Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Brownies Lounge & CateringAre you Irish? Do you just want to party? The best, old school, place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Sacramento is Brownie’s in the South Hills shopping center. If you live in the Land Park, South Land Park, Greenhaven, or Pocket neighborhoods, this is the place to be on March 17. Your host, Clare Brown, is a former Irishman of the Year. However, there is nothing “former” about the Irish authenticity of Brownie’s. Brownie’s is well-known for having the best corned beef and cabbage in town. The portions are large and tasty. There will be real Irish music including bagpipes and a band. Brownie’s has a full bar with congenial bartenders, so whether you want a Guinness stout, a Bailey’s, or an Irish whiskey, it will be available. While you have to pay admission to celebrate the day in mid-town Sacramento, there is no admission charge at Brownies, a true dive bar, and the parking is free, as well. To be safe take a bus which will let you off right at the corner of South Land Park Drive and 35th Avenue. Be part of a Sacramento tradition and celebrate at Brownie’s. The Drinks Will Flow And The Bands Always Wail At The Rusty Nail Tavern In Ardmore, PA

Posted by tluke on March 17, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Rusty Nail TavernYou can’t pick a better location to drink away St. Patrick’s Day than the Rusty Nail Tavern. Located on Haverford Avenue – just a stone’s throw from the Ardmore Junction stop on SEPTA’s Norristown High Speed Line – this is an ideal, public transit accessible, friendly place to let your hair down and not be concerned about the ride back home to the suburbs or the city. Affectionately known as “The Nail” to locals, you can almost easily pass it by without notice, as its subdued facade offers no grand marquis sign or strobe lights to pave the way. Just walk past the neighboring 7/11 and find yourself a seat at the bar or one of the tables to commence your green-themed drinking and partying. If you want to stretch out your celebratory time, be sure to buffer the beers with some of the Nail’s excellent food fares. Tasty cheese steaks and fries always go down well with a cold brew on tap. Get your eating done early though, because the place is sure to fill up when the band’s about to play. Live music from some of the best local bands frequents the Rusty Nail throughout the week; and, there’s not even a cover charge. Every night is an experience to be remembered and the entertainment is priceless while keeping the green in your pocket and in your beer. Come And Play At Kells, Where The Lucky Irish Find A Home In Portland, OR

Posted by tluke on March 17, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Kells Irish Restaurant & PubKells Restaurant & Pub is a fantastic place to spice up the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. There is live music and great food in the heart of downtown Portland. On St. Patrick’s Day this pub is in full force. The Irish dancing, and Irish bagpipes makes all of us feel a bit Irish. Face painted clovers on the kid’s cheeks, and it’s encouraged for the adults to do the same. Consumers that have come from all over the globe are soon overflowing out of the pub and onto street with their green beer and smiles from ear to ear. There is a parade on St. Patrick’s Day and it goes right by Kells. It’s a festival inside and out. All who enter this house of cheer walk away with some Irish pride. Although there is a crowd ranging in the ages from, mid twenties to early forties, one can still find a nice quiet spot and enjoy a cigar with a fine single malt. There is a downstairs that has an old-world feel. If you are a fan of single malts, then this is the place to go. The selection is overwhelming and the age of these scotches date back over hundreds of years. The selection is not to be intimidating because the bartenders at Kells are well educated on the subject. Even if it is your first time in a place of this caliber the bartender will teach you a few tips and pair your pallet with a fine cigar and scotch. The whole day of celebrating can be done at Kells, a full experience of being Irish. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Go To The Elbow Room In Dallas, TX On St. Paddy’s Day!

Posted by tluke on March 17, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Elbow RoomI tend to go to the Elbow Room for most major holidays. It is a great low key neighborhood dive bar with some really awesome employees. The average age of patrons ranges the whole spectrum, because everyone is made to feel right at home. But in general, you will run into a 20s-30s age group. Their food menu is definitely worth checking out too, as it is not just your typical greasy bar food. I usually go for sharing the cheese pizza or the chicken skewers jetting out of a grilled pineapple. The Saint Patrick’s Day parade of lower Greenville does not go past here, so it is perfect for those patrons wishing to steer clear of the massive crowd, or those looking for a place to settle in after the festivities. Although, there is plenty of room for everyone! Not only is the interior huge, with tons of tables, the back patio is spacious as well. The dart and shuffle boards are put to very good use every night. Other things to note are the multiple clean mens and womens restrooms, cigarette machine, jukebox, and gaming machine on the bar counter. You really can’t go wrong at the Elbow Room – I recommend it 100 percent! To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

McNellies Public House – Great Place For Saint Patrick’s Day In Tulsa, OK

Posted by tluke on March 17, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

James E. McNellie's Public HouseJames E. McNellies Public House in Tulsa, OK is a great place to go with your friends for a fun night. Every Wednesday they have Burger Night, where burgers are only $3. Don’t forget to get your order of Sweet Potato fries. As you guessed, Wednesday’s are very busy and fun. Great place to meet others in Tulsa. The atmosphere is fantastic. The staff is attentive and the customers add class to the restaurant. One time my friend announced her engagement, the manager overhearing our reactions, had his bartender give her a drink on the house. We always have fun playing darts or shuffle board upstairs on Burger Night. I will admit the upstairs is kind of smokey. The downstairs is set up more for dining and is family friendly. The place is so good that there is normally a waiting list. Since they just added a new bar area the line moves much faster. In November they sponsor my favorite running event, which is the McNellies Pub Run. You can even take the Guinness Challenge, where you must drink 3 (12 oz) Guinness before completing the run. This adds an interesting twist to the event. This is a great Irish Pub and while I haven’t been there for a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration yet, I do plan on attending this year! I encourage everyone in the area to come out and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at McNellies. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Very Fun Place For A St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl In Wrightsville Beach, NC

Posted by tluke on March 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Jerry Allen's Sport Bar & GrillAfter visiting this place several times, I’m formally submitting a recommendation for Jerry Allen’s Sports Bar & Grill. On an average period from Thursday through Saturday, this little piece of real estate in Wrightsville Beach, NC is packed with people of all ages from UNCW and other various local colleges. Thursday nights are the best nights to go. They have $1 beers, $2 well drinks, $3 soco with lime shots and $4 yager bombs. I haven’t heard a lot about their St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but from the little bit I’ve heard they go all out for it (I’ve only been in North Carolina for a few months now). The staff there is really friendly and easy to get along with, and many of the bar patrons are the friendliest I’ve encountered. It’s a bit of a drive to get to from Wilmington, considering how many different streets you have to get there, but once you’re there it’s a pleasant spot. If you’re into doing pub crawls, there are a few more bars located around Jerry Allen’s. If you ever find yourself in the Wilmington area, make sure you visit this place. I think it definitely beats many of the places that are in downtown Wilmington. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Making The Dead Rise With Laughter At Finegan’s Irish Wake In Bally, PA

Posted by tluke on March 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Bally HotelOnce a year, The Bally Hotel in Bally, PA has one of the best St Patty’s day events, Finegan’s Wake. The full Irish Wake is kicked off four days before St. Patty’s day, with a bag pipe band followed by a funeral procession. Enjoy the rest of your evening either in the bar or in the festival tent set-up in the parking lot. Each night, they do a Funeral Procession at 9:00, which is really fun to watch. They carry a casket down the street, then into the bar. The tradion each year is make the dead rise with laughter. Whomever makes the “dead” person rise with laughter, gets a free pint of beer. In the tent area, is a nightly DJ, spinning great hits from ever decade. More importantly they have about three beer trucks. Each have a different variety of beer on tap, but everyones favorite is the traditional Green Irish Beer. Added to the events this year will also be a Red Bull, and Three Olives Vodka bar in the tent area. I have been to the wake several times, it is an absolute blast – the tent is heated, so if it is a cold night you will be warm. It is usually very packed, so you may want to arrive early, to get close to the beer trucks. New to the wake this year, on St. Patty’s day starting at noon a family fun day will be held. All activities will be free. Activities included will be a coffin race, kids karaoke, kids Irish dance lessons, face painting, and arts & crafts. Finegan’s Wake at the Bally Hotel, is a great event for the whole family, and definitely something you should check out. Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day The Right Way At Bar Louie In Lyndhurst, OH

Posted by tluke on March 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Bar Louie @ Legacy VillageBar Louie is one of the more trendy and hip places to be in Lyndhurst, Ohio. About a twenty minute drive from downtown Cleveland, this bar is located in the middle of the upscale Legacy Village shopping area. Bar Louie is definitely a great spot because it’s where a bar meets a restaurant, while maintaining an upscale atmosphere and featuring a great drink menu. The food at Bar Louie is absolutely wonderful as well, and I highly recommend their burgers, or sliders.  Bar Louie will certainly be the place to have a great time this Saint Patrick’s Day. With plenty of drink specials specifically designed for St. Patrick’s Day, this location will be a great spot located in the middle of a bustling and vibrant shopping area. Not only will the shopping area have plenty of St. Patrick’s Day events that you can take advantage of, but Bar Louie can really get you in the spirit with its great atmosphere, wonderful bartenders, and the people who frequent the place. The drink specials have always drawn crowds to Bar Louie, and St. Patrick’s Day will surely be just as great, with both well drinks and beer specials to look forward to in addition to food specials. As an additional feature, Bar Louie also serves their wonderful burgers and other menu items until late at night, which allows for Bar Louie to be a true destination when it caters to it’s customers in this way. You won’t need to leave the bar to get some good food to break up the evening of celebrating, you can simply grab a booth and order some fine eats. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great bar and especially if they are looking for a place to truly celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Finnigan’s Wake- Best Place To Do A Irish Jig In Philadelphia, PA

Posted by tluke on March 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Finnigan's WakeAs a college student, I know that good bars, good food, good atmosphere, and good friends are the makings of a great night out. If you’re looking to have a good drink, listen to some great music, and meet some of the liveliest people in Philadelphia, then look no further than Finnigan’s Wake. With Saint Patrick’s Day right around the corner there is no better place to get your Irish on. Finnigan’s is a three-level bar. Most nights they have a Irish band playing on the first floor, a mainstream cover band on the second floor, and the third floor is reserved for hanging out and taking a break from dancing. One of the best parts about this place is it’s a stop on the Shamrock Shuttle. Come St. Patty’s Day you hop on the shuttle, go around to other Irish pubs, and end up at the best. With tons of food options (appetizers are absolutely fantastic), and different Irish concoctions, a night out at Finnigan’s does not disappoint. Finnigan’s offers a wide selection of drinks, a wonderful staff, and awesome patrons. Finnigan’s also offers a great setting for fundraisers, weddings, and private parties. There is no better place to paint the town green than Finnigan’s Wake. It’s a trip to Ireland without the long trip.
