Part sports bar, part karaoke club, Daddio’s Grille in the trendy West End of Richmond, Virginia is the newest and brightest hot spot in the area. Situated in a small strip center and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, Daddio’s has already cultivated a loyal following of customers because of its solid menu of pub-style favorites and its sports and entertainment options. It’s the one place you can drop into on a casual basis and find on-site darts, pool, poker and more. Like golf? Join one of Daddio’s foursomes … newbies are always welcome. Although Daddio’s Grille may sound like it’s for young and hip customers, the owners of this restaurant have made it clear that they are a neighborhood business that welcomes patrons of all ages. So when you stop in on a weekday or weekend night, you’re likely to see all generations enjoying the food and ambiance. For example, on New Year’s Eve, Daddio’s welcomed Little Creek to its live stage, and party revelers from age 21 to age 90 were enjoying the food, drinks and music. Daddio’s is a welcome addition to the West End. Prices are reasonable and won’t drain your wallet. Try Daddio’s Grille next time you crave some good food and company. One of my favorite places to go out with friends is Michael’s Billiards & Sports Bar in Amherst, MA. It is a great place to enjoy the game and have a few drinks, and an even better place to play some pool. Some of the other billiards places in the area have a long wait for tables, but Michael’s always has tables open so my friends and I can get right into our game. You never have to spend much time waiting on anything else at Michael’s, either. There are always plenty of people working, and they are very quick about keeping you stocked with a pitcher of beer. The prices on both pool and beer are great. This is definitely one of the best deals in the area. I like feeling like I can afford to spend as much time playing without worrying about the cost. Another plus is the pizza joint right next door, as the staff at Michael’s is always happy to let customers bring in any pizza purchase and enjoy it at the bar! Everything is very clean, which I really appreciate. The pizza, beer and pool, combined with the great service and friendliness of the staff, really make going to Michael’s a great experience! Hooligans Sports Bar & Grill is set in the historic Montana Power building in downtown Billings, MT. They have adequate seating, even during the busiest of games. With the Montana Brew Pub just next door, they offer a variety of locally brewed beers, as well as all your favorite domestics and imports. The dining at Hooligans is by far the best you will find in any pub in the Billings area. They offer American cuisine and traditional Irish style food (if you have never had a scotch fried egg, you MUST try one), at reasonable prices. They have daily specials that are outstanding. So if you are looking for an Irish pub that is more than just a dingy place to drink watered down beer, look into Hooligans. Hooligans is not just beer and food, it is called a sports bar for good reason. They have numerous flat screen TVs around the bar, with a giant screen in the back for when the most popular games are on. They offer casino gaming in a separate room, and they have a pool table near the front for those that like to play while they watch. If you want to experience the best that Billings has to offer by way of Irish Pub/Sports Bars, check out Hooligans. And since all public places are now smoke free, you do not have to worry about inhaling toxic fumes while you have a great night out. You will not be disappointed! When I started getting into roller skating again, I learned there was a skating rink in my own home town of Madera, CA. I was really excited, so I headed on over there to check it out. Miracle Skate did not disappoint! The skating rink is a really nice size, and the people there are really nice. You can rent skates from them or bring your own, if you have a pair. They offer a cheap skate night (cheapskate, get it?) on Wednesday nights, with a special low price for skaters. They have public skating sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for weekend fun with the whole family! They offer both day time and evening hours. You can even host a birthday party there. All the kids, young and old alike, will have a blast skating around the rink to celebrate that special day. Roller skating hearkens back to the days of old, when the whole family went out to skating rink for an evening of family fun. Or how about roller disco? That was fun! Or even roller derby? Not for the faint of heart! So get on out there and create new memories of skating around the rink with your friends and family today! Oregano’s Pizza Bistro is the best pizza in the Phoenix area for more than a few reasons. For the dessert nuts, it’s the origination of the Pizza Cookie, a made-to-order cookie in a skillet topped with vanilla ice cream and coming from the oven so hot it’s hard to start digging in when it arrives. A full service bar with TV’s showing the latest sporting events makes it a popular hang out for college students, but it’s the pizza that really keeps people coming back for more. This pizza joint offers Old Chicago style deep dish (that takes upwards of 30 minutes to cook, so bring a book) and the classic thin and crispy crust. The choices in which kind of crust are just as expansive as what to get on the pizza. Each pizza comes cut into squares instead of the traditional slices, and each member of the wait staff will place the first piece on your plate for you. The pizza fits in perfectly with the old Italian atmosphere with signage, murals, and old tomato cans as light fixtures all adorning the walls in the half indoor/half outdoor eating environment. Here’s where the great weather nearly year round comes into play for Arizona businesses. Wait times can approach hours at times (yes, it is that good!); however, tables and drinks are provided to consumers to wait it out for some of the best pizza the Valley of the Sun has to offer. Visitors will be impressed and locals will have something to boast about. Visit globalYP.net, an online directory, to see what’s local to you.
Luby’s Bar and Grill has everything you need…great food, great drinks, and great entertainment! The staff is fun and friendly and the cover charge for events and/or scheduled entertainment is offered either at a very reasonable price or for free. Besides the active sports bar, Luby’s Bar and Grill offers excellent food at reasonable prices. You can get chips and dip with hot wings or something healthier like tilapia rice and veggies. There is a nice sit down eating area, away from all the activity, so you don’t have to worry about being in someone’s way while you eat. There are also tables where you can eat at in front of the stage, where you can see local acts play on a regular basis. If you’re not quite hungry yet or need something to do before a live show or event, Luby’s also offers a billiards room you where can play for just a dollar a game and work up an appetite while dancing to an old school style juke box for nostalgia to get in the mood. Luby’s Bar and Grill in Lawrenceville is actually one of my favorite places to play pool, eat and watch live shows with my friends because it never gets boring and the prices are so reasonable. Luby’s is such a fun place to hang out for anyone over 21 that I can’t actually think of a reason why you shouldn’t go. If you are looking for a true Irish experience in the Northern Virginia area then Ned Devine’s in Herndon is the place to go! It is in the Clock Tower Plaza off of Centreville Road and convenient to the Dulles Toll Road. If you can find the clock tower land mark then you can find a little piece of Ireland as well! The staff provides a very friendly atmosphere and a menu made for the fan of the traditional Irish foods as well as those who just want a steak or even an “Adult Mac N Cheese!” Their Irish Stew had very tender lamb combined with fresh potatoes and carrots. The flavor was what I miss from Dublin! The Bangers and Mash as well as the Shepherd’s Pie are delicious, as are the Fish and Chips. They also serve Australian fare in the form of meat pies. Ned’s is the place to go if you are looking for something other than a meal too! They provide live music on the weekends with a great variety of acts. The talent they display has ranged from above average to exceptional with most toward the exceptional side. During the NFL football season the games are televised on their large Plasma TV’s conveniently located around the bar. Whether you are looking for a substantial meal, a place to have a pint with the game or to display your Irish green you should consider Ned Devine’s in Herndon, VA! Salsa’s Mexican Restaurant in Charlotte, NC has the best salsa I’ve ever tasted – even better than in Mexico – but that is not the only thing it has going for it. Every dish I’ve tried has been wonderful. My favorites are the California burrito, the Pollo con queso and the chimichangas. The ingredients are always so fresh and perfectly cooked. With extremely generous portions at very reasonable prices, you definitely get your money’s worth! The food is so good that even after filling up on the amazing salsa first, you can’t stop until your plate is clean. The staff is friendly and attentive – your glass is never empty – and the atmosphere is perfect to bring the family for a fun, casual night out. You can do all that without missing your favorite sports game on one of the many TVs throughout the restaurant or bar area. The rest of Charlotte must love this restaurant as much as I do as they have now expanded to their third location, although my favorite is the one near Ballantyne and Pineville. Cleanliness is a big factor for me too, and I’ve never found the restaurant or bathrooms unclean on any of my many visits at multiple locations. So when you’re in the mood for Mexican, you can’t go wrong by heading to Salsa’s! When you need something from the phonebook, you can’t go wrong with globalYP.net, an easy to use online directory.
I have been dining at Patrick’s Pub in Moon Township, Pennsylvania ever since the luck of the Irish brought me to this unexpected gem at 1207 Spring Run Road a couple of years ago. The quality of the food and the service is consistently good. The prices are fairly reasonable, too. Patrick’s is chiefly known for its Irish fare. While I have never visited the Emerald Isle, some of those who have say Patrick’s food is authentic, and it compares favorably with the best of Ireland. Sample the shepherd’s pie, the bangers and mash, or the Guinness stew, and judge for yourself. Patrick’s Pub is not only dedicated to Ireland, though. Located in Allegheny County in Pennsylvania, home to the Pirates, Penguins, and the Steelers, Patrick’s is a Pittsburgh sports pub par excellence. Have a pint, and check out Patrick’s abundant collection of Pittsburgh sports memorabilia. Don’t forget to try a Pittsburgh staple, fried zucchini, at Patrick’s. Also highly recommended is another Pittsburgh favorite, the steak salad. What a treat! The pub’s menu has a whole host of sandwiches, soups, salads, and complete dinners to choose from. Portions are quite generous, too. Patrick’s fabulous food is matched by an equally fabulous staff. The servers are always attentive to your every wish. It’s always pleasant to experience restaurant workers who are competent and truly enjoy the job they have. Enjoy how easy it is to use globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.
With half-priced happy hour running from the time Fly Bar opens until closing, you can get a pizza and a pint for under $10 at Fly Bar. A varied menu includes not only a large variety of house Pizzas, but a Black-Forest Ham and Brie Sandwich, and a salad that is ‘fruits to nuts’, it’s guaranteed that all types of appetites will be satisfied here. Their bar doesn’t serve spirits- you’re limited to beer, wine and sake cocktails – the Pink Ginger is a must-have – the wit of the bartenders, and the friendliness of the locals more than make up for the lack of whiskey. Fly Bar has a pool table in back, and hosts art exhibits from local artists, which switch out on a quarterly basis. Try to catch an artist opening night, if you can- with drink and food specials, as well as opportunities to meet up and coming Bay Area artists, these events are a fun way to spend an evening mingling with the art crowd. While this is not a sports bar, per se, you can often find transplants from back east watching Cubs games, hockey matches, basketball or whatever hotly-contested football game happens to be on. And once the evening crowd gets rolling, expect to be blasted with fantastic selections of indie music, or 80’s pop, or electronica – depending on the bartender’s choice that night. It should be noted that this place gets PACKED on weekends – if you want to enjoy a night out with a few friends, show up early and stake your claim at the bar, or at one of the many window tables, or even at a cushy booth in the back room.
