Anyone in need of a cool, sweet, refreshing goody on a hot summer day could find their fix at Kawaii Shaved Ice at 113 N. Mays St. in Round Rock, Texas! This one-of-a-kind snow cone shop is a local favorite and it is so easy to see why. The ice used in the snow cones is made out of purified drinking water that comes from “The Water Jug” in the adjoining building. Over fifty syrup flavors that are homespun and completely delicious are available for customers to choose from. Favorite flavors include everything from cherry and grape to wedding cake and bubblegum. Any cone can be topped with sweet cream or extra syrup for a few more cents. Over the years, Kawaii’s has expanded into other yummy territory, like fresh fruit smoothies and ice cream! Do not fret over all the choices, though! Each one is delicious and bound to make mouths water, keeping the customers lining up for more. Be sure to bring cash with you! Credit cards and checks are not accepted and it would be a shame to get to the front of the line and realize that a yummy snack just slipped through your fingers! I have been a patron of Kawaii’s since I was a very young girl I love it so much that I even take the kids I baby-sit on occasion. I have yet to find a friend that does not like at least one item on their menu and I doubt that I ever will. For more tasty shops like this one, visit globalYP.net, an online directory.

Forget Ben & Jerry’s, forget Haagen-Dazs…Queen City Creamery in Cumberland, Maryland has the best ice cream you will ever taste! I say “ice cream”, but technically, it’s frozen custard. The difference is the addition of egg yolks, which give frozen custard a smoother and creamier taste than plain old ice cream. In addition to the regular flavors of chocolate and vanilla, which are served every day, Queen City Creamery also serves a different featured flavor every day. To name just a few of the flavors that you might find, there’s: Pistachio, Blueberry Muffin, Chocolate, M&M, White House Cherry, Dreamsicle …and my personal favorite, Take 5 (tastes just like the candy bar!) You can have those flavors served in a cup or on a homemade waffle cone, or in a variety of sundaes with just about any topping you can think of. You can also have them made into a milkshake, or packed as pints or quarts for you to take home! Although the frozen custard is definitely the star of the show, Queen City Creamery is more than just dessert. They also feature a full menu of breakfast options, and deli soups and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. And all day long, they serve all the coffee drinks you could want – cappuccinos, lattes, espressos and more. All this, in the beautiful setting of historic downtown Cumberland! Just steps from the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, and right off Interstate 68… you won’t regret visiting Queen City Creamery! Heyn’s Ice Cream Shop in Iowa City, Iowa is my favorite place to visit during the summer. The environment is the traditional small Midwestern ice cream shop. There are only a few booths inside to enjoy their delicious treats. Most people choose to gather in the parking lots and visit while eating the ice cream. The best part about Heyn’s is that the ice cream is freshly made at the shop daily. There are about forty different flavors to choose from at any one time, and you can sample as many flavors as you like before making a decision on what to buy. One of my favorite flavors is cookie dough. The cookie dough is homemade before it is mixed in the ice cream. I was impressed that instead of traditional cookie dough ice cream, the batter is oatmeal cookie dough. It gives the dessert a better texture and flavor. My other favorite is the cake batter. It is very rich, and I can’t eat more than one scoop at a time. What impresses me most is how close it tastes to a cake batter I would make at home. You can actually taste the cake mix in the ice cream! I recommend that anyone driving through Iowa City should stop at Heyn’s to enjoy the best ice cream I have ever tasted. You will not be disappointed, and it is very affordable. The scoops are huge as well. It’s very easy to find local business listings online with globalYP.net.
Toft’s Dairy in Sandusky, Ohio is a unique place to meet your ice cream needs. Situated in Sandusky near Lake Erie, it is perfect to grab a cone and go to the lake and eat or watch the sunset. But you don’t have to eat by the lake, as Toft’s also has places to eat on site such as outdoor tables, or you can grab one of the old wooden school desks. They have an amazing selection of flavors, so choosing which flavor is difficult to do. Even a seasoned Toft’s veteran can take a minute to figure out what they may want. The ice cream is very fresh as Toft’s also sells ice cream by the half and full gallons across the country. So when a flavor runs out in the dairy bar, they just grab a fresh tub of just made ice cream off of the production line to serve so it’s never freezer burnt like some places. The servings are enormous. A small sized cup/cone is two big scoops, and hard for even a large person such as myself to finish. I usually have to share with my date, which is just another excuse to go to Toft’s. Toft’s doesn’t just serve ice cream, they also sell hot loose meat sandwiches in the winter to warm you up on those cold Ohio days. The prices are MORE than reasonable as they are a manufacturer and there is no middle man. Toft’s is very family oriented so grab the kids, invite grandma and grandpa, and go to Toft’s and have a tasty treat at an affordable price. If you want the best ice cream in the United States, look no further than Izzy’s Ice Cream Café in St. Paul, Minnesota. What makes Izzy’s Ice Cream Café so special is the quality of the flavors in their ice cream. Their strawberry ice cream actually tastes like strawberries in cream, instead of the typical strawberry ice cream flavor that has so little to do with actual strawberries. Their banana ice cream is just like an actual banana, as well. This carries throughout their flavors (especially the multiple coffee flavors). They also have a number of more adult flavors. Some of these may be more gourmet-oriented, such as the chocolate hazelnut, which is reminiscent of a good gianduja. Others contain liquor and appeal to an adult palette in that fashion. Especially worthy of note is the Cherries Jubilee, with real liquor soaked cherries, and the Guinness ice cream, which strikes a perfect combination of the taste of ice cream and Guinness—it’s unexpected, yet strangely familiar. Izzy’s shtick is the “Izzy Scoop”. Every single or double comes with a free mini scoop of another flavor. This is a great way to try out another flavor without committing to it. One final trick, as you’re walking into the store, look at the flavors in the case as you make your way back. This will allow you to make quicker, easier choices, and get you to your ice cream sooner! Find things sooner with globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.
Anytime I come to Columbus, OH on business I make it a point to stop at Jeni’s Ice Creams. I have visited both of their locations at the North Market and Short North. It does not matter which location you choose, the service and ice cream will be equally exquisite. A majority of their ice cream flavors are combinations you would never expect to find, but they blend together masterfully. Gravel Road (salty caramel with tasty almonds) and Salty Carmel are my two favorite orders at Jeni’s. They also seem to be local favorites. I almost always get the trio when I go. You receive three scoops of ice cream for $4.25. That way I get three wonderful flavors instead of one! Another added bonus about Jeni’s is that you get free samples. This is half the fun! This place has all kinds of tasty seasonal ice creams that are a delight to sample. If you like a particular flavor, they sell pints at very reasonable prices. Jeni’s staff is also very accommodating and knowledgeable. So if you ever are passing through or visiting Columbus and have the urge for sweets, I highly suggest a stop at this ice cream paradise. There is a place in Southwick, Massachusetts called The Summer House. Everyone in town knows of it, but Southwick is small so I would like to get the word out. The Summer House is primarily an ice cream place yet they also serve some of the best (almost as fast as a fast food joint but better tasting and made with better ingredients) food in town. The Summer House gets its name from the fact that once upon a time they were only open during the summer, but they have been open year round for over a decade now. They serve their burgers on toast and make fresh homemade soups daily. Their ice cream selection is vast and includes every flavor you could ever think of. If you are thinking they do not dish out enough ice cream to satisfy your hunger – think again. The Summer House is home to The Super Bowl, which is a ridiculous amount of ice cream with banana and toppings on any flavor ice cream you want. On top of all this, their prices are low and their service is friendly. There is nothing more anyone could ask for in an ice cream parlor. This place rocks! Looking for more? Happy House Restaurant is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Monett area. It is a family-owned restaurant. They have great prices and great food. You can order from a menu or like most customers do, go to the buffet. They also have a drive-up window for take-out. We especially love their buffet. There is so much to choose from. Their bread rolls are just wonderful. There is something for every taste: all kinds of meat, like chicken, pork, beef, shrimp and salmon, in addition to vegetables, such as mushrooms, potatoes, green beans, broccoli, corn, cauliflower and carrots. The buffet also has egg rolls, crab Rangoon, noodles, rice, soup, won-tons and more. This restaurant also offers a salad bar and a dessert bar, which includes pudding, pastries, and pieces of watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melons, peaches, mandarin oranges, and an ice cream machine. Why go to a fast-food restaurant, pay the same price, eat unhealthy junk food and get out of there hungry when you can have a delicious meal at Happy House Restaurant for the same price? To me, this place is the best restaurant around, whether it be for Chinese Food or anything else. I think that they picked the right name for their restaurant, because it makes my family happy to eat there. You’ll be happy to save time with globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.
