Stonewall Farm is a non-profit organization. It is an educational facility that offers tons of programs, workshops and special events for everyone, all year long. Stonewall Farm has a history going all the way back to the 1700’s. Back in 1759, Stonewall Farm was sold by a man named Samuel Daniels to his son John Daniels. Through the years it was passed on down the line. The farmhouse located on the farm’s acreage was very big. It had a total of 22 rooms. During the summer months, boarders were housed there. I am not claiming to love grocery shopping. On the contrary, I find it to be one of life’s necessary evils. But with three kids with substantial appetites, I try to make the best of a bad situation. Not as well known as its older cousin, The Willie Street Co-op in Madison, the Regent Market Co-Op is a jammin’ place to get your groceries. Small, quiet, and off the beaten path, it might be easy to overlook, but that would be a big mistake. The space is small but packed, they have a nice mix of your name brands and your weirdo-organic-hippie-stuff (the seaweed crackers are amazing). The bulk of the floor space is devoted to dry goods but they do have an aisle for fresh produce and a tiny little deli in the back. It’s a nice place, the kind you don’t usually find out here in the Midwest. One of the bigger selling points would have to be the staff. Pleasant, knowledgeable, funny, and not too full of themselves, they are always willing to answer any questions. Regent Market rocks a local, indy vibe that none of the other groceries in Madison can match. It’s quiet and laid-back, you can get in and get out or stand around and joke with the guys.
