Makutu’s Island is the best place to take your kids indoors in the Chandler/Mesa, AZ area and has the best indoor play space. We took our girls there for the afternoon and they had a blast. They have a huge indoor themed jungle climbing structure with huge slides. You don’t have to worry about the kids getting stuck or scared because they have staff up in the play structure to help out if anyone needs it. There is a zip line, tunnels to crawl through and caves to hide in. They have a huge arcade room with lots of the usual arcade games to play. Our girls never even made it in there as they were so busy playing in the jungle. We also noticed an adorable play area for the toddlers to play in, with lots of blocks and climbing. If the kids get to tired or just need a break from the non stop playing they can relax in the little theater cove, where they have movies and storytelling. Parents can relax in the café knowing the kids are having lots of supervised fun. They have general foods but the area is quiet and a great place to work off your laptop, while still keeping an eye on the kids. I bet this would make a great place to have a birthday party! GlobalYP.net is a great place to find local listings online.
Steep World is the only commercial climbing gym in Billings, Montana (not including the ones at the colleges and the YMCA). Steep World has a very knowledgeable staff and a wide variety of climbing, kite-boarding, backpacking, and mountain boarding equipment. Whether you are looking for rock climbing lessons, to join a team, or just to get in shape with a great workout, Steep World is a fun place to be. They have an afternoon program that children can go to, and they have a portable climbing wall that can be set up for birthday parties, community events, or any other get together that would benefit from some physical exercise disguised as fun! If you ever have any questions about the climbs in Montana, have any questions about how particular equipment works, or are just searching for an outdoor enthusiast to talk to, Steep World has your answers. Their staff is more than happy to talk with you, and share their stories of using the gear they sell. They don’t open until noon, but stay open until 9PM with an easy to access location in the downtown area. Their gym is not as big as many of the huge commercial gyms, but much of the climbs can be done without a rope. They keep things up to date and well maintained so you don’t have to worry about equipment failure. If you’re looking for somewhere to exercise, or if you’re looking to buy some gear to head into the wilderness, Steep World has the gear and the knowledge you need. A recent trip to Klimbing Kidz Playground in Howell, NJ left us completely satisfied. With bright colors and exciting music, it really appealed to the kids. Our children were thrilled with the activities and services that they offered, and the ample seating left mom happy as well. The staff was kind and caring, and the premises were clean and airy. There were balls, books, legos, dollhouses, bikes, basketballs, chalk and a large climbing area for the kids to let out all of their excess energy. An eating area is available as well and they offer a large room for birthday parties too. The owner, who is there on many occasions, is quick to chat with the customers and offer any assistance you might need. The bathroom in the back is very child friendly, with a stool for the smaller children and a changing area for the babies. There is also plenty of room for a nursing mom to find a quiet place to nurse. Their pricing was reasonable and we will definitely visit again! They also offer promotions for frequent visitors, so you may want to check that out as well! Be sure to check out globalYP.net too, it’s an easy to use, searchable online directory.

Regardless if you are a hard core athlete that wants to conquer the tens of different indoor climbing wall routes or you or your kids are the next aspiring Forrest Gump ping pong champion, City Beach really does have something for everyone. The prices are a little bit higher than most other places, but it is well worth it considering the staff is friendly and there is such a large variety of things to do. You could be having a drink in their restaurant/bar, while your sons are climbing the indoor wall, at the same time your daughter is playing volleyball or basketball with her friends, at the same time your wife is playing bocce ball in their patio area while sipping margarita’s with her social club. The other night, I visited this place with my brother’s family and we all had a great time. Half of us started off with a game of ping pong, while the other half played a game of pool. Surprisingly, for a Thursday night I thought it would be crowded and we might have to wait for hours, but there was a very short wait. We simply decided to have dinner first and once the meal was done, we were able to obtain both a ping pong and pool table fairly quickly. It was a little confusing, but you have to ask the bartender at the bar to rent the equipment necessary. All in all, we all had a great time.
