KC Mulligans

K.C. Mulligan’s is a great place to go to for Holidays. If you aren’t spending New Years with that special someone, K.C. Mulligan’s is always filled with young, single people. It’s in North Charleston, SC. For the big parties like New Years and St. Patrick’s Day, they usually bring in some great music. They have local bands all the time. They also do karaoke during the week. There is fun to be had by all though, but it is a bar, so 21 and up are welcome. It is not a big establishment so it is best to get there early if you want to sit at the bar. It can get pretty smoky considering you can actually still smoke inside and you won’t have to freeze in December/January to get your fix. Check out their MySpace page! You will get a good idea of the type of place it is. It’s a little like Cheers! They have pool tables and should be handing out beads on New Years! The prices are really great and if you start your evening off early enough, you will get the Happy Hour prices which include $1 drinks and good deals on the food. They have a full kitchen, so you won’t go hungry and you don’t have to go to some 24 hour restaurant after you leave because they cook late into the evening! Come party at K.C. Mulligan’s and start 2010 off! To find more great places in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Village Tavern

Cheers idealized the local bar where everyone knows you, and each local tavern strives for this but doesn’t always achieve. I’m happy to say that The Village Tavern in Marcellus NY has become that place. You always feel welcome and the bartender knows your drink. With the New Year’s celebrations come great music, all the people you know and some unfamiliar faces which adds to the fun. When the party gets too rockin’ for you downstairs you can walk on up to the second floor and relax at a table next to the fireplace and chat with friends. While you are upstairs you can order any of the great food options on the menu. The clams and crab legs are always great! The staff is always friendly and you will never wait forever at the bar trying to grab their attention. It’s so nice to walk up to the bar to order and your drink is already there! The owners are usually on site and always willing to chat with people. They have a great understanding of what being THE local tavern is all about and go above and beyond to create that experience. New Years just wouldn’t be the same without the food, music and friends you can always find at The Village Tavern in Marcellus, NY. McGurksThere is nowhere else you want to be more on New Years Eve this year than John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub. The food here is all carefully prepared and served with pride by people who care about what they are doing. The atmosphere is great with old hardwood furniture and traditional Irish decor. The bar is manned by an Irish native who mixes up some of the best drinks you will ever have, including of course the infamous Guinness, as well as several other brews and ales – they even have their own McGurk’s Irish Ale which is actually spectacular! Featuring live music almost every night, McGurk’s is a great place to go any time of the year, but on New Years it truly becomes something special. Featuring a completely custom menu for New Years, including Beef Carpaccio and Pan Seared Scallops, and the best entertainment they have, McGurk’s pulls out all the stops and makes the night really special. This St. Louis favorite is a guarded secret by those who have discovered it and on New Years it takes on a whole new, even better shape. Have A Crazy New Year’s Eve At The Crazy Donkey In Farmingdale, NY!

The Crazy DonkeyThe last few years, the only way my friends and I have even thought about ringing in the New Year has been at the Crazy Donkey’s New Year’s Eve Party. Everyone who goes has a great time, and it’s very convenient for people who live on Long Island looking for fun, but do not want the hassle of going into Times Square. The party starts at 9 pm starting with a classy dinner buffet, complete with carving stations that have a wide selection of food for everyone. I especially like the prime rib that they have had in year’s past. Another great part of the Crazy Donkey’s party is that it has an open bar, depending upon the package that you get, it lasts from either 9pm to midnight, which is $25, or 9pm to 3am, which is only $50. They have top shelf liquor and mixed drinks and a wide selection of beers. Plus, when midnight comes, it is easy to watch the ball drop on one of the Donkey’s many plasma screen televisions. Most likely the best part of New Year’s Eve at the Crazy Donkey is the crowd. People are young, energetic, and love to have fun and enjoy the music and the atmosphere. The Crazy Donkey is the perfect place to ring in the New Year, hopefully I’ll see you there! To find more great places during the Holiday Season, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

It is the best place to relax after spending the day learning about local history related to the Civil War and C&O Canal. In fact, the taverns’ namesake was himself a canal boatman who frequented the place back in the 1930s! Captain Benders serves delicious food including appetizers, salads, and sandwiches such as “The Antietam Reuben Panini”. Of course, it offers a wide range of beer, liquor, and mixed drinks to satisfy the thirstiest patron! Monday through Friday there is Happy Hour from 4-7 p.m to serve all of those tired after a day of hard work or sight-seeing. Just about everybody in southern Washington County knows they can stop by Benders and most likely run into some friends, and that either way they will feel at home in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Right on Main Street, Benders is easily accessible and located in an attractive downtown area. For Anyone Looking For A Quieter New Year’s Eve Among Friends, Choose Zog’s Pool In Chapel Hill, NC!

Posted by tluke on December 27, 2009
Eating & Drinking Places, New Year's Eve / No Comments

Zog's PoolI will be spending New Year’s Eve at Zog’s Pool in Chapel Hill, NC. I am a regular at Zog’s, which can be described as a “neighborhood bar” near the UNC campus. I like it there because it doesn’t get packed with college students, and since I am in my mid-30s it is nice to get away from people who like beer pong and pint chugging. They have a solid clientele of people my age. Zog’s has three pool tables and two dart boards and a really good jukebox. The prices aren’t too bad either, and the have all the beers you would expect plus a few weird microbrews which are always nice to try. I sometimes go there for Trivia night on Mondays. The staff is really friendly and there is no pretense or snobbishness about them. I will be there for New Year’s Eve because they don’t charge a cover fee and most bars around Chapel Hill charge at least $5 to get in on special nights. I’ll be going with a few friends I went to UNC with who will be in town for the holidays, and we feel comfortable in Zog’s. They also run pretty good specials on holiday nights; for Halloween they had fun thematic specials, for example. I know it sounds like it may be boring to NOT go to a bar with a giant party going on, but sometimes it is nice to relax on holiday’s like New Year’s Eve. If you are looking for a quieter New Years celebration, head over to Zog’s, you know I’ll be there! To find more great places during the Holiday Season, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.
