Mrs. P’s Dance and Acrobatic Studio is located across from the Mets Stadium (Tradition Field) in St Lucie West. They offer many classes every night of the week and on weekends for all levels of dance and acrobatics. My daughter especially likes the Tuesday night Hip Hop class and the Acro class with Miss Dominique. She is awesome! My daughter is 14 yrs old. We found it difficult to find the right fit for her age group at other dance studios. Most others had lots of classes for young kids but not much for the older kids. She never took Hip Hop before so she would be considered a beginner. She is in a class with mixed ages but many are her age so she is very very comfortable. After 2 months, she is doing amazing. She tried out her moves at the Homecoming dance and everyone was jealous. She’s hoping the Acro class will give her a leg up at cheerleading tryouts next month. She has mastered a cartwheel, round off, tumbling, head stand, hand stand, back bend and more in just 2 months. She almost has a front handspring down pat. The class is small so she gets a lot of individual attention. She went to a regular gymnastics gym 2 years ago and in the 9 months there, she did not accomplish nearly as much. They also offer other typical dance classes like Ballet, Jazz and Tap. They do have a recital in the spring with beautiful costumes. I highly recommend Mrs. P’s Dance Studio for young and old alike. Kids N’ Dance has two locations, one in the Laurel District of Oakland, CA and one in Lafayette. The studio I am familiar with is in the Laurel district, which can sometimes feel rough, but in reality it is a lovely diverse area that should offer no safety concerns. The location (3841 Macarthur Blvd) has actually made it accessible to more families, so I appreciate the diversity in the classes. The classes range from Hip Hop to Musical Theatre and Tap and Ballet. They also do Summer Camps and any kid should be able to find something that interests them each season. The teachers at Kids N’ Dance are very talented and have learned many techniques to teach ballet and drama to little kids. We have done several ballet classes and several dance theatre productions, all of which my children have thoroughly loved. The final session for any class is a show for the parents and in the case of the musical theatre classes, the kids get to wear costumes and microphones and really show off in an intimate environment. It was a great development opportunity for my children who loved to prepare for 101 Dalmatians and their ballet recital. I appreciate that they have a large television, which displays the classes in the waiting room, so that parents can watch the classes without being a distraction. I have danced in many different dance companies over the years and have yet to find one that matches River City’s dedication to giving quality instruction to their students. They put on a number of wonderful dance performances a year and hold an end of semester show, which gives every student a chance to show off the new talents that they have mastered while in class.
