Naper Tandy's Irish PubIf you are looking for a great place to spend St. Patrick’s Day with your friends, I have that place for you – Napper Tandy’s in Smithtown NY. I have been going there for years with my friends. It is one big non-stop party from 11 AM until well past midnight. All day, you can get your green beer; however, the Guinesss is highly recommended. During St. Patrick’s Day, they serve a full Irish menu so if you want your corned beef and cabbage, Napper Tandy’s has you covered. They usually play a mix of rock and dance songs you hear on the radio, but they also play “Danny Boy” and songs like that during the entire day. The place is packed to the nines, but everybody is pretty happy. And why wouldn’t they be? There are drink specials and free giveaways all day; one never feels like they are being ripped off when they come to Napper Tandy’s. On St Patrick’s Day, Napper Tandy’s is the place where you want to be. Good times, good friends, really good fun. They aren’t just a great bar on St. Paddy’s, other days of the week there are cheap burgers and beers, a beer pong tournament and DJ’s. They even have a night devoted just to UFC! But on St Paddy’s Day, come to Napper Tandy’s in Smithtown NY. I guarantee you will love it. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Very Fun Place For A St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl In Wrightsville Beach, NC

Posted by tluke on March 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Jerry Allen's Sport Bar & GrillAfter visiting this place several times, I’m formally submitting a recommendation for Jerry Allen’s Sports Bar & Grill. On an average period from Thursday through Saturday, this little piece of real estate in Wrightsville Beach, NC is packed with people of all ages from UNCW and other various local colleges. Thursday nights are the best nights to go. They have $1 beers, $2 well drinks, $3 soco with lime shots and $4 yager bombs. I haven’t heard a lot about their St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but from the little bit I’ve heard they go all out for it (I’ve only been in North Carolina for a few months now). The staff there is really friendly and easy to get along with, and many of the bar patrons are the friendliest I’ve encountered. It’s a bit of a drive to get to from Wilmington, considering how many different streets you have to get there, but once you’re there it’s a pleasant spot. If you’re into doing pub crawls, there are a few more bars located around Jerry Allen’s. If you ever find yourself in the Wilmington area, make sure you visit this place. I think it definitely beats many of the places that are in downtown Wilmington. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

The Fox and HoundsWhat makes for a good bar for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? First and foremost you want a place with a lively clientele. It has to have great food. There needs to be great beer on tap, a good selection of Irish whiskey, and some good drink choices for the designated driver. The Fox and Hounds in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles is highly recommended. The Fox and Hounds is a true U.K. style pub. It’s busy any night of the week, but it really comes alive on St. Patrick’s Day. The local ex-pats turn out in force and they really know how to have a good time. No date for the night? New in town? This is the place! You will not be lonely in this pub. There is always a lot going on and plenty of people to talk to. It’s a very friendly crowd. On the menu you’ll find such classic pub food as bangers and mash, fish and chips, shepherds pie, and Cornish pasties. They also have great nibblers, including chips with curry sauce, nachos, onion rings, and Scotch eggs. Of course on St. Patrick’s Day they will be serving corned beef and cabbage. Besides all that, they have darts, sports on TV (great place to catch the soccer game), and a fine array of beer on tap. Everybody has a good time at the Fox and Hounds on St. Patrick’s Day. Kevin Barry's Irish PubWant a true Irish experience for St. Patrick’s Day but can’t afford to fly to Ireland? No problem, in the deep south there is a Irish pub ready to cater to your needs. Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub is located in one of the oldest buildings in Savannah with a view of the Savannah River. The second floor is called the “Hall of Hero’s” which houses a museum honoring Police, First Responders, and Military heroes past and present. Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub sells the 2nd most amount of Guinness beer, the perfect drink for their delicious Corned Beef & Cabbage served with potatoes and carrots. Stay Cheery At Tip O’Leary’s In Havertown, PA

Tip O'Leary'sIt’s easy to be cheery when you come to Tip O’Leary’s. Easily located off of West Chester Pike in Havertown, this establishment of merriment is ideally located for suburbanites and adventurous city dwellers who need to get out. Open seven days a week, you don’t have to be Irish to enjoy what’s in store for you inside, but being able to down a pint or two with your friends certainly helps. A relaxed atmosphere awaits you inside for nocturnal activities ranging from drinking at the bar to sitting down at a table in the restaurant section with your children for a family-style meal. On warmer days, take leave and enjoy sipping or dining on their open porch. Weekends are always a popular time for all ages. I particularly like to come here on Saturday nights with friends for a couple drinks and laughs, which is always easy to do when prices are affordable and the food is enjoyable. The next best thing to a late night at Tip O’Leary’s is coming back the next morning for a quiet Sunday breakfast. Brunches don’t get much better than watching the Eagles on one of their three big screen TVs and downing a pint, or a soda with the kids. There’s also live music during the week, so you don’t need to wait for the weekend any longer. All in all, you don’t need to spend a lot of green to enjoy the green beer and Irish themed atmosphere inside. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Celebrate St. Patty’s Day At Highlander Bar & Grill In San Antonio, TX

Posted by tluke on March 16, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Highlander Bar & GrillHighlander Bar & Grill is nestled in the middle of San Antonio’s busy Medical Center, and it’s a great place to go and unwind from the stress and the trauma of the day. The bar has been around, in different incarnations, for many years, so it’s very comfortably worn-in. There are lots of little tables and comfy couches scattered throughout the bar, and some well-used pool tables in back. If the weather’s nice, head outside and enjoy a beer or two on the huge patio. Drink specials are more than reasonable, especially for the area, and Highlander will frequently run .25 cent wing specials, which are always really popular. If wings aren’t your thing, you can tuck into a huge, meant-to-be-shared plate of nachos or order a juicy burger from the bar. The bartending team and waitstaff really enjoy dressing up and putting on a show for virtually any occasion. Even better, Highlander is comfortable with large groups and can handle a table of 10, 20, or even 30 customers with no worries. All they ask is that you call first so they can start pushing the tables together! This is a great place to celebrate the Irish holiday, Saint Patrick’s Day. It may not be an Irish Pub, but they sure know how to celebrate. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Mad Dogs British PubMad Dogs British Pub in San Antonio is a wonderful location to spend your St. Patrick ’s Day! It’s full of lively, entertaining music and wonderful people, not to mention of course the delicious brews! Although my personal favorite is their frozen margarita, they have more types of beer on tap then you could ever ask for. Rumor has it they will be serving special green beer on St. Patty’s Day, which you don’t want to miss out on! Whether it’s a Holiday or not, go on down to San Antonio’s picturesque riverwalk and hang out at Mad Dogs – each day of the week there is something to do there – plus, the bartenders and waitresses are all really personable. Men will appreciate the short skirts of the waitresses, but women can look forward to a good conversation with an attractive bartender with a wonderful accent. Plus, great food and entertainment are never far at the Riverwalk. It is the perfect place to hang out with friends, have a party, or meet new friends! With all these pros, and great prices to boot, you’ll never want to go anywhere else when you are in San Antonio. It’s like you’re actually in an British pub! If You Live In Seattle And You’ve Never Been To Ireland, You’ll Find It At The Owl n’ Thistle

Posted by tluke on March 15, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Owl N' ThistleI moved away from Seattle several years ago and I miss many things about the wonderful city. Owl n’ Thistle Irish Pub maybe one of the places I miss most. I’d never been to an Irish bar before 1996 when one of my friends asked me to meet him there one weekend night. I was immediately taken by the music. The Owl, as we called it, was home to Seattle’s leading Irish musicians.  The one common denominator with all the bands I saw there was the authenticity of the bands. These were genuine Irishmen, not Americans trying on lame Irish accents. Another thing I loved about the Owl was the food. While Ireland isn’t known for culinary excellence, I found the Owl’s food to be excellent and the portions to be right. The food was so good that I made it a typical first date destination. I’d especially recommend visiting on St. Patrick’s Day. Multiple bands, the proper Irish spirit and an environment that can’t be beat. You won’t find troublemakers passing out from too much green Miller Lite, just people who appreciate the Irish culture and want to celebrate the right way. Ye Old King’s Head Brings St. Patrick’s Day To The Beach In Santa Monica, CA

Posted by tluke on March 15, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Ye Old King's HeadYe Old King’s Head – or just “King’s Head” to the locals, which, in this case means anyone from Great Britain to Santa Monica – is where the Brit expats and tourists gather for beer, food, and company. On St. Patrick’s Day people everywhere put on green ties or shirts, and have a non-stop rowdy party. This 30-year-old pub takes green to a new level, with a party that is probably heard more than 6,000 miles away in Ireland. On a regular day, the place is filled with the sounds of live sports from the UK (rugby and soccer, anyone?) and wild stories. On March 17th, however, everything turns green and big – from the food to the décor, and green beer never tasted this good. As if patrons weren’t lucky enough to be in a little Tudor pub at the beach in Santa Monica, they get to try Brit Dogs, Potato Skins, Pork Pie and Breaded Mushrooms, not regular beach fare. Guinness Stout leads the lists of beers. They sell meat pies and Irish Cheddar cheese to go. On St. Patrick’s Day, the place gets more wild than a World Cup game with the home team. Just think Guinness beer, crazy green darts, old friends, drunk new people and everyone in green. To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory
