Millie's Jamaican CafeMillie’s Jamaican Cafe is a great little spot close to the University of Central Florida. It’s a Jamaican restaurant with lots of flavor. The owner Mille is so friendly and usually running around. They have a great menu with tons of tasty dishes like Curry Goat or Oxtail, all served with rice and peas. The food is great and the portions are nice. There also sell some great Caribbean beverages like Solo (soda) Irish moss, Malta, and more. The beef patties are excellent and are always available. The crowd ranges from college students to adults, but this is a great place to grab dinner and relax. There’s a giant plasma TV in the dinning room so you can catch a game while your eating or waiting for your take-out. They have lots of flyers available to all of the local Caribbean events, so if you’re West Indian you can find out what’s going on in the community. Millie’s is a great family friendly spot, the menu is good and the food is always hot. To find other great places in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

You’ll Love La Fuente Mexican Restaurant In Columbia, TN

http://www.flickr.com/photos/betsssssy/506216424/La Fuente Mexican Restaurant, at 1511 Nashville Highway, probably makes some of the best Mexican food in Tennessee, hands down. The only thing that will even remotely surpass them is a home-cooked Mexican meal by a real Mexican, and even then, the cut comes close. La Fuente’s most outstanding aspect (besides the food) is probably the extent they go to in order to provide the customer an authentic Mexican dining experience. Where most Mexican restaurants have traditional benches or chairs and a mundane table, La Fuente goes so far as to import authentic, high-quality Mexican furniture. Wooden, high-backed chairs, authentic paintings and sculptures, and even the way the walls are constructed and decorated make you feel like you’re truly at a nice restaurant in Mexico. Throw in some music “en espanol”, and the experience is pretty much complete. The food is hands down the best Mexican food in town. La Fuente has one of the largest selections of Mexican and hybrid dishes in the city of Columbia, TN, all made fresh when you order. Just their beans and rice are enough to make an excellent meal out of, but their large selection of tacos, chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas, and many other dishes are as good as they get. And they always serve enough. Most of the time, you’ll be ordering a to-go box because they feed you so much. Save some of your time with globalYP.net, an online directory.

Try Boiled Seafood At Boiling Point R&M In New Iberia, LA

Boiled seafood may sound boring to the uninitiated. How exciting can food cooked in hot water be after all? If you’ve ever been to a good old Louisiana crawfish or crab boil, though, you’ll understand the beauty of magnificently seasoned, pleasantly spicy boiled seafood. That’s what you get at the Boiling Point R&M – the best of Louisiana boiled crabs, shrimp and crawfish, just like a backyard boil, assuming your host knows what he’s doing! The décor is minimal – this is not a restaurant about the bells and whistles. On any given night, though, you’re likely to find cars lined up outside, waiting to feast. The food is great – and not just the boiled stuff, which you might expect. The Boiling Point actually has some of the best fried seafood around, as well. Their fried alligator is worth a trip in itself – they bring out the absolute best in this uniquely textured meat, and their fish fry is perfectly seasoned. They do all the Cajun specialties, like fried crawfish, frog legs, etc., expertly, and their sides are tasty and well-prepared as well. This is a place to seek out, even if it can be a little hard to track down. When you do, make sure you come hungry! Track down more places to try with globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

The Bayou In Madison, WI: A Tiny Taste Of Some Real Down Home Cajun Cooking!

The Bayou in downtown Madison, Wisconsin is a little slice of Louisiana located up in the frigid north! Flying their ingredients in from New Orleans every day, their food is absolutely divine with a pleasantly spicy burn that isn’t toned down at all and doesn’t make any apologies for setting your mouth and lips on fire. In fact, each table is well stocked with a wide variety of hot sauces in case the food isn’t fiery enough! The decor is really unique, clearly someone had a vision when setting it up and it is reminiscent of a cozy courtyard. The ceiling is trussed up as a starry night sky, and occasionally they’ll tone down the lights and “let the stars come out”. The po’boys are enormous, the remoulade sauce is exquisite, the Muffletas are genuine, and the sides of sweet potato fries and bacon baked beans are real crowd pleasers (and waist expanders!). The cajun crammed menu is fairly expansive and the Bayou is one of the few places in Madison with a well stocked raw oyster bar. Their bar selection is taken directly from the bars down south and all of their liquors are southern brands. The staff is very friendly, and if there is a wait to be seated you can hang out at the bar, grab a cocktail and enjoy the cajun inspired atmosphere. Overall, the Bayou in Madison is well worth the trip, and the live band performances really add extra value to the whole experience, go try it out! Golden Thai In Nashville, TN Has Great And Spicy Thai Food

Posted by Keri W. on December 02, 2009

Golden Thai in Nashville, TN is a wonderful place for good, authentic Thai cuisine in an elegant, relaxing setting. You’ll probably smell it before you even go inside – a delicate, exotic aroma of spices that draws you in. The restaurant itself is very pretty on the inside, despite its strip mall location: lots of clean, white tablecloths, understated lighting, and tasteful Thai accents to the décor. There is also outdoor seating available for mild nights. The wait staff is friendly, accommodating, and eminently professional, and service is generally prompt. The food itself is interesting, flavorful, creative, and well-spiced. You can request different levels of spice – go for native Thai if you’re a fan of hot! Soups, particularly the Tom Kha, are delicious, particularly paired with steamed dumplings or spring rolls at lunch. The curries are very good for entrees – try the red panang curry with a coconut flavor. Other great choices include ginger beef, pad thai (which they do exceptionally well), and basil shrimp. Ingredients are always fresh, and vegetables are crisp – you can tell they haven’t just been steeping in sauce all evening. Their prices are very reasonable as well, making it a nice place for a quick lunch or for a pleasant dinner out. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Thai food! Thai Palace, In Edmond, OK, Is the Place to Go to Find Authentic Thai Food!

Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

thai foodThai Palace offers a unique variety of Thai cuisine. The owner is also the waiter, the cashier, the bus boy, and most importantly, the chef. In all of the Oklahoma City Metro, there is no better place for Thai cuisine than at this restaurant. Once you arrive, don’t expect to run into a hostess. You‘ll see several tables that you can sit at, so you choose one, sit down, and within a few minutes, the owner will take your order. He’ll make your food exactly to your liking and if you don’t know what you want to eat for the day, he’ll pretty much tell you what you would like, and he’s always right! His food is reasonably priced at around $10 a plate. Once you order, he’ll bring out a large container of “mashed potatoes” (rice) that your table will share. During the lunch hour, you have the option of eating from the buffet, which is cheaper than ordering off the menu. If you do happen to want to order off the menu, don’t expect to get out of there in under an hour. Remember, this is a one man show, and all his food is prepared fresh. I usually order an appetizer and a main entrée and it usually takes 2-3 hours to finish everything. Don’t forget to ask him about his “hotness” scale. 1 is American, 2 is a little spicy, and if you order a 3, plan to be able to breathe fire after the meal is complete. Messob Ethiopian Restaurant, in Oakland, CA, authentic Ethiopian food with great service

ethiopian-food1If your in the mood for a little adventure on your plate try Messob Ehtiopian Restaurant located in Oakland, CA. Oakland is home to the third largest Ethiopian community in the country (after D.C. and LA respectively). With that distinction comes a wide range of options for sampling Ethiopian food. Some restaurants have taken an American or “fusion” twist on the food and some are more regional in nature. Most though, have the staples of Ethiopian food: Spicy and/or well-seasoned stews, served with a salad dressed in lemon and injera. Injera is a sourdough flat bread, that all of the food is both served upon and eaten with. There are no utensils and you have to ask for extra napkins repeatedly. Also, make sure you eat the injera that the stew is served on; it is so yummy! All food is served family style as well. For some people, particularly those who are accustomed to Western table manners may find Ethiopian food difficult to get used to, but there is no better place to get started than Messob. The food is authentic, the service is great and the environment is accessible. Try the Tej, or honey wine along with your meal and you will find the sweetness is a great balance to the spiciness. Some of the best dishes are Beg Alicha, Misr Wat and Fit Fit. Consider the Fish Tibs as well. To find more great places in your area, try searching GlobalYP.net, the local online directory.
