Madhatters Tea House and Café is a quaint little restaurant long beloved by San Antonio residents. It’s nestled in the middle of Southtown, the arts district of San Antonio, near the famous Rosario’s Mexican restaurant. Madhatters specializes in light drinks, whether it’s teatime or any time of the day. And they have a truly staggering assortment of teas to choose from – nearly 30 different varieties are on-hand to go along with your meal. Whether you love an exotic rooibos red tea or just a classic Earl Grey, Madhatters has got a cup meant for you. Madhatters doesn’t just have drinks, though – they also have a great selection of homemade soups and sandwiches. They also have an assortment of temptingly decadent desserts, which you can buy by the slice or as a complete pie or cake if you’ve had a bad day. Madhatters also features a Mimosa brunch on Sundays, where they sell $13 all you can drink “fishbowl” mimosas (designated driver not included.) Madhatters has a gallery space that features a rotating lineup of San Antonio artists, and on the first Friday of the month, they host live acoustic shows in the café. Madhatters Tea House and Café is open 8am-9pm Monday through Saturday, and 9am to 3pm on Sunday. Visit globalYP.net to find local business listings online.

Busy Café in Riverside, CA is a fairly new restaurant but is starting to gain popularity among local residents. This restaurant is located in the University Village shopping center at 223 University Ave and has a large menu of entrees, including unique items and typical Asian entrees. Their prices are reasonable and are slightly on the higher scale compared to local restaurants in the same shopping center, but the food is all freshly prepared when you order it and there is a large quantity, which I think makes up for the slightly higher price range. There is also a daily special in which you can choose a smaller sized entrée, soup and steamed rice, for those who do not want to spend too much. The soups here are probably my favorite and a steal for only $1.95 a bowl! Although the restaurant offers both in dining and to-go, I highly recommend eating in the restaurant simply because it allows you to eat the food right as it comes off the stove. The service here is also very good and they usually offer you free refills on all drinks, including hot teas (which surprised me because I have usually been charged for these refills at other places). The only negative I feel is that Busy Café does close slightly early at 10 pm, for being so close to a large university. Other than this I feel Busy Café will be a great hit once its name gets out! Caffe Stella in Lawrenceville, GA is a fantastic place to go to for a good cup of coffee or tea and some delicious desserts. Everything is made fresh and the atmosphere is quite cozy. One of my favorite desserts is the banana pudding. It is both creamy and silky. One cup is enough for two people, but I recommend that you try more than one dessert if you are there with a friend or on a date. The Italian coffee is always a good choice, but I recently tried the white chocolate mocha and found that to be exceptional. I also like their teas, especially the chai latte. It truly is one of my favorites. Caffe Stella is a perfect place to bring a date. The atmosphere is delightful. The lighting is not too bright and it has a romantic ambiance, with stars lit up on the ceiling to add a nice touch. They even have free WI-FI if you want to bring your laptop to do some work one of the comfortable leather chairs. They also offer Italian wines. I plan to return very soon! I recently tried The Village Grind Coffee & Tea shop and to my surprise, it was great. It’s cozy, yet welcoming and enjoyable. I ordered the Iced Cappuccino, which is actually one of my new favorites. The service was wonderful. The drink was done immediately, made fresh, and tasted great! As far as prices were concerned they are very reasonable. Some items did seem overpriced but for a cup of Joe and perhaps some sort of treat, you couldn’t go wrong. The shop is filled with a few places to sit, some newspapers, and all sorts of knick knacks. I’m sure some individuals just go there for home decorations. There are several rooms to the place, each rather small. I could imagine this place is rather cramped during rushes but overall was fine at any other time. I could see in the summer they sell all sorts of ice cream which just gives me an excuse to go when it is warm out. The shop is located downtown Oswego right down Main St. This location is great, it allows you to take your coffee and go to the library, sit near the park, or enjoy the river. Overall, I highly recommend this place; I might just head over there to read a book sometime soon, you should too! I don’t know how many things stay the same in this world; if they do, then they usually don’t belong and die out. But consider the Head Nut the exception. I’ve been going here since I was a kid and now take my children here as well. This mom and pop shop has essentially stayed the same through my last 35 years, still scooping out fresh, great tasting nuts from large containers lined across the walls, jars full of chocolates, bins housing assortments of candies and fresh coffee beans and teas to choose from that touched all the continents. They did expand in one direction, by adding a coffee and juice bar; however, this only means you don’t have to wait to get in the car or your home to begin enjoying your cache of treats and delicacies. All else is the same, and as it should be since they really prove the adage if it’s not broke then don’t fix it. Bags of dried fruits adorn the same spot, easily taken to the register while you walk through the room for your next acquisition. Lately, we have trying more ethnic foods at home so now I go to the other corner of the main room to pick out the blend of spices I want to add to our new cuisine. After each selection is chosen, weighed, and bagged by the always pleasant and helpful members behind the register, you’ll be on your way to partaking in some of the most savory foods likely to found under one roof. The Head Nut is a regular favorite stop of mine that I always manage to add it into my driving route no matter how far away it may seem. GlobalYP.net, an online directory, is only one click away.

Penelope’s Teas and Gifts will take you to a lovely place where you can just sit, relax and enjoy a tasty cup of tea. The décor of Penelope’s is very cozy. There are armchairs with doilies on them, a nice fireplace, and every teapot has a cozy! It really sets the mood for a nice cup of tea. I went in on a rainy day so it was exceptionally cozy that day. Also, once a month two girls come in and play the violin for your enjoyment. It really is quite lovely to sit and chat and listen to the music. Their teas taste delicious; you get your own pot of tea, which you can select from a special tea menu. Their food is delicious! Little cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches are the perfect compliment to the teeny desserts they serve. They also sell a lot of tea accessories like their handmade tea cozies, handmade cards made by local businesses, their wonderful tea, and specialty teacups and pots. I love going there with good friends and just sitting and chatting over a nice cup of tea. So go make some merriment of your own! Sit back relax and enjoy Penelope’s Teas! When walking into Boba Café, located in the popular University Village shopping center near the University of California, Riverside, it is clear to see this is a hip and happening place for young college students to get some boba drinks and socialize with their peers. Boba Café is open until 1 AM on most nights, and amazingly the cozy shop is usually busy and full of people until their closing. The main staples of their menu are their milk teas and various drinks in which boba and jellies may be added. The options for drinks are almost endless with almost every fruit displayed in the menu, including passion fruit, coconut, banana, and over 40 more options. The way the menu works is typical with most boba cafes in that there are flavors and the customer can either choose to have a slush (closely resembles an Icee), a snow (a smoother consistency) or a yogurt (which the servers refer to as being similar to a smoothie or milkshake). For me, the strawberry snow with extra boba is a definite favorite. Although drinks are very popular, Boba Café also serves delicious and affordable food that’s perfect for the college crowd. The food menu is also very large and sticks with many typical Asian entrees that are prepared fresh to order. Overall, this is a great local find and is sure to be a favorite for anyone who visits.
