I have always hated the dentist (and still do). However, the folks at Affordable Dentistry Today always make my visits as pleasant as possible. Dr. Stevenson is so nice and accommodating. In fact, one night I called her after business hours with a terrible toothache and asked her if I could have an early appointment the next morning. She not only set up the appointment, but also gave me a root canal on the dental assistants are very well qualified and nice. They do everything you would expect from a dental office. They do routine check-ups, whitening, polishing, and of course extractions. Affordable Dentistry Today’s hours are completely up to the customer! You make the call and most of the time they can work in an appointment around your schedule. Like I stated earlier, I absolutely hate going to the dentist! Yet, the people at Affordable Dentistry Today in Litchfield, Illinois make my visits as low stress as possible. If you have any kind of dental problems I whole-heartedly endorse them without hesitation. Don’t hesitate to check out globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

I love pizza and Chandler Brothers Hometown Pizzeria and it is by far my favorite place to grab a pizza. They have a full and diverse menu of unique pizzas! This is one of my main reasons for going there. Far too many chain pizza places that shall remain unnamed are basically the same pizza under a different box, not so with Chandler Brothers. My personal favorite pizza is the Alfredo pizza. It is amazing and if you go there I highly recommend it. In addition to their great pizzas they also deliver. They also offer a family feast special where you get a sub, salad, large pizza, and soda for a very reasonable price. So if you feel like staying in, Chandler Brothers is a great option. Another highlight is their Thursday night pizza buffet special. This buffet is top of the line! All the pizza you can eat! It is like heaven on earth. It is family owned and operated and with that you get a special kind of service from Chandler Brothers. When you walk in the door you most certainly will feel welcomed. Therefore, if you are on your way to Springfield or St. Louis on I-55 I would highly recommend a quick stop at Chandler Brothers Hometown Pizzeria. I am by no means a good bowler. However, despite my poor abilities bowling is one of my favorite things to do on a rainy day. The Litchfield Bowling Alley is my favorite place to bowl. The atmosphere is great. There are plenty of lanes to bowl on, they have a nice staff. There is a bar with a full menu, a pool hall, and an arcade for the kids. You can go with your friends and have a few beers, or you can enjoy a nice family evening. The best part about it is how amazingly cheap it is to bowl. It only costs three dollars per person to play a game (this is including the bowling shoe rental if you need them). On average, when I go to the bowling alley with my family I spend less than forty dollars. This is including bowling, food, and drinks! Plus, their beer and alcohol is not as dreadfully overpriced as many other bowling alleys. If you are a serious bowler (unlike me) you can come on Thursday nights. On Thursdays there is a bowling league. The Litchfield bowling alley really is a family friendly environment for all ages. I would recommend it to anyone wants to enjoy a fun and cheap evening. Last year I got a speeding ticket for supposedly going thirty-five miles per hour in a thirty mph speed zone. Needless to say I was furious when I got the ticket. Up until that point I had a perfect driving record. Being a young male with a sports car my insurance was sure to go through the roof! (Even more) Therefore, I decided to take the issue to court. After doing some online research, I decided to utilize the services of Mr. Andy Scharf. Unlike most lawyers Andy really is a nice guy. He offered me a fair price and we took the case to the Montgomery County court in Hillsboro, IL. We won the case easily and I did not even have to take a Drivers Safety course! My car insurance is back to normal and I am glad I decided to take this case to court. In the long run I will save the money I spent on a lawyer with the money saved in my smaller insurance bill. Mr. Scharf is extremely well spoken and more importantly has many connections in the Montgomery/Macoupin county area. If you have any traffic issues I highly recommend him. He actually has a 10-0 DUI jury trial record. If you’re in a legal bind in Montgomery or Macoupin County he’s your best option! Want to find more great businesses in your area? A few years ago I was traveling down Historic Old Route 66 and noticed Jubelt’s Bakery. Normally my friends and I go to another historically locally owned restaurant called the Ariston down the road. However, on this day I was craving baked goods. My friends went to the Ariston but my wife and I went to Jubelt’s. This was a great decision. When you walk in, you immediately sense the nice hometown atmosphere of this place. It’s not like any of those chain restaurants or bakeries. The people who own this place take pride in getting to know their customers. It really brings you back to simpler time, back when Route 66 was still young. In addition to the nice people and atmosphere Jubelt’s had a full menu and basically every baked good known to man. My wife and I ordered a few donuts with some coffee and we talked to locals. Their hot food is also very good. One morning my wife and I both ordered a number 1 (two jumbo eggs, bacon, sausage, or ham, and three large buttermilk pancakes). Their food honestly reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. Jubelt’s is a great place to enjoy some nice hometown pastries or full meal. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice locally owned restaurant. Jubelt’s is open from five in the morning until nine at night. Club TNT in Litchfield, Illinois has it all. On weeknights it is a great place to shoot pool, play darts, or watch the big game. If you prefer a more relaxed “chill” bar (as I do) then Club TNT is exactly that on most weeknights. I have watched countless Cardinals baseball games at this bar/club. It has seven TVs, including Two 10′ Projection Screens. Club TNT has a full menu from eleven in the morning until ten at night. However, people do not go to Club TNT for the food! They go to have fun! On weekends this place dramatically changes. People from all around the area come to dance and have a fun night out. I would recommend going on Saturday night. On Saturdays there is always a live band playing. Club TNT always has good old fashioned local rock bands play; there is none of that techno bologna here. Overall Club TNT is a great place to meet new people or just relax with friends. This bar really has everything. In my opinion it’s by far the best club and bar outside of St. Louis. I would highly recommend a visit on the weekend. Visit globalYP.net, online yellow pages, to find more fun things to do this weekend.
Skyview Drive-in in Litchfield, Illinois is the ideal place to spend an evening with the family. It is located just off Historic U.S. Route 66 and is a great place to relive the atmosphere of the 1950s. It is one of only a handful of drive-ins left in Illinois. In addition to the wonderful environment, a trip to Skyview is very cheap. All you need is $20.00 and a vehicle and you are set for the night. The entrance fee is only two dollars per person. This two dollar admission fee will usually get you into a double feature! The first movie starts at sundown and a second will start immediately after. After you pay, you simply find a parking spot somewhere in the viewing lot and tune into radio station 103.1. However, if you come with your family I would highly recommend parking in the middle or front of the viewing lot (away from all the young couples in the back). If you are hungry, in the center of the drive-in’s viewing lot is a snack bar. The food here is pretty decent. The drive-in is only open on Friday and Saturday nights during the warm seasons. It closes down for the fall and winter (it also will close because of rain). Overall ,this is an inexpensive and fun place to have a good time with friends or family. It is a truly unique experience to watch a movie from the comfort of your car. I couldn’t help but think of my grandparents and the musical “Grease” as I soaked in this wonderful historical landmark. If you hate those glitzy dancing bars and prefer a more relaxed environment Chiefs Tavern is the right place for you. Chiefs is a small bar located in central Litchfield. The bartenders are friendly and smokers must smoke outside. You can play pool, darts, or video poker if you so choose. In addition to this, you can eat as much of their free popcorn as you want. Normally I would not mention this because most bars have, well, bar food. However, this popcorn is on par with the best movie theatre popcorns! Yet aside from the free popcorn Chiefs is strictly a bar. There are no restaurants within walking distance. Therefore, I would advise eating well before you go. Just like with any other bar you must make sure you go during their prime hours. Thursday nights are best suited for the younger crowds while Friday and Saturday nights have a nice mixture of young and old. If you go on any other days of the week the atmosphere of the bar completely depends on luck and circumstances. You will not find flashing lights, promiscuous minded singles, and obnoxiously loud music at this bar. Chiefs is best for people who want a simple night of fun with their friends. If you are in Litchfield I highly recommend a stop at Chiefs! Stop by globalYP.net to find a simple and easy to use online directory.
The Ariston Café is a Greek family owned business and a great place to stop and rest if you are exploring historic Old Route 66. It has been around since 1924. Plus, it is located at a perfect stopping point. Litchfield, IL is only 50 minutes from St. Louis and 40 minutes from Springfield. I always prefer stopping to eat in smaller towns in order to avoid the congestion and stress of larger cities. Maybe I am old fashioned but I hate eating at generic food places. The Ariston most certainly is not generic in any way. When you walk in you are greeted by a kind staff and the architecture of the building has a distinctive 1950s feel to it. In addition to the nice “hometown environment,” the food was great. I highly recommend ordering a gyro sandwich. The Greek family who owns the Ariston has perfected this Greek delicacy. Oh, and just down the road is the historic Skyview Drive-in. For those of you wanting a truly authentic 1950s Route 66 experience, a stop at the Ariston is a must. I would recommend eating dinner at the Ariston and then going a few miles down 66 to Skyview in order to enjoy a movie at one of only a handful of Drive-ins left in Illinois.
