Paperback Traders Is Perfect For Used Book Lovers In Blue Bell, PA

Shortly after moving to the Philadelphia suburbs I discovered the Paperback Trader in Blue Bell, and I got hooked on my first visit. The stacks and stacks of cheap used books are exactly what I was looking for, and I’ve been a frequent visitor since then. The selection is wonderful, with books from floor to ceiling. They actually moved next door to their previous location in order to expand their offerings. Both older classics and newer hits are represented. The prices are great, generally about 60% of the cover price. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous; they always improve the experience and are willing to look for the odd item that you can’t find. You can bring trade-ins for credit; you’ll get about 20% of the cover price. They don’t pay cash, only store credit, but chances are you’ll find plenty you want from the selection. If you have leftover credit, they keep it on file for you. The store also carries a small selection of CDs and audio books. They’ve got sections for most kinds of fiction: classics, romance, thrillers, horror, and more. There’s also a nice non-fiction section for those who prefer that to novels. They do not carry hardcover books or accept them as trade-ins. Overall it’s definitely my favorite bookstore. GlobalYP.net, an online directory, will be your favorite new way to find places in your area.

Red Blip Media Really Knows How To Help New Bands In Louisville, KY

Posted by Keri W. on January 05, 2010
Arts & Entertainment, Business & Professional Services / No Comments

These guys at Red Blip Media have been changing the Louisville, KY music scene for a few years now, only now they’ve opened an office and stopped working from home. They record demos and full length LPs for local bands, not to mention they also do music videos, show promotions, merchandising, booking… if it’s music related, they’ll make it happen. Their studio is fully digital, and portable, so even though they have an office, they can come to you at almost any time of day or night. The guys working there have been doing this for so long, that they could do it in their sleep, really. I’m serious. I went in, recorded for several hours, at a low rate ($100 for first 3 hours) and only needed one extra hour, and it cost me $25. So this demo only cost me $125, and I have 4 songs, and they mixed it for free. I freaking love those guys. I’m glad I found them, and I recommend them to everyone that wants to record a CD. As I mentioned, they also do music videos, which are a bit more expensive, but nowhere NEAR the pricing of the other companies that do it. They have a lot of great packages to help struggling bands, like recording the CD, plus promoting shows (handing out fliers), making electronic press kits, and doing photo shoots. Bottom line, these guys are working their butts off, and they couldn’t be a nicer bunch anywhere. They walked me through the whole process before we even got started so that I would know what to expect, and be able to make the most of my time. They were totally professional but it was still comfortable as they looked like normal guys. Look for more awesome businesses at globalYP.net, an online directory.

Arts & Entertainment, Retail Stores / No Comments

Ear X Tacy is one of the best record stores located in Louisville, KY. This record store is very popular to anyone and everyone that loves music of all kinds. Independent and local artist can promote their music at this store by selling their CD’s and other merchandise such as bumper stickers, t-shirts and posters. Local bands are also known to throw free CD release parties here with concerts and everyone, regardless of age, feels welcome. This record store is located in a very popular, busy, part of town known as the Highlands. Some people might say this part of town is where the “alternative” people hang out, but I like to think of it as a place where there is no judgment. Although this record store is located in this area, you can find all types of music promoted and sold here ranging from Rap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Country, Rock, Heavy Metal, Pop and anything else that comes to mind. If there is a CD, record or even cassette tape you can’t find anywhere else, chances are you can find it here. They sell everything from used “hard to find” items to brand new (everyone wants it) items as well. All in all I would suggest this place to anyone who is a music lover, or has music in their life at all. Find more great places where you live with globalYP.net, a searchable online directory.

davesDave’s Music Mine is easy to find, located on in the heart Pittsburgh’s historic Southside. They carry a variety of music, ranging from mainstream to local bands from different areas, movies on both VHS and DVD formats, and something a lot of big name music store do not carry: Concert Tickets. Dave’s Music Mine does not just pride itself on being able to find any CD for you, but also on the great customer service they provide for everyone who enters their store. Every time I have visited the store I’ve been able to get the new mainstream products I was looking for but I was also given suggestions of non-mainstream bands that I would like. If they do not have the CD in-stock, they have a local distributor that they can do special orders from, and the best part is they won’t charge you extra for it. With a huge variety of styles of music, you can always find something new and enjoyable. If you are not sure about something new they will let you listen to the entire CD so you can get a feel for it and decide if you want it. The people working there care about music and not always about how much you spend. So if you love music go to Dave’s Music Mine, you won’t walk out empty-handed!
