Keep in mind while browsing that any book with a small, circular sticker on the spine (no matter what color – they come in red, yellow, green, and blue) is used, and is being sold at half the original price of the book. This makes older editions especially good bargains, because if a book is several years old, its original selling price was often much lower than a currently new edition, and it’s half the original price that you will be paying (I recently picked up a very old copy of Of Mice and Men for $1). They have truly phenomenal customer service, both from the owner Bruce and his well chosen employees. They can always point you in the right direction if you’re looking for something obscure, and they will even find it online for you if they happen to not have it. The ambience in the store is very conducive to browsing, with nice music and artwork everywhere. It’s obvious that they care a great deal about what they do and how they do it. They will even buy your used books for a great price, or offer store credit. It’s my favorite place in San Luis Obispo to spend a rainy afternoon, and I never leave empty handed… ever. It’s a very low-key place, very welcoming but not pushy and it’s very accessible being in the award-winning Downtown area of San Luis Obispo, CA. It’s easy to just wander in and fall in love with the atmosphere and explore the thousands of titles they have to offer. Copperfield’s Bookstore is one of the cool local gems you’ll find when you visit Sebastopol, CA. It occupies one of the best locations in downtown. Copperfield’s specializes in books, but also sells small gifts, such as seasonal Christmas ornaments, fancy paper supplies, and select art. Copperfield’s has two locations, separated by a few doors. One location sells new books and gifts, while the other store exclusively sells used and rare books. In the used bookstore, there is a beautiful orange and white cat that lounges about while you shop. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. On some occasions, you’ll even see people dropping by with their books to sell. The used bookstore is extremely organized, and surprisingly comprehensive in the selection it offers. The overall feeling is very hometown, and you always feel like some hidden treasure is just around the corner. You’ll find books on gardening, politics, art, literature, anthologies, religion and mythology, to name a few genres. The new store is certainly more hip, with an expansive travel and kids section, and a great ambiance. Book Jungle in Springfield, Missouri (at 202 N Glenstone Ave), is where I go to find cheap and books that can be difficult to find. The place isn’t very big but it’s very worth visiting, as they really do seem to have all of the books that you can’t find anywhere else. They have RPG books, fantasy, Western, romance, children’s books, and any other type of book you could think of, and all of the books are well organized and divided by genre on the shelves. If you wanted to, you could browse for hours, and you’d definitely find something you like. The books are mostly used, though gently, and you can even go in there to sell your own used books. I seriously have never seen such a small area filled with so many books. Book Jungle’s building isn’t hard to find at all and once you get in there you won’t want to leave again. They have chairs placed around the store for you to sit in and read, with wonderful lighting. I believe they have the cheapest used books in all of Springfield, which is great for me and even better for my wallet. So for a few bucks you’ll be able to get a lot of the books you like, which is always a nice surprise. The store gives me the opportunity to sell back the books I needed for the last semester, so I can have money to buy the books I need for this semester. Also, they carry used books for a lot cheaper, if they have it available, and the used books are always in great condition. There are other school supplies that are located in the store, like pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, folders, mini staplers and many more items that are cheap. You can also find items in the store to help you with your class, for example, Campus Books carries extra books pertaining to the subject that are only five dollars and notes that are written by the author of the book that help you better understand how to use the book in the most helpful way possible. Every time I go into the store there are at least two people that are available to help me and they’re always pleasant. Bearly Read Books is a cute little shop that is packed full of books. They have everything from weird old romance novels to the newest vampire novels, and even some great old books that you remember reading when you were a child. There bookshelves are set up like a maze and every time you go you will find something that you have never noticed before. It’s a family run mom and pop shop and so you will get to know them pretty well. They are very nice and very funny! They give great prices for your old books that you don’t want anymore and you can use your trade in credit toward books that you want to buy. When you buy books at Bearly Read books, the price that you pay will be half of the original cover price plus sixty cents. You get a card that has your birthday on it and during the month of your birthday you get a free book! Also on your card are a bunch of little circles at the bottom that have the months of the year in them and once a month you can buy one book and you get two books for free! Keep your eyes open for the free book box located outside the front door, usually on the left side of the door, where some great books that didn’t make the trade quality cut are left for you to take home! A-1 Book Store (at 6067 Navarre Rd) is one of Canton, OH’s best-kept secrets for bargain priced books. It’s a small building and if you didn’t read the sign you’d never know the treasures that await you inside. A-1 Books is literally packed full of every type of book that you can imagine. The shelves are so full that there are even stacks of books piled on the floor. They sell used books and the store isn’t fancy like some of the chain bookstores in town. But I love the charm of this store and the unique and sometimes out of print books that you can discover here. I have been known to spend hours in this store searching for hidden treasures. I’ve never left this store empty handed. I would recommend this store to any book lover. I much prefer it to any other bookstore in town. If there is something special that you’re looking for and can’t find it anywhere else, chances are you’ll find it here. The owner seems to know where every book is, so if you don’t have the time to search on your own she’ll be able to find what you’re looking for in minutes. And if on the rare occasion she doesn’t have what you’re looking for she’ll make a call for you and have it sent to her store within a few days. They will also buy some of the books that you’ve already read and don’t want to hold onto. You can get a store credit or cash.
