolates. Cheesecake can be seen in a freezer along the wall. Besides bakery goods, Ambrosia functions as a deli as well, perfect for those who want to grab a quick bite anytime. There are sandwiches and soups; classic café menu items. Specialty breads like Jalapeno flavored seem to be popular, as many customers purchase some. Since The Ambrosia Bakery is in Louisiana, one of its specialties is king cake. The ring shaped cake tastes great and the bakery is known by locals as a preferred place to buy king cakes. When Mardi Gras comes around, they are quite in demand. Seasonal and customized cakes can be ordered either in store or through the website, where a wide variety of popular items can also be found. The Ambrosia is really one of the premier bakeries in Baton Rouge, and a visit is always worthwhile. Find more great spots with globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

Main Street Bakery And Catering Makes Amazing Treats In Luray, VA

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Luray-Virginia/Main-Street-Bakery-and-Catering/344293269151#!/photo.php?pid=5028926&id=344293269151Main Street Bakery And Catering is one of the best bakeries in the area. Actually, I would go so far to say it is one of the best in the state of Virginia. The bakery is run by a very nice gentleman named Chuck. Chuck really knows a lot about baking and the second you sink your teeth into one of his delicious pieces of bread with butter on top you will know what I’m talking about. Now the bread at the bakery is a little more expensive than your regular loaf of white that you can get at the supermarket, but it is really worth the extra money in my opinion because the product is of much higher quality. Main Street Bakery not only does bread, but they also have all kinds of pastries. You really have to try their bread pudding. It is about the best I’ve ever had. It is so good my friend had the gall to ask for the recipe, but like they say, a true magician never reveals his tricks. Besides the baking, Main Street Bakery has a really nice private catering business. I had a party and we ordered some meatloaf from them and it was great. The staff was really nice and even came to our house to set up and serve the food. So if you are in the area you should definitely take advantage of everything they have to offer. You won’t be disappointed. Take advantage of globalYP.net, an online directory, and see what else your area has to offer.

The Ultimate Pastry Shop – The Best Sweets In Sewickley, PA

Posted by tluke on April 15, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Ultimate Pastry ShopThe Ultimate Pastry Shop always has something good baking! In the quaint town of Sewickley, PA, the shop fits in well with the small town atmosphere of Sewickley. They usually have seasonal items for sale and cakes available for special occasions. The shop has a flamingo themed decor and makes me smile every time I enter. The staff is always cheerful and attentive and makes sure I have everything I need. One of my favorite items would have to be the iced cookies, which vary depending on the season. In hockey playoff season they make penguins cookies, and on the 4th of July the cookies are sprinkled red white and blue. The local feel of the pastry shop sets it apart from other chains in the area. They also sell sandwiches in the cooler in the front of the store and coffee for anyone in need of some morning caffeine. Day-old products are bagged up and sold at half price, a great deal for anyone looking for a bargain. Anyone in the Sewickley area looking for a midday snack, breakfast for the family, or cakes for special occasions cannot go wrong by going to the Ultimate Pastry Shop.
