Stoney Point Grill located in Mokena, IL is a well-known restaurant that has a little bit of everything. Being just a restaurant and bar would not appropriately describe this fine establishment. This place serves wonderful food, has a great atmosphere and is perfect if you’re looking to watch the big game! You can sit back in the friendly atmosphere and eat some of the best food, which resembles a northern woods style menu, consisting of favorites such as barbeque ribs, many varieties of fish dinners, and some of the best chicken and burgers, just to name a few. The daily specials at Stoney Point are also of excellent value, such as every Tuesday the Stoney Burger and fries is offered for $4.95, well below its regular price, and every Wednesday you can get tacos for only a dollar each! There are also many types of domestic and imported alcoholic beverages, and very nice servers and bartenders that serve all the food and drinks. What sets apart Stoney Point from other places is that the entertainment never stops. They have multiple large, high definition televisions throughout the building so the big game or event will never be missed. However, to make Stoney Point even more enjoyable is that it also serves as an off-track wagering facility if you are a person who enjoys watching horses and horse racing! Stoney Point Bar and Grill is the best place to eat good, watch the game, and win some money! To find other great places in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

There is only one bar I go to for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and that is Cork And Kerry on Western Ave in Chicago! On normal weekends, this bar is a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a nice evening out together. It is plenty big so it isn’t crowded, but is large enough so it isn’t some small scale bar. Normally, me and my friends just hang out and enjoy ourselves in the legendary beer garden. We’ve never really had trouble finding tables unless it’s a really busy night. However, this place is even more fun when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around. Last year, the bar went all out with decorations and lighting. Plenty of women, good music, and affordable drinks! If I remember correctly they had a DJ and had some contests going on for gift cards and other decent prizes. The night life is definitely happening here on that holiday. If you wear green, you receive a discount on drinks. This place is open late so the party goes on all night. It’s almost hard to describe how much fun it is, so it is something you have to experience for yourself! Overall, go to Cork and Kerry’s this St. Patrick’s Day! Mickey Finn’s is the place to be for St. Patty’s Day. You’ll find friendly and efficient servers, an upscale but very comfortable atmosphere, and unique-blend ales that you cannot find anywhere else. There is a week-long celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, with bands, beers, and fun charity events. You can indulge in traditional Irish fare, from Corned Beef and Cabbage to Sheperd’s Pie. The portions are generous and affordable, and the merriment will be priceless. Whether you want to celebrate in the brick-walled main dining area, line up at the bar in the Amber Room, or (in summer) relax on the patio, you will find ample places to mingle with friends and enjoy the ambiance. There are always new bands playing, events to benefit the community, and great food served with a smile. If you have never enjoyed the rare taste of a small brewery ale, you are in for a real treat. Mickey Finn’s brews their own beer. They use only natural ingredients, and have garnered an astounding amount of awards for their ales. You owe it to yourself to do St. Patrick’s Day right – head over to Mickey Finn’s! To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.
Gino’s East has by far the best deep dish pizza in Chicago. I’m a student in New York but I always look forward to coming home and eating some fabulous deep dish pizza. I’ve been to most of the locations in the Chicagoland area and have never been disappointed in the 15 years I’ve been going there. The pizza crust is unique and delicious and the sauce is by far the best I’ve had. Their cheese deep dish is my favorite, but they also serve a signature sausage pizza. Instead of individual chunks of sausage, it comes as one very large patty, sounds crazy but it’s delicious. It usually takes around 40 minutes for the pizza to cook, but that’s because it cooked fresh when you order. Even better than the pizza is the environment. The walls are COVERED in paint and permanent marker signatures from visitors of the restaurant. I recommend bringing sharpies and if you’re feeling adventurous, acrylic paints to write all over the walls. Gino’s is also very kid-friendly. When I was little, I got a kick out of being able to write all over everything without getting in trouble. To find other great places in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.
Located about 40 miles north of Chicago in Libertyville, Illinois, The Present Moment is a unique shop that will always have you leaving in a peaceful and positive mood. A one-of-a-kind collection of the most uplifting and enlightening products around, this little shop sits in the middle of a downtown section that reminds one of Mayberry USA. The calm and unhurried pace of the downtown area is carried over into an exclusive store that not only features unique gifts and art work, but offers workshops and other special events that are focused on self-improvement. With big overstuffed chairs, delicious treats and beautiful décor, you feel not only comfortable, but welcome. They take pride in providing services that cater to your heart, soul, mind and body. The gift selection is expansive – everything from spa supplies to gourmet treats, books, artwork, jewelry and much more. What is not surprising in a shop of this type is the genuine care for customers, which is surely contributing to their continued success in our current economy. Workshops, lectures and interactive events are also offered to help teach and inspire patrons in a wide range of subjects that promote physical and emotional well-being. Perhaps it is, in fact, a reflection of our economy that in times of need, The Present Moment is exactly the kind of shop that we need – a relaxing haven filled with life-affirming, positive messages. Sluggers Sports Bar, located in Wrigleyville in Chicago, is a great place to spend a memorable evening. Wrigleyville is a great neighborhood, always fun, and Sluggers is the best bar in the area! The bar has a super casual environment. It’s not too expensive, and they have a great full menu of bar food. Sluggers is always playing great music. There are tons of television screens in the lower level, so there’s always something to watch. You practically feel like you have your own television screen. Plus, the bar features great dueling pianos on the upper level. Everyone is always having a great time, singing loudly and dancing along to the songs. The piano players are so lively and put everyone in a good mood. You can also find a roomful of arcade games – mini bowling and basketball – and batting cages, which are always entertaining. Personally, our nights almost always end with intense Skee-ball tournaments. Sluggers is right by Wrigley Field, so the atmosphere after every Cubs game is electric, whether the team has won or lost. But even in the off-season, the bar is always packed, and every time we’ve gone to Sluggers, my friends and I have had a great time. Sluggers is a classic neighborhood bar, not to be missed! A great place to take a date on Valentine’s Day is the Signature Room. It is a restaurant located in Chicago, IL on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building. It is an extremely elegant atmosphere and very classy. Almost the entire restaurant overlooks the surrounding downtown sky-scrapers and Lake Michigan. There is also live musical entertainment, usually a pianist or a jazz band – nothing too loud, just enough to keep the romance in the air. The food is also delicious although a bit pricey. However when you take your date out for Valentine’s Day you shouldn’t worry about spending too much on your date. You won’t find hamburgers and fries that’s for sure, as the Signature Room has many elegant and high-class meals such as an extremely fine cut of filet and many seafood dishes that I wouldn’t even know how to pronounce! The service is wonderful as well. Any time you go to sit down or stand up, someone comes by to pull your chair in or out, even if you are just taking a trip to the bathroom. Also, every time the server comes by, they clean off the table for you in a very professional manner, even going as far to wipe away bread crumbs using a knife. Unfortunately I don’t have a date this year so I won’t be going, but it would definitely be my first choice! When you’re done eating you can take a short ride up to the 96th Floor and enjoy the view from the Lounge. To find other places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.
I recently tried The Village Grind Coffee & Tea shop and to my surprise, it was great. It’s cozy, yet welcoming and enjoyable. I ordered the Iced Cappuccino, which is actually one of my new favorites. The service was wonderful. The drink was done immediately, made fresh, and tasted great! As far as prices were concerned they are very reasonable. Some items did seem overpriced but for a cup of Joe and perhaps some sort of treat, you couldn’t go wrong. The shop is filled with a few places to sit, some newspapers, and all sorts of knick knacks. I’m sure some individuals just go there for home decorations. There are several rooms to the place, each rather small. I could imagine this place is rather cramped during rushes but overall was fine at any other time. I could see in the summer they sell all sorts of ice cream which just gives me an excuse to go when it is warm out. The shop is located downtown Oswego right down Main St. This location is great, it allows you to take your coffee and go to the library, sit near the park, or enjoy the river. Overall, I highly recommend this place; I might just head over there to read a book sometime soon, you should too! What could be more romantic than an intimate dinner cruise on Valentine’s Day? If you happen to live in the Chicago area, you’re in for a treat! Odyssey, a luxurious cruise vessel, is offering a 3-hour dinner cruise this Valentine’s Day, complete with live music and dancing, complimentary champagne and a keepsake photo. Having dined aboard Odyssey on Chicago’s Lake Michigan, I can attest to the fact that this is an experience you will remember for many years to come. There were several things that I enjoyed about my Odyssey experience. One was the amazing food (and trust me, you will be presented with enough food to fill you up for an entire week!). Another was being able to take a mini cruise without having to save hundreds of dollars or take vacation leave from my job. I am one who loves the water, and any opportunity that I get to enjoy the waves and the breathtaking scenery is one that I truly relish. Then there is the fact that even though Odyssey tends to pack in quite a crowd during special occasions, the setting is still quite intimate to where you can focus 100% on your significant other and bask in the splendor of the moment. If you’d prefer to dine in the afternoon so that you can be home by the evening, you can opt for Odyssey’s 2-hour brunch cruise, which is sure to be every bit as enjoyable and is less than half the price of the dinner cruise. Odyssey cruises are also available in Boston and Washington, D.C. and reservations can be made either by phone or online. Sweet Dream Desserts in Sycamore, IL, is the perfect place to take your date this Valentine’s Day. Open for lunch, this bakery charges by the pound for their delicious soups, sandwiches, and salads. It’s easy for both people to get exactly what they want at a reasonable price. The best part of this café is the cupcake and cheesecake selection. Made fresh every day, Sweet Dreams offers delectable cupcakes in three standard flavors of vanilla, chocolate, or chocolate-dipped ganache and often a special flavor of the day such as red velvet, carrot, lemon-lime, peanut butter, or spice. The sweet cream filling will make any girls heart melt. Located conveniently on Bethany Road and Route 23, the restaurant is close to uptown activities like bowling and shopping. If staying for lunch isn’t a possibility, they will make up box lunches upon request. The selection of desserts isn’t to be rivaled.
