Trout Lake Resort Is A Truly Special Vacation Destination In Grand Marais, MN

Trout Lake Resort is the kind of place that quickly becomes a tradition for those looking for authentic, “great places” vacations. After one visit, most people make reservations for the next year! The cabins are neat and clean and nestled in the woods right at the lake’s edge. You can leave your boat within steps of your cabin, ready for the next day of great fishing or just enjoying the seclusion of the resort. The resort has the traditional feel that many look for in a north woods experience in comparison to the cookie cutter resorts that are quickly overtaking the Gunflint Trail. Being a family-run place means a lot to the owners, too. In fact, visitors really begin to feel like family. Three generations keep the resort humming, always on hand to help out, give tips for where the trout are biting, answer questions, spin tales and entertain the kids around a camp fire at night. Trout Lake is actually quite a small lake but there is great variety in this private, secluded place. Loons are always an exciting feature for many, providing their thrilling cries and laughs throughout the day and night. Occasionally, other wildlife can be seen as well. One trip provided a quick glimpse of a mother otter and her young. Boats and motors are available or visitors can bring their own. Canoes are provided. Fishing licenses can be purchased at the resort office, as well as a few grocery items. Stories of great times in the north woods are available upon request! Local business listings are available online at globalYP.net.

agateAgate Acres RV Park is nestled into the hillside and sits between the Mighty Columbia River and the Horse Heaven Hills. At 182302 S Plymouth Rd in Plymouth, WA. Conveniently located near Interstate 82, you can make this a stop on the way, or make it your new home. Sites are large, 30×70, and as long as you keep things tidy you can use the rental location as you please. Some of us have small storage buildings, others bring along their boat or bike. Stay within your space and keep it uncluttered and the landlords and owners Devere and Nola will not say a thing. The RV park gets busy during harvest (local crops include peas, lima beans, potatoes, onion, and corn). The fruits are grapes, apples, pears and one farmer is starting out a new huckleberry field. It also tends to get a bit busy when hunting season opens as well as fishing. This park is a great place to locate close to favorite spots. Plymouth has a tavern that serves some excellent specials for dinner, or order what you want. Buy your lottery tickets, watch some sports or stop by to try out their pool tables. The post office in Plymouth offers excellent customer service and if you need to send or receive something stop by their office and let them know. Over into Oregon, which is just a little drive, you can shop tax free. Umatilla is the closest small town and has gas and propane, auto repair, a liquor store and smoke shop, as well as groceries, drugstore, auto parts, and restaurants (fast and sit down). A little bit further into Oregon you will found the town of Hermiston and all it has to offer. There is pretty much anything you need in your traveling needs available to you in the small, but friendly, town of Hermiston. Whether you are a snowbird that needs a place to stop a minute, someone who travels for a living (like the linemen and harvesters), or are looking for a place to stay for awhile, you might want to stop by and check out Agate Acres RV Park in Plymouth, Washington. The rates and the owners are quite reasonable. Spending hours flipping through a phone book isn’t reasonable, so start using globalYP.net, online yellow pages, and save time.

Posted by Keri W. on October 01, 2009
Sports & Recreation / No Comments

griffith_parkIf you are in Los Angeles and you want to spend a complete day with your family having fun, then Griffith Park is the perfect place. There’s tons of stuff that you can do in Griffith Park, like swimming, jogging, horseback riding, camping, hiking or playing golf, tennis and soccer. The Park is filled with interesting spots; you can visit the bird sanctuary and view many different bird species in their natural habitat. You can also visit the nature museum where you will see a variety of ferns, flowers, plants, and some very rare species of trees. Most of the people visit the park just to relax and to have a good time with their family, but Griffith Park is the best place for hiking, with a 53 mile hiking trail punctuated with beautiful waterfalls and ferns. The view from the observatory is also spectacular; you cannot miss going even if it tends to get crowded. You can become a member here and take advantage of all the sporting facilities (you might want to book in advance if you want to play tennis or golf). It is really great to have a place like this in the heart of Los Angeles. It’s a great getaway from traffic, noise and pollution. Quite The Views At Queen Wilhelmina Lodge In Mena, AR

Posted by Keri W. on September 22, 2009
Travel & Public Transportation / No Comments

queen_wilhelminaQueen Wilhelmina Lodge is built atop Rich Mountain outside Mena, Arkansas. It is situated in the Ouachita Mountains and has amazing panoramic views. The lodge is part of Queen Wilhelmina State Park and is surrounded by a forty site camping facility, hiking trails, a park amphitheater, playground, and modern bathhouse. During the summer season there is a nature rehabilitation center and a miniature train ride for park visitors. The rooms are nicely furnished and reasonably priced. All rooms include satellite television and wireless Internet service. They offer a variety of room choices, from a single to a suite to adjoining rooms for larger families. The views, particularly from second floor rooms, are breathtaking. We were there in late fall, and by happy coincidence were there in perfect time to see the fall foliage and a mass migration of butterflies. The scenery was amazing and rivals any spectacular autumn display. The restaurant was great with mainly Southern American cuisine. The menu had a nice variety and the food was tasty and well prepared. I would recommend the lodge to anyone who enjoys the outdoors or who wants a nice quiet vacation. If you have teens that are looking for modern fun or you can’t live without a swimming pool than this is probably not the place for you, but you really can’t beat it for a nice, quiet, beautifully scenic vacation spot. GlobalYP.net, online yellow pages, is the place for you if you’re looking for listings near you.

Sports & Recreation / No Comments

stone_cliff_parkStone Cliff Park (P. O. Box 246 Glen Jean, WV )is located about a mile and a half east of Thurmond, West Virginia on the New River. What once used to be a coal mine in the late 1800s in the New River Gorge, is now a beautiful riverside park. There are several campsites for campers at no charge. You can swim or fish from the beach area, there is plenty of room for both. There are also plenty of woods for hiking and bird watching. If you’re into boating or rafting, there are also two areas for doing that. There are picnic tables and grills near the parking area and restrooms that are kept nice and clean. The park is patrolled daily by park rangers. If you are camping, you need to check in with them and get a permit and let them know how long you are staying. They have handicapped parking right at the beach.. The park is not very far off the main road and is only a couple a miles from Route 19. You’re allowed to bring your dogs to the park so the whole family can come and join in on the fun. The fishing is good, they bite all day and the river is plenty wide here to share with the rafters. Overall I have enjoyed all my experiences at this park, and if you’re into the outdoors, you will too. If you’re looking for new places to experience, try searching on globalYP.net, local directory listings available online.

There’s A Great Selection Of Gear At Frank’s Great Outdoors In Linwood, MI

Posted by Keri W. on August 14, 2009
Retail Stores, Sports & Recreation / No Comments

franks_great_outdoorsFrank’s Great Outdoors in Linwood, MI (1206 N Huron Rd) is a unique store supplying you with all the hunting, fishing, and camping gear imaginable. They have clothing, gifts, fishing gear, hunting equipment, camping gear and anything related to the outdoors. I remember them as being a small bait and tackle shop that in fact started out as Frank’s Bait and Tackle. They have been around longer than I have and they just kept expanding over the years as people kept asking for more and they realized that there was a market for it. It was rebuilt into a larger, beautiful building as the years went by to become what it is today. Even though it has gotten larger, the same hometown feeling is still there when you walk through the doors. The town of Linwood is very small but people come from all over Michigan to see and shop this unique store full of supplies. I don’t think there is anything related to hunting, fishing or camping that you cannot purchase here. If you can’t decide on the perfect gift for someone, then gift certificates are available. They still sell live tackle as our town is on the Saginaw Bay and fishing is a big sport here. Their reasonable prices have allowed them to stay in business for as long as they have, and the parking lot is always full. It is just a fun place to explore while fulfilling your outdoor purchasing needs. For a great place to fulfill your directory needs, check out globalYP.net, an online directory.
