For A Lovely Night Out Try Luka’s Taproom In Oakland, CA

Posted by Keri W. on June 11, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Luka’s Taproom is one of the older of the new additions in downtown Oakland and has consistently delivered on both food and lively ambience. This is not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet intimate dinner for two, but a fantastic place to go for some great food and rowdy conversation with a group. They also have an area adjacent to the bar and dining room that features dance lessons, DJs and regular nightly dancing themes. In the back of the “taproom” is a pool area. So, really there is something for everyone here. The food is unexpectedly good. Coming here, you think you are in for regular bar food. Not the case. The food is consistently rich and rather original. They have oysters and a raw bar, but they also do a delicious array of menu items from soups and salads, burgers, lamb and fish etc. They also do a great job on cocktails and desserts. You can show up here without a reservation on most weeknights but I would suggest reservations after 6pm on Friday through Sunday nights. Also, if there are concerts in the nearby venues, you will definitely need reservations if you want dinner. If you want an easy to use online directory, look no further than globalYP.net.

schmohz brewing companyIf you are looking for a fun place to drink a few high-quality brews, Schmohz Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, MI fits the bill. Offering a selection of both standard and seasonal beers by the pint, Schmohz’s decidedly pseudo-industrial styled microbrewery is located south of 28th Street on Patterson. The clubhouse atmosphere includes free popcorn and peanuts, electronic dartboards, a pinball machine, and a pool table. Three TVs feature a variety of sporting events and requests are welcome. The establishment seeks to meet all customers’ individual needs. In the summer, an outdoor beer garden is a pleasant place to drink, with picnic table seating and shade provided by a huge tree. Schmohz also features a mug club, which includes an engraved Schmohz mug and discounts on pints or growlers. This place is definitely full of regulars, but newcomers are always welcome. Customers will always feel welcome when enjoying a drink here. There are many colorful personalities offering interesting conversational opportunities. Politics, religion, sports, and music are always hot topics. On several occasions, impromptu jam sessions have broken out between patrons who bring in their own instruments. The talent here is legion. By the way, the beer is great, too! To find more information on breweries like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Michael’s Billiards & Sports Bar, A Friendly Oasis In Amherst, MA

michael's billiards & sports barOne of my favorite places to go out with friends is Michael’s Billiards & Sports Bar in Amherst, MA. It is a great place to enjoy the game and have a few drinks, and an even better place to play some pool. Some of the other billiards places in the area have a long wait for tables, but Michael’s always has tables open so my friends and I can get right into our game. You never have to spend much time waiting on anything else at Michael’s, either. There are always plenty of people working, and they are very quick about keeping you stocked with a pitcher of beer. The prices on both pool and beer are great. This is definitely one of the best deals in the area. I like feeling like I can afford to spend as much time playing without worrying about the cost. Another plus is the pizza joint right next door, as the staff at Michael’s is always happy to let customers bring in any pizza purchase and enjoy it at the bar! Everything is very clean, which I really appreciate. The pizza, beer and pool, combined with the great service and friendliness of the staff, really make going to Michael’s a great experience! Satisfy Your Cravings At Howard’s Café In Patchogue, NY

Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

howards cafeHoward’s Café in Patchogue, NY is one of the most unassuming bar/restaurants I have ever been to. The bar area has TVs tuned to the current games. The rest of the place is small and somewhat quiet. The tables are like the food: big and without frills. Memorabilia lines the walls and you can find everyone from families to couples out on dates enjoying themselves. It is a place for everybody. The food is some of the best I have had. Howard’s has some of the best burgers in Long Island. Different variations are offered and named after numerous local points of interest, like Route 27 or Holbrook. A customer can choose beef, turkey, or vegetarian burgers. The burgers also come with more fries than you can eat in one sitting and the world’s simplest salad. This consists of a quarter of a head of lettuce, croutons, and thick sliced tomatoes and onions. The wings here are a hidden gem, just spicy enough for those who like the heat, but not so much that the more timid eater will not enjoy them. This establishment also offers more substantial fare, like shell steak and pasta dishes. Howard’s is a great place that has something for everyone. You will not be disappointed. For A Great Night Just Stop By Jake’s Roadhouse In Arvada, CO

Posted by Keri W. on May 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Jake’s Roadhouse is a small local bar located in Arvada, Colorado. It may be small but it is big on attitude. Great bands can be seen here every Friday and Saturday night. There’s a nice porch in the back with lots of tables and chairs. The patrons are very friendly and the decor is lively with a sort of “Rock-n-Roll” /”Biker” feel. They also have great food at good prices. The kitchen stays open until 10:00 on weekends and 9:00 on the weekdays. When we went, I loved this place! It was kind of small and crowded but the good times being had by everybody in the place more than made up for it. The bar staff was very friendly and seemed to know everybody. Even if they didn’t they treated the patron as if they did. I liked it so much that I went back on a Thursday night for karaoke. Now this is not something that I participate in and I usually don’t care for it too much, but I had so much fun that night. It was like hanging out with buddies. Not everybody was a great singer but that was okay. I am definitely going back! Find more great places to go using globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

Jackson Road House, A Hometown Bar And Grill In Seaford, NY

jackson road houseEveryone should have a small, neighborhood restaurant and bar that they can go to after work or on the weekends, where they can get a good, but inexpensive meal, and have a few drinks with friends. If you live in Seaford, NY, then you are lucky enough to live near Jackson Road House, a restaurant whose menu, staff, and décor makes it the perfect neighborhood watering hole. One of my favorite times to go to Jackson Road House is on Sunday afternoons and Monday nights, during the NFL season. In addition to their six big screen televisions that can carry all of the games, they also offer some great specials, such as a dozen wings for $3, the $1 hot dogs, and the $6 pitcher of beer. This is a great place to relax and watch the game. On other nights, they offer great bar food specials that are just as delicious, such as a wide arrange of wraps, sandwiches, and seafood. To wash down your dinner, they also have a full bar, with a wide assortment of beers, wines, and liquor for mixed drinks and cocktails. The décor of the restaurant is cozy. They pay tribute to local organizations, such as the New York Fire Department and the whimsical jack-a-lobe. The décor, when combined with the great food and friendly staff, make the Jackson Road House a great place to spend an evening! The Glen Rock Inn Is A Great Restarant And Bar In Glen Rock, NJ

Posted by Keri W. on May 11, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

The Glen Rock Inn, located in Glen Rock, New Jersey, is truly the heart of the community. Located directly in the middle of the main business district of Glen Rock, this restaurant/bar is always the place to be. If you are looking for a great place to go for dinner, grab a few adult beverages with friends, or catch the big game, look no further than the Glen Rock Inn. With fairly priced food and drink you cannot go wrong. Most of the locals will tell you that the Inn’s famous wings would be their personal favorite, but you can pretty much order anything up and down the menu and not go wrong. The only thing that is better than the food at this establishment is the service. From the owner (a local man from town) all the way down to the bus boys, everyone working in this restaurant serves efficiently with a smile on their face at all times. Divided into 2 main rooms, you choose the atmosphere that you are in the mood for. When walking in the front door, if you turn to your left you will find yourself in a local pub, with big screen TVs, a number of booths to sit in with friends or family, as well as a full service bar with plenty of bar stools. If you walk in the front door and turn to your right, you will find yourself in a quiet, nice, and neat restaurant with plenty of seating and space for a large number of people and large groups. This side of the restaurant is beautifully painted as a kind of shrine to the town’s history that can keep you looking for hours. The bottom line is that if you are looking for good and affordable food, or a good time, you cannot miss with the Glen Rock Inn. If you are in the area, I suggest stopping in this family owned and well-run establishment, even if it is just to take in the atmosphere! Stop by globalYP.net, an online directory, to save time.

dazzo's dog houseDazzo’s Dog House in Glendale, AZ is a family-friendly, casual dining experience. The indoor atmosphere is centered on Chicago. After all, they serve Chicago style Dogs. There is even a blinking traffic light in the corner to keep the kids entertained. While most people drive through or eat in, there is a walk up counter and exterior seating to enjoy during the cooler months in the Arizona desert. Dazzo’s is most famous for its Kosher Hot Dogs. There is also a wide variety of toppings available! From your customary mustard or relish, to a spicy pepper mix whose heat rivals the Arizona summers, they all compliment the taste of their delectable dogs. You can choose from their regular dogs or take the spicy route with the Fire Dog. Their Fire Dogs are full of flavor and offer a crunch not found in their regular dogs. Every dog comes with tasty fries, and is served in a poppy seed bun. Wrapped in traditional butcher’s paper and served piping hot, customers know they are in for a treat as soon as they get their hands on their order. Other items on the menu include Burgers and Italian Ice. The Italian Ice is a good desert for those who have tried the spicy pepper mix on their dogs. They also offer traditional fountain drinks and are generous with the lollipops for the kids. Service is always top notch! This is family owned and every experience here is a pleasant one.
