The Phoenix Makes For A Fun Night In Saint Louis, MO

A few of my friends decided to go to The Phoenix last Saturday night for the first time. I was a little put off by the $5 cover charge at the door, but once inside, the drink specials made up for it! The place is huge!! I advise getting there a little early if you want a good seat, because they started filling up pretty quick. The bartender was super friendly and very fast! She recommended some really good shots! They had, what they called, “The beat the clock special”. Drafts were only 50 cents and rails were only 75 cents! The price went up a little each hour until they were back to $2 drafts and $3 rails. Needless to say, I was happy with the prices. The food was your typical bar food, but they had really good burgers. The prices on food were pretty cheap too. I couldn’t believe how good the band sounded. They have a great sound system in that place. There was a DJ during the band’s breaks and he was entertaining as well. There were a very wide range of customers. I didn’t feel too old or too young and people watching made for a really good time. They have a TON of pool tables in there and at a buck a game, I had to play a few rounds. I wasn’t too sure about going there, because I had heard the staff was rude, but everyone was very nice and really seemed like they were having as good of a time as we were! If you’re in the area, you should drop in there for sure. I know that we will be going back! Stop by globalYP.net for local business listings available online.

Café Conversion At Beans In The Belfry In Brunswick, MD

beans in the belfryBeans in the Belfry in Brunswick, MD is one of the most unique establishments I have had the pleasure of frequenting. The first impression is the unusual setting – a historic church in downtown Brunswick! With stained-glass windows and a balcony in place, Beans in the Belfry is a lovely place to explore while having a bite to eat or visiting with friends over tea. The café is set up casually, with an assortment of comfortable couches, chairs, and benches to suit any visitor. Books abound and wireless Internet is available for those wishing to do work or networking in a relaxed environment. On most nights of the week, there is live music from local and traveling bands of all sorts. Most of the regular musician’s tunes are available on CDs that are sold in the café. It is especially fun to watch the music and occasional dancing from up in the balcony! Children are always delighted to enjoy music and to play with games and dress-up clothes found throughout the place. The most important part of all –food and drinks – leave nothing to be desired! Everything is homemade, from sandwiches to desserts to drinks to homemade chili. The menu includes a variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches as well as many different teas, coffees, and specialty drinks. The desserts are scrumptious and usually include such selections as berry pies, brownies, and cheesecakes. Prices are refreshingly affordable for such wonderful food, setting, and company. I always recommend Beans in the Belfry as my favorite place to eat whenever friends and family visit. It is a one-of-kind place that is an absolute must-see. Add Spice To Your Life At Zocalito Latin Bistro In Aspen, CO

zocalito latin bistroZocalito Latin Bistro was a pleasant surprise for me during a ski trip to Aspen, CO. All of the locals had great things to say about this place, so I gave it a go. This was a great decision. This quaint little restaurant is fantastic! The décor is colorful and the atmosphere is relaxing. Their drinks and appetizers are just great and the service is equally good. Plus, the food itself is rather cheap for the Aspen price tag! Aspen is quite the tourist trap! I love their guacamole and pork tenderloin dinner with garlic mashed potatoes. It is my favorite! They also have a delicious grilled vegetable platter! In addition to this, their chef is more than happy to spice up your food according to your preferences! This place, however, is a little tricky to find. It is located downstairs on the Hyman Ave. mall. Aspen does not have as much variety in restaurants as you would expect in a tourist city. So if you want to escape the monotony of normal tourist foods while on your ski trip, I highly recommend Zocalito Latin Bistro. It is the perfect place to relax after a long day on the slopes. Zocalito has great food, service, atmosphere, and prices! I highly recommend it! To find more information on tasty restaurants like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

old crown coffee roastersOld Crown Coffee Roasters in Fort Wayne, IN is a fabulous place to dine. It has recently moved across from its old location. They have plenty of seating in their new location and have added a full bar. The owner is very friendly in his service to his customers. He is also very knowledgeable about coffee. This is, in part, because he roasts his own beans. They smell phenomenal! The espresso here is very strong and succulent. A clover single coffee brewer has also been added to their service; it brews great coffee. This allows you to order any coffee that they have there at any given time because they just brew enough for you. House coffee is also available. They have really good Clover coffee that seems to give you energy! Old Crown also provides delicious wraps. You can order boar’s head meat on your wrap with any toppings. The cheese and veggies that come on the sandwich are fresh and flavorful. You can order anything from veggie wraps to tortilla wraps. They also have some very satisfying deserts to choose from. What is great about this food is that it is made using mostly organic products! To find more eateries like this, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Wild Country Will Get You Dancing In Collinsville, IL

Posted by Keri W. on March 05, 2010
Arts & Entertainment, Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Wild Country is by far the best country music night club in the Collinsville area. I went to Wild Country for the first time a few months ago, and boy, I had such a good time. Admittedly, I am not a big country music enthusiast (however, I will listen to it from time to time on occasion), but I really like to dance (or at least try!) so I went with a few of my friend a few months ago. From the moment you walk in you can feel the energy of this place. The night I went, there was a live band playing, and lots of people out on the dance floor (I believe they have a live band on Friday and Saturday nights). In addition to the great atmosphere, the drinks were relatively cheap. One thing you should know before you go to Wild Country is that this place is a country line dancing club. Everyone on the dance floor is doing it. Due to the cheap drinks I eventually got out there and gave it a go. All of the people out there were very friendly and willing to teach me a thing or two about line dancing. All in all, I had an amazing time there and highly recommend it to anyone! Even if you’re not a big country music fan like I am. Anyone can figure out globalYP.net, a user friendly online directory.

Reality Bites Is Really Delicious In Bloomington, IL

Don’t be fooled by the small size of Midwestern towns. They sometimes offer hidden gems with sophistication and style worthy of any large city. If you happen to find yourself traveling near Bloomington, IL, be sure to stop by Reality Bites, located in the quaint, artsy city center. Inside the retrofitted turn-of-the-century era building is a sleek and modern split-level restaurant whose décor harkens back to a time near the building’s infancy. Downstairs, in the upbeat bar area, a wide selection of drinks are available while making you feel as relaxed as if you were at home. Patrons can also order “flights” and enjoy tastes of white and red wines, martinis, and draft beers. Upstairs is a much more intimate restaurant setting where you feel almost hidden away. While specializing in Tapas-style dishes that are slightly more ample than typical Tapas fare, Reality Bites also gives the option of ordering dinner-style plates (so you don’t have to share). Using fresh ingredients, the excellent chef staff creates a dining experience you won’t soon forget. Reality Bites offers a large selection of both cold and hot Tapas plates. Just reading the menu will make your mouth water. I recommend the Bananas Foster for dessert. Just be sure to leave room if you can. Be sure to check out globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

Grab A Drink At Legends In Champaign, IL

Posted by Keri W. on February 25, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

On the campus of the University of Illinois there are many bars. Legends is one that I have been to. Legends is a very nice 21 and up bar. It has big booths, small tables, and seats at the bar. There is a pool table in the back of the bar where you can usually find people playing. The lighting is very odd, in some places it is very dim and in others it is very bright. The bathrooms are well taken care of, and have good lighting. There is a statue of the old University of Illinois Mascot, Chief Illniwick and the bar has a huge entryway which makes it feel more welcoming. It is found in the group of bars on campus so it gets a lot of traffic from people going bar hopping as well as students. The bar has wooden floors, which is a nice break from all the linoleum floors that are found in most of the bars here in Champaign. The booths could be just a little more padded, but that is not that big of a deal, and most people sit at the bar anyways. The mirrors in the back of the bar make the back of the bar seem much lighter than the front of it so you can find the perfect spot for you. wusche brothers cafe & saloonYou are in for a real treat when you decide to visit Wunsche Brothers Café & Saloon. Nestled in the heart of Old Town Spring, you will find the best down home cooking this side of the Mississippi. Known for its Chicken Fried Steak, Chicken Fried Chicken and their awesome Sausage and Sauerkraut balls, this place will soon be one of your favorites. Be sure to end your meal with a piece of their Chocolate Whiskey Cake. It is to die for! Great live entertainment can be found here on Friday and Saturday nights when the restaurant hosts great local talents. So, after your meal, stay for a couple of drinks and enjoy the music. It was built right on the side of the railroad tracks. The owners and staff are always friendly and ready to give you a tour of this historical site. Many claim that the restaurant is haunted, although there is no proof. You decide after your visit! In 1984 Wunsche’s was declared a Historical Texas Landmark.
