A Time Portal At The Franklin Fountain In Philadelphia, PA

Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

the franklin fountainThe Franklin Fountain is one of the greatest ice cream shops in Philadelphia, PA. What makes this business unique is that buying ice cream and other items in this establishment is reminiscent of soda fountains and ice cream shops from the early 20th century. The equipment, décor, and servers all imitate ice cream shops from over 75 years ago. The sundae selections are to die for. The Franklin Mint is one of my favorites. This sundae is made of mint chip and vanilla ice cream, covered in crème de mint, chocolate sauce, marshmallow, whipped cream, and two green cherries on top. Other sundaes that would recommend are The Lightning Rod. This sundae has a brownie, surrounded by coffee ice cream, bathed in espresso. This sundae also comes with chocolate covered espresso beans and coconut flakes. All of the ice cream that is served is home made by the proprietors. Two brothers, Ryan and Eric Berley, founded the Franklin Fountain in 2004. The most popular flavors of ice cream the Franklin House makes are cherry vanilla, peanut butter, mint (green and white), chocolate chip, hydrox cookie, teaberry gum, chocolate, peach, banana, black raspberry, pistachio, and black licorice to name a few. One can sample flavors popular in the 1920’s and 1930’s from old recipes. When visiting the Franklin House, one must try the soda fountain. There are 25 flavors of homemade sodas. Ice cream floats are also a popular choice. If one wants healthy fruit drinks, one can order fresh lemonade, limeade, and orangeade. There are also pies and cakes baked freshly on the premises. These rotate with the season. For more classic shops like this one, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Eating & Drinking Places, Valentine's Day / No Comments

Gourmandise BakeryValentine’s Day requires something special with that special someone. In downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, Gourmandise  is the perfect bakery to feel that romantic atmosphere. The first time I went was with a group of friends; we were hungry and we decided to try something new. As soon as we walked in, we knew we had made the right choice. Up at the counter is a glass display of all their desserts. In addition to how good everything looked, it also looked like various pieces of art. There were little cakes with music symbols decorated on them and tarts that had strawberries and kiwis adorned in intricate designs. Don’t let the name fool you; Gourmandise has not only award-winning European baked goods, but also normal restaurant-type food. Its ambiance is also spectacular with its classy-looking furniture and lighting, perfect for an ideal date with your ideal person. My friends and I were trying to think of the perfect place to go to eat for our group date this Valentine’s Day. That was when we remembered how much we loved Gourmandise and the perfect food. I highly recommend it for all couples, whether it be just as friends or something more. To find other great places in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

So Good You’ll Think It’s A Dream: Buttonwood Farm Ice Cream In Voluntown, CT

Posted by Keri W. on September 03, 2009
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

buttonwoodFor years I have been stopping at Buttonwood Farm Ice Cream in Voluntown, CT. It is a bit of a drive from my house, but I have never been disappointed. Its country setting offers the perfect atmosphere for a family outing. Children can run free in the fields, or families can take a stroll through the farm. In the summer the fields are full of sunflowers and it is such a beautiful sight to see them in bloom. Aside from the fantastic views, the ice cream is fantastic! It is so fresh and I would say that it is the best homemade ice cream that I have ever had. They offer lots of flavors and some unique ones such as chocolate cherry and brownie batter blast, although I prefer to stick with the traditional vanilla. There are also options for sundaes and pints to take home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I usually ask to sample a few flavors before I decide and they always offers their own input. They are only open seasonally, so I would call ahead if you plan on visiting in one of the cooler months. There is usually a crowd, but with 5 or 6 windows the lines move pretty quickly and with all of the open space there are plenty of spots to sit. An ice cream from Buttonwood Farm is worth every penny. Flipping and scanning through a traditional phone book isn’t worth every minute of your time, so try using globalYP.net, searchable online yellow pages.

Casa Italiana have the best homemade Italian sub sandwiches in Canandaigua New York

Posted by admin on August 06, 2009
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Casa ItalianaI have never tasted a sandwhich that had such premium as well as authentic Italian ingredients. I enjoy Casa Italiana because they make their own homemade bread, that is so soft and freshly made everyday. They even slice the meat right in front of you when making your sandwich. It is a family owned company and the service is always friendly. Another thing I enjoy about it is the amount of food you get. Most sandwich places only give you a small amount of meat, but their subs are filled with a lot of meat, so you get what you pay for. The prices are reasonable and best of all they are very quick. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon they have tons of customers and you think it will take forever to get your food, but they work very fast and can get through customers in no time. All without sacrificing the service they provide, which is great! The location is also very accessible. They have plenty of parking even on those days that they are especially busy. Another great thing about Casa Italiana is that they also do catering as well. So if you are looking for a really good sub made with top ingredients Casa Italian is the place to go.
