Tom Bergin’s Makes Other Los Angeles Bars Green With Envy, Especially On St. Patrick’s Day

Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Tom Bergin's TavernLos Angeles is a big city with thousands of bars and taverns, but it’s no contest where to go on St. Patrick’s Day. Let’s start with Tom Bergin’s Tavern’s credentials. It’s the oldest Irish establishment in Los Angeles, founded in 1936. Since 1949, it has been at its convenient Fairfax location, on the West Side of Los Angeles. There’s nothing like partying on St. Patrick’s Day at Bergin’s. It’s the favorite of all the local radio DJ’s, so they all seem to bring their shows to Bergin’s for remote broadcasts – starting very early in the morning. The enthusiasm and noise are deafening, and the green beer is excellent. In fact, everything is excellent. If its “horseshoe bar” looks familiar, it’s because it was the inspiration for the TV series, “Cheers.” The customers stay as long as “Cheers” do, too. Once people discover Bergin’s hospitality, it’s hard to leave. Whether your preference is beer or Irish Coffee, everything is good and comforting. Actually, a lot of the bartenders have been there for years. If you’ve had enough to drink, there’s the restaurant, too. It’s small, but offers great choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve never been to Ireland, but the cathedral ceilings, candles and heaven wooden motif make me feel as if St. Patrick himself is going to appear along with some of his countrymen. I wouldn’t blame him. The Gaelic Beef is worth traveling across town or a continent or two. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Social Relaxation At Tryst Coffee House Bar & Lounge in Washington, DC

tryst coffee house bar & loungeTryst Coffee House Bar & Lounge in Washington, DC is a great coffee shop that mixes the best java with a comfortable atmosphere and good music. Occasionally, I have gone in and the music has been some sort of strange yodeling. But most time, it is a great place to study, meet with friends or pick up a date for the weekend. The coffee shop has a full menu that contains sandwiches, drinks, teas, and their famous coffee. I would recommend trying a bit of everything, as I have yet to eat anything there that was less then delicious. My personal favorite is the chicken pockets. However, make sure you ask for chips on the side as you may have left over salsa. Tryst offers wireless Internet on the weekdays, as people often come in with their laptops to study or do work. It is important to note, however, that they do shut off the free Wi-Fi on the weekends, as it becomes more crowded. The best thing about this place and what makes it so much better from its large chain competitors is its relaxed atmosphere. Customers have the freedom to sit and have a single cup of coffee for two hours if they please. Of course, you may want to tip your waiter or waitress more then the standard twenty percent, if that’s the case! To find more great coffee shops like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

While visiting the historic Ohio River town of Maysville, KY, be sure to stop into Margie’s Southern Café facing the brick streets of charming downtown Maysville. Come and eat in the relaxed atmosphere of a small hometown restaurant with a southern flair. Although most popular at lunchtime, Margie’s is a great choice for an early morning cup of coffee and a homemade bacon and biscuit sandwich. There’s an extensive breakfast menu with everything home cooked to your order. After touring the gracious downtown streets of Maysville, stop into Margie’s for some of the best chili served anywhere. Grab a hamburger deluxe to go with that chili and make a delicious meal. Margie’s serves some Cajun style dinners for lunch and supper too. Jambalaya and several other Cajun style offerings are tasty and not overly spiced. Po’boys can be had in many varieties. Margie’s has a simple hometown interior, frequented by the locals; it’s not fancy but it is welcoming. Sit in a booth and peruse the photographs on the walls of all the people who have been served at Margie’s. Several tables are outside on the sidewalk for use in the warmer months. Need a room for the night? Margie’s is also a bed and breakfast with several comfortable rooms upstairs from the restaurant. The only eatery downtown that’s open from breakfast to the wee hours of the night on the weekends, Margie’s is your best choice for good home cooked meals at a reasonable price! old crown coffee roastersOld Crown Coffee Roasters in Fort Wayne, IN is a fabulous place to dine. It has recently moved across from its old location. They have plenty of seating in their new location and have added a full bar. The owner is very friendly in his service to his customers. He is also very knowledgeable about coffee. This is, in part, because he roasts his own beans. They smell phenomenal! The espresso here is very strong and succulent. A clover single coffee brewer has also been added to their service; it brews great coffee. This allows you to order any coffee that they have there at any given time because they just brew enough for you. House coffee is also available. They have really good Clover coffee that seems to give you energy! Old Crown also provides delicious wraps. You can order boar’s head meat on your wrap with any toppings. Queen City Creamery Has Quality Treats In Cumberland, MD

http://www.flickr.com/photos/stuart_spivack/305158651/Forget Ben & Jerry’s, forget Haagen-Dazs…Queen City Creamery in Cumberland, Maryland has the best ice cream you will ever taste! I say “ice cream”, but technically, it’s frozen custard. The difference is the addition of egg yolks, which give frozen custard a smoother and creamier taste than plain old ice cream. In addition to the regular flavors of chocolate and vanilla, which are served every day, Queen City Creamery also serves a different featured flavor every day. To name just a few of the flavors that you might find, there’s: Pistachio, Blueberry Muffin, Chocolate, M&M, White House Cherry, Dreamsicle …and my personal favorite, Take 5 (tastes just like the candy bar!) You can have those flavors served in a cup or on a homemade waffle cone, or in a variety of sundaes with just about any topping you can think of. You can also have them made into a milkshake, or packed as pints or quarts for you to take home! Although the frozen custard is definitely the star of the show, Queen City Creamery is more than just dessert. They also feature a full menu of breakfast options, and deli soups and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. And all day long, they serve all the coffee drinks you could want – cappuccinos, lattes, espressos and more. All this, in the beautiful setting of historic downtown Cumberland! Just steps from the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, and right off Interstate 68… you won’t regret visiting Queen City Creamery! Step away from the phonebook and visit globalYP.net, a searchable online directory.

Have A Yummy Breakfast In Malverne, NY At Malverne Bagels

Posted by Keri W. on March 03, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Malverne Bagels is a great local bagel store. It is located in the heart of Malverne, down the street from the train station. The owners are there from four in the morning, baking their delicious product the same way they have been for the last twenty years. The bagels are machine rolled, not hand rolled, so they have a hole in the middle. This means you get extra cream cheese or tuna inside your bagel! There is a wide variety of coffee flavors, including holiday flavors such as graham cracker. The villagers all flock there late on weekend mornings, so get there early for your breakfast sandwich. Take pleasure in talking with the regulars who sit in groups throughout the day. Find your group and you can be a regular too. The helpful staff is young and energetic; sometimes they sing! If they get to know you well enough they will have your order ready for you the minute they see you walk in the door. Unless, of course you don’t have a boring palette! In that case the staff will create whatever dish you seek that can be made from bagels, rolls, toast, all kinds of yummy spreads, eggs, bacon, chicken salad, BLTs, etc! It is also the perfect place to stop for lunch before you enjoy an artsy movie at the independent Malverne Theater. Stop by globalYP.net, an easy to use online directory, to find more great spots.

Austin Java Company Has Amazing Brunch, Coffee And More In Austin, TX

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ewedistrict/23110406/Austin Java Company has been a long-time breakfast and brunch hideaway for residents in the Barton Springs section of Austin. AJC offers an extensive, scrumptious menu full of pancakes, breakfast burritos, omelets, and other down-home Southern breakfast options. My favorite is the massive three-egg omelet, served with a tasty mash of black beans and cheese on the side. If you don’t feel like breakfast, AJC has an overflowing pastry case, stuffed to the brim with homemade cakes, cookies, and biscotti. If the white layer cake is available the day you visit, snag it! Austin Java Company offers indoor and outdoor eating. The patio is lovely, with oversized umbrellas and a functional fountain. Dogs are welcome on the patio, but only service animals are allowed inside. Austin Java Company has its own signature line of coffee, and they rotate a choice of mild, bold, and decaf coffee daily. AJC also offers an Around the World Coffee club, where java aficionados can have a rotating blend of coffee from various growing regions shipped straight to their house each month. Austin Java Company is open 7am-10pm Monday through Friday, and 8am to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is limited, but there is a free shuttle to a parking lot further down the street. You never know what might be just down the street from you. Explore your neighborhood with globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

Coffee Depot Does More Than Just Coffee In Riverside, CA

Posted by Keri W. on February 28, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Coffee Depot in historic Downtown Riverside is regarded by many local citizens and college students as a true gem to the community. The coffee house has a rich history and has an appropriate name because the large building used to be used as a train depot for luggage during the early 1900s and although the building has naturally been restored, it is still very authentic and has a very traditional, depot type aura to it. The building itself is truly one of the largest coffee houses I have ever been to or heard of and is even two stories. There is a main room, a lounge/library, and another large room which functions as a sitting area and a room for performances and various events. Coffee Depot also has events such as Swing Dancing and Poetry Readings going on nearly every day of the week. Also, you can’t forget the great coffee! Coffee Depot really has a true, non commercialized taste in their coffee with a large menu with both coffee drinks and breakfast/ lunch foods similar to those of a café offering sandwiches and yogurt parfaits. The people behind the counter are also very friendly and always chatting up customers. The coffee shop is almost always full of people but it never really feels crowded because of the vast amount of seating. Coffee Depot is truly an amazing coffee house and I would highly recommend it for anyone to visit. GlobalYP.net is truly a great place to find local business listings online.
