In the approximately 200 miles between Knoxville, Tennessee and Nashville, Tennessee there isn’t exactly a booming metropolis or even a hotbed of activity inasmuch as several quaint little towns simmering with Southern charm. However, moving into Cookeville, Tennessee, about half way between Knoxville and Nashville to attend college there, it would seem a logical conclusion that at least one used bookstore should be in the nearby vicinity. Sadly, there wasn’t a decade ago and there still isn’t. However, I eventually discovered The Book Cellar tucked adorably into a quiet little shopping center only thirty miles away in Crossville, Tennessee. Finally, there was a place a college kid could go to find well kept books without having to take out another student loan just for a paperback or two! Books are expensive, but the Book Cellar doesn’t hurt so much. The Book Cellar has apparently been in Crossville for many, many years, but they have managed to retain the charm and the enchantment that literally opens its doors in warm invitation. Most of the inventory is of the paperback variety, but there is much more than just a stack of paperback romance novels. At the Book Cellar, there isn’t a genre omitted and there is even a growing availability of magazines and other periodicals. Need a reference book or even a textbook? How about the classics or a tome of poetry for a literature class? Or, as even post-collegiate folks will attest, there are a zillion different worlds to which escape is a welcome treat. They’re all at the Book Cellar, too! If you’re having problems finding something, the staff knows just where it is, but more than likely, you’ll find more than you even knew you were looking for. There’s really very little to do in Crossville, Tennessee except pass through, but for the locals, Blue Aether is one of the best places for relaxed entertainment within 100 miles! Blue Aether is actually a two-part company in that during the day, the owner and a few select staff members repair PCs, rebuild old PC’s, construct new PC’s and work with many local businesses to install and maintain local area networks, and provide the necessary hardware to customize the exact system the client needs. After hours, however, Blue Aether leaves behind the professional endeavors and transforms into late night social hotspot! It’s then that there will be a dozen or two people playing MMORPG, computer games, a whole host of game consoles from Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 down to the original Atari, and table upon tables of players engulfed in the likes of Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, Dungeons & Dragons and other role-playing table games. There are a number of special events, as well, such as all-night events, card tournaments, RPG table tournaments and online contests such as World of Warcraft, Shadowbane and Counterstrike! Blue Aether isn’t just for the experienced, because they’ll welcome you with open arms, or at least a high five, and teach you everything you ever wanted, or perhaps didn’t know that you wanted, to know! Then, when you’re hooked, you don’t have to go far to find the gaming supplies – just move to the other side of the room for the in-store selections!
