Pam’s Corner Cooks With Local Ingredients In Toledo, OH

Pam’s Corner in downtown Toledo is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast and lunch. They serve a wide variety of Soups, Salads, and Sandwiches, and they have lots of daily specials. The food is always great. I have never been disappointed by any of the cooking there. One of the things I love most about this place is that the owner, Pam, is very involved in the local community. She is a member of Toledo Choose Local. You can find her almost every Saturday morning shopping for fresh produce at the Toledo Farmers’ Market. Her dishes are made with fresh local ingredients, they always taste great. Since they use fresh local ingredients, the dishes change with the seasons, so they always have a variety of food to choose from. Parking at the restaurant is free, and in the summer months, they put a couple of tables outside so you can enjoy the day as you eat your lunch. When you go into the restaurant, you are greeted by beautiful and colorful décor. It has a very cheerful atmosphere. You can see Pam and her help working in the kitchen, which is just on the other side of the counter. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, but they do rent out the restaurant for special occasions. They also cater. This place is great, so if you ever get the chance, give it a try. I know you will love it. Now’s your chance to give globalYP.net, an online directory, a try too.

For The Best Italian In Toledo, OH, Visit Mancy’s Italian Grill!

Mancy's Italian GrillMancy’s Italian Grill is a part of the Mancy Family restaurants. They own Mancy’s Steakhouse, the Italian Grill, The Blue Water Grill and Shorty’s BBQ. I have been a regular visitor to all the Mancy’s restaurants over the years and they are all great. Mancy’s Italian Grill has some of the best Italian food in town. The restaurant has an open kitchen so you can see a lot of the different foods being prepared. They have a decent sized menu and pretty good prices with dishes starting at around $14 and going up to the high $20’s. They also have a large wine selection. I love their food, like I said, some of the best in town. They have a portabella mushroom appetizer that I have to get every time I go. Their entrees can be just as addicting. I enjoy the atmosphere at Mancy’s Italian. It is kind of dim with Italian décor, the wood burning pizza oven, different rooms for dining, and beautifully crafted lighting. The place looks warm and inviting. One of my favorite parts is the fact that even though they are always crowded, it is never too loud or noisy. Even though they are always busy, I usually never wait long for a table because they do take reservations (which is a really good idea on the weekends). If you live or visit Toledo, OH, you must stop by and try Mancy’s Italian Grill! To find more great restaurants in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

The Grow Shop Is Toledo, OH’s Hyrdoponic Stop

My family has been going through many hard times including joblessness and sickness. In an attempt to counter money issues I suggested starting a garden utilizing both the half acre of land which we rent, and the space in the garage. I don’t, however, know anything about gardening, so after passing the Grow Shop a couple times I decided to stop in and see what the place was all about. I want to say that while a small shop might turn off some folks, I thought this was a plus. The environment seemed very personalized and quickly put me at ease. There are hydroponic plant centers set up at the center of the place, which was very helpful when the guy assisting me began to explain the system. He answered all my questions in a way that both suggested his knowledge in the subject and his people skills, considering that I am completely green (and not as in a green thumb) when it comes to any kind of agriculture. He told me what to do, at what time of year, and even though the shop specializes in hydroponics he informed me that it might be easier for me to start out with something more traditional. I left the Grow Shop with a stack of free magazines about indoor gardening, and I definitely plan to return when I am ready to set up my own hydroponic system. sakura japanese steakhouseSakura Japanese Steakhouse in Toledo, OH is an elegant, yet laid-back restaurant, with a nice selection of traditional Japanese dishes. These include, Teriyaki Chicken, Fried Rice, Sukiyaki, and a big selection of Japanese-style house rolls and sushi appetizers. The focal points of the restaurant, however, are the many hibachi-type grills that surround guest seating, where food is cooked right before their eyes. There are many selections from which to choose. Customers can select a grilled dinner that starts off with a bowl of soup and salad, as the chef begins to prepare the food with a flourish. When I went, chopping up a piece of squash with fancy spatula work led to a round of flipping a piece into the mouths of the diners at the table. A mountain of rice is then prepared and served, along with stir-fried vegetables. Meats include filet mignon, sirloin, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and lobster. Each is both mouthwatering and tender. Customer orders are cooked and served in a timely manner, which makes for a delicious and satisfying dinner. This family friendly restaurant also has a full bar and sushi bar. This dining experience is very entertaining! To visit other unique places like this, go to globalYP.net, an online directory.

El Camino LocoEl Camino Loco in Toledo, Ohio, is a Mexican restaurant in a great big, rustic building featuring multiple levels for dining, a full bar, a huge vaulted ceiling sporting painted ductwork, and a somewhat eclectic décor. Getting a booth on a lower level in the back would ensure a romantic, inviting atmosphere for a Valentine’s Day dinner for two. You can start out with a fresh bowl of tortilla chips and salsa while you try to decide from the wide selection on the menu. El Camino Loco offers traditional Mexican favorites in a wide assortment of combinations. You can choose from various options which include tamales, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, tostadas, chalupas, and more. It’s difficult to select from the long list of groupings, but it’s convenient if you’re in the mood for a variety of foods all in one meal. The enchiladas are very good, the refried beans and the Spanish rice are full of flavor, and the tamales have a real authentic taste. There are also a variety of kinds of quesadillas which can be an appetizer or a meal. El Camino Loco also has dinners for two, including a nice selection of fajitas which you can order together and share. This would be ideal for a romantic dinner and what’s better than sharing? They serve margaritas, draft and bottled beer and other alcoholic beverages, but this is a family friendly restaurant as well. The food is very reasonably priced and very good. You Won’t Be Sorry With Sori Sushi In Toledo, OH

Sori SushiThis year, my husband and I discovered sushi. At first bite, we both fell in love with it. We have been spending the last year working our way around the Toledo, Ohio area trying out all the sushi restaurants. By far, Sori Sushi is the best we can find. It is a cute little restaurant located on Monroe Street in Toledo, Ohio. Owned by a husband and wife (the husband is the sushi chef and the wife is the waitress) you are immediately greeted when you walk in the front door. The walls are covered in beautiful artwork all created by Sori, the owner and waitress. You can either sit at a table or at the sushi bar to watch the chef prepare your food. They bring out a complimentary appetizer to every one that comes in the door. Every roll of sushi I have tried here, I have loved. The staple sushi roll, the Spicy Tuna Roll, is better than anywhere else I have ever tries. The tuna taste so fresh, and is rolled with the rice and nori perfectly. They have a large selection of rolls, and many specialty ones. Their signature roll, the Sori Roll, has just about everything you can think of in it. The prices at Sori are very reasonable, which makes it easier for my husband and I to visit often, and believe me, we do! Daniel’s Automotive Repair Really Treats You Right In Toledo, OH

Posted by Keri W. on December 30, 2009
Personal Transportation / No Comments

Daniel’s Automotive Repair is a family owned and operated car repair shop. They do everything from oil changes to transmissions. They will get you in fast and treat you right. They have reasonable prices and you never have to go back for the same car issue. I have 3 older cars and they have been able to fix them all when needed. They also offer one year oil changes. They put a whole new custom exhaust on one of my sports cars and it sounded great. This is a small business with only two mechanics so the only downside is that during the busy seasons you have to wait. It is well worth the wait to get your car fixed right. The head mechanic is a master certified ASE mechanic and can fix just about anything. He put a transmission and an engine in my old jeep and it has run great for two years now. The environment in the shop is great there is a waiting room with plenty of magazines and coffee. The service is excellent and they are always willing to answer questions and help you understand what is wrong with your car before they work on it. The only thing they don’t do is fix the body of the car if you are in an accident. I will always take my cars there because the service is awesome and the repairs are always done right. China Crown Buffet Is Tasty In Toledo, OH

Posted by Keri W. on December 26, 2009
Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

I recently visited the China Crown Buffet in Toledo, Ohio for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I love sushi, but most sushi bars are closed on Sundays and we wanted some bad. I found out that China Crown Buffet has not only a large selection of Chinese dishes, but they have a sushi bar on buffet also. Dinner only cost us $9.99 per person, which is great. They had about 30 different Chinese dishes to choose from and about 15 different kinds of sushi. Since it was a Sunday dinner, they even had crab legs on the buffet. The food was good, and a better quality than I expect from a buffet. They had a very interesting selection of food on the buffet. There were the normal things like sweet and sour chicken and Mongolian beef, but then they had other things I had not seen on a buffet before like steamed dumplings and squid salad. They had the best spring rolls I have ever had. There were a few different kinds of soups and a large dessert selection (including ice cream). The sushi was of decent quality as well, the best I have ever had from a buffet. It surpassed my expectations and I know that I will definitely be going back for more! Tee Oriental Food & Gifts Is A Gift To Vegetarians In Toledo, OH

Posted by Keri W. on December 20, 2009
Eating & Drinking Places, Retail Stores / No Comments

I was born and raised in a meat and potatoes town, but went away to attend school within a cultural mecca: NYC. When I came back home, not only was I used to variety, but I was mostly vegan, a word my folks aren’t familiar with. I spent a great deal of time ordering food off the internet, but the shipping and healthy food prices were killing my wallet. My local health food stores, all three, were no different, and I was starting to bug out over being guided to the Western friendly products in the few well known Asian grocers scattered about the city. Luckily I stumbled on Tee Oriental Food & Gifts. This large grocery store includes products from Thailand, Japan, China, Korea, and the Caribbean to name a few. It carries essential vegan friendly products like agar agar, gluten, various tofu, and an abundance of fresh veggies at prices significantly cheeper (I’m talking several dollars in some cases) than at health food stores, and chain grocers. The staff are friendly, and helpful. I have on more than one occasion engaged them in conversation outside “where is such and such,” and when that subject did pop up I was either directed to an aisle or guided to the desired item. Upon finding that an essential ingredient was not available during one of my staff guided searches, I returned the following week to discover the product in the freezer. While this somewhat made me feel guilty, having something ordered just for me, this is what customer service is supposed to be like. If you live in Toledo, are vegan, vegetarian, or just tired of meatloaf, check out Tee Oriental Food & Gifts.
