One of my favorite places to shop is Paradox Comics-N-Cards, or Paradox as we call it. A friend of mine recommended them to me last year and from the first time I went there, I have always felt welcome. The staff is knowledgeable about hobbies and card games and they are always happy to answer my questions and can help me come up with alternate solutions or products. They have taken special orders from me in the past, and let me know the same day when my order arrived. Another great service they offer is that when new products are released (being an avid fan here) they have been willing to take advance orders so that I can get products on the day of release in stock. All this extra service has not come at a cost to me. The fact they offer competitive prices while providing excellent service and are often willing to go above and beyond is why I am a loyal shopper and am always happy to go back to Paradox. I recommend that if you play card games, board games or enjoy painting miniatures, you should definitely take the time to check out Paradox. You won’t be disappointed. Even as an adult, I have not outgrown my love of comic books. That is why I am glad that I live near Captain Comic, a great comic book store located in New Hyde Park. One of the best things about the store, is that in addition to their huge selection of titles that cover many different comic book genres, is that the clientele is very mixed, providing a good sense of community within the store. However, there is more to this family run business than just comic books, it is also a great place to purchase science fiction, and really entertainment in general, with tons of memorabilia and collectibles. Over the past few years, I have purchased model kits and vinyl figurines. While the selection is not huge, they have great prices. Finally, Captain Comics also sells a large number of customizable card games, both starter packs and boosters. There are also usually plenty of people hanging around ready to play a game, making it a great way to pass the afternoon. The best part about Captain Comic is not what it sells, however, but rather the people that run it. They are very warm and welcoming, and do a good job of building not just customers, but also friends.
