The Station, once a simple pool hall, as been transformed into a coffee shop, a restaurant, a hangout, and more. They offer several forms of entertainment for their younger customers such as ping pong and a Wii system in the back room. In addition to these, the Station still offers pool by the hour and has seven or eight tables lined up behind their front counter. The staff is very nice and eager to serve you food, coffee, or cold drinks like soda. They have menus hanging from the ceiling that list all of their available meals, as well as rates for games (which are rather inexpensive). The Station opens early in the morning and caters to whose would like a quiet place to hang out before work or while out running errands. One of my favorite places to go out with friends is Michael’s Billiards & Sports Bar in Amherst, MA. It is a great place to enjoy the game and have a few drinks, and an even better place to play some pool. Some of the other billiards places in the area have a long wait for tables, but Michael’s always has tables open so my friends and I can get right into our game. You never have to spend much time waiting on anything else at Michael’s, either. There are always plenty of people working, and they are very quick about keeping you stocked with a pitcher of beer. The prices on both pool and beer are great. This is definitely one of the best deals in the area. I like feeling like I can afford to spend as much time playing without worrying about the cost. Another plus is the pizza joint right next door, as the staff at Michael’s is always happy to let customers bring in any pizza purchase and enjoy it at the bar! Luby’s Bar and Grill has everything you need…great food, great drinks, and great entertainment! The staff is fun and friendly and the cover charge for events and/or scheduled entertainment is offered either at a very reasonable price or for free. Besides the active sports bar, Luby’s Bar and Grill offers excellent food at reasonable prices. You can get chips and dip with hot wings or something healthier like tilapia rice and veggies. There is a nice sit down eating area, away from all the activity, so you don’t have to worry about being in someone’s way while you eat. There are also tables where you can eat at in front of the stage, where you can see local acts play on a regular basis. If you’re not quite hungry yet or need something to do before a live show or event, Luby’s also offers a billiards room you where can play for just a dollar a game and work up an appetite while dancing to an old school style juke box for nostalgia to get in the mood. Luby’s Bar and Grill in Lawrenceville is actually one of my favorite places to play pool, eat and watch live shows with my friends because it never gets boring and the prices are so reasonable. Luby’s is such a fun place to hang out for anyone over 21 that I can’t actually think of a reason why you shouldn’t go. Heidelbergs in Slidell is the number one location to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day. The festivities kick-off at 12:30 PM with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade that begins in Olde Town and ends right in front of the bar. They will be serving all you can eat local Irish cuisine from 12 PM until 3 PM and the live bands start at 4 PM. The bar will be open late for this special occasion and will close their doors at 6 AM. There will also be many live tournaments including beer pong, darts and billiards. Last years St. Patrick’s Day celebration was the largest outdoor block party in Slidell’s history and they plan to make it even bigger this year. Aside from all of the food and tournaments one thing you have to try when you visit Heidelbergs is their world famous Irish boot – a very strong concoction which includes Irish whiskey and Killians Irish Red. Heidelbergs is probably the number one location in Slidell to find premium Irish whiskeys in such a wide variety. Last time I checked they were up to 28 different variations. Don’t worry the party isn’t only for adults, Heidelbergs will also be sponsoring a street fair which will include a petting zoo and several other attractions for families with children. Last year they were honored by the Boys and Girls Club of America for their donations of time and money to the street fair. This is the perfect destination for families who don’t already have plans for St. Patrick’s Day and who want to eat some great food and enjoy the festivities. Caveman’s Bar & Billiards in Mint Hill, NC is my kind of hangout. The food is tasty, well above average bar food (fried pickles are my choice!) and there are plenty of pool tables. The sandwiches are well-portioned, classic standards. One can also choose from a variety of hamburgers, BBQ, and fried chicken meals. Although the beer selection is not very extensive, there is still a good variety. The friendly staff is quick to volunteer a tasty alternative if your favorite brew is not to be found. The pool tables have plenty of room around them, so there is no jostling other patrons while lining up your shot. There are also darts, virtual golf and shuffleboard, if that suits you better. On Friday and Saturday nights different local bands have a chance to play on a small stage area, often bringing people out to the dance floor. Additionally, there are plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure, so you do not have to miss any games or races. It is easy to become a regular at this vibrant joint. On the campus of the University of Illinois there are many bars. Legends is one that I have been to. Legends is a very nice 21 and up bar. It has big booths, small tables, and seats at the bar. There is a pool table in the back of the bar where you can usually find people playing. The lighting is very odd, in some places it is very dim and in others it is very bright. The bathrooms are well taken care of, and have good lighting. There is a statue of the old University of Illinois Mascot, Chief Illniwick and the bar has a huge entryway which makes it feel more welcoming. It is found in the group of bars on campus so it gets a lot of traffic from people going bar hopping as well as students. The bar has wooden floors, which is a nice break from all the linoleum floors that are found in most of the bars here in Champaign. The booths could be just a little more padded, but that is not that big of a deal, and most people sit at the bar anyways. The mirrors in the back of the bar make the back of the bar seem much lighter than the front of it so you can find the perfect spot for you. You would think that it’s one of those cliché movie bar rooms, etc. But this place tends to stand out in comparison to the other places trying to meet the same market. PJ Pockets is always lively, whether during the day, or, especially, towards the night. On occasion it isn’t unheard of to see a live band performing. It’s not bad to go for a first 21 birthday. Most of the time when I’ve gone there I’ve just gone to get a drink and hang out playing pool for the night. The costs are alright for what you’re getting, and I can’t complain about the food (it’s pretty much what you’d expect). Danny K’s in the city of Orange is a giant bar with many, many pool tables. They take their pool playing and entertainment very seriously here. The equipment is top notch and there are many very skilled players popping around looking for a pick-up game. If pool is not your thing, this night spot is still a lot of fun. There are loads of big screen televisions, excellent food and drink as well as a pretty friendly crowd. It seems to be a weeknight “after work” hang out for a few large Fortune 500 companies nearby. This mixed along with the serious pool player geeks makes for a lot of interesting people watching. Be careful when renting a table, though. Rates are by the hour per player and an evening can run about $40 for tables alone if you’re not careful. They will hold your driver’s license hostage until you return the equipment, too. As far as the menu, try the snooker platter. It is enough for four people and has the usual mix of bar tidbits (nachos, chicken wings, etc.). The music is upbeat and up to date. You won’t be playing pool anywhere else! Parking is a bit tight, but there is an office complex across the street that seems to not mind the spillover parking. Have fun! Nunzio’s Restaurant is by far the best restaurant to eat Italian food at in Miami. Not only do you have great Italian food, but the ambience and atmosphere let’s you imagine what it would be like to be in Italy. This restaurant is by far the best place to come and eat and enjoy the Italian culture. This restaurant has the best chicken marsala, and the best ravioli. I also enjoy their different pastas and sauces. In addition, the restaurants location is also very convenient. The restaurant is located close to many hotels, and a few blocks from Main Street. I enjoy eating here and it’s a great restaurant to hang out with your friends. I also enjoy the fact that on Saturday nights, the restaurant actually plays Italian music! I’m not a big aficionado of Italian music, but this restaurant has an Italian singer know as the “Bambino” who sings amazingly! The music makes your visit to the restaurant even more pleasant. In conclusion, if you are in the mood for some Italian food, and would like to get a taste of the Italian culture, then Nunzio’s Restaurant is the right place for you. Even, if you’re not into Italian food, this restaurant has also many other activities that you might like. The restaurant also has a small bar, with billiard tables, and big screen TVs for your favorite sports viewing.
