A great place to take a date on Valentine’s Day is the Signature Room. It is a restaurant located in Chicago, IL on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building. It is an extremely elegant atmosphere and very classy. Almost the entire restaurant overlooks the surrounding downtown sky-scrapers and Lake Michigan. There is also live musical entertainment, usually a pianist or a jazz band – nothing too loud, just enough to keep the romance in the air. The food is also delicious although a bit pricey. However when you take your date out for Valentine’s Day you shouldn’t worry about spending too much on your date. You won’t find hamburgers and fries that’s for sure, as the Signature Room has many elegant and high-class meals such as an extremely fine cut of filet and many seafood dishes that I wouldn’t even know how to pronounce! The service is wonderful as well. Any time you go to sit down or stand up, someone comes by to pull your chair in or out, even if you are just taking a trip to the bathroom. Also, every time the server comes by, they clean off the table for you in a very professional manner, even going as far to wipe away bread crumbs using a knife. Unfortunately I don’t have a date this year so I won’t be going, but it would definitely be my first choice! Valentine’s Day
Last year I took my wife to La Petite Auberge for Valentine’s Day. I had known about the restaurant for quite some time, but my wife and I had never gone. We had an amazing time, and the staff didn’t an excellent job making the day feel special. They even brought my wife a rose. The food was also amazing. Their menu is very authentic, and you almost feel as though you are actually in France. This also means it could take you a few minutes to work your way through the menu. The presentation was amazing and the food was equally impressive. The restaurant also has an extensive wine list, and the staff is more than willing to give recommendations. Most of the entrees are between $20 – 25 dollars, but it is worth the experience. The restaurant is located just off the main street in downtown, and it can be a little tricky to find. Keep your eye open for a bright blue awning, and yellow store front. While the exterior of the restaurant does not exude class, the interior sets the mood for an elegant and romantic experience. While my wife and I have made different plans this year, I am sure we will be back for another dinner at La Petite Auberge. Willie G’s Seafood & Steak House in downtown Denver is a spectacular place to go for an intimate dinner with someone special. Whenever my husband and I are looking for a romantic place to get away, we always choose Willie G’s. Not only is the service and the food exceptional, it creates such an intimate dining experience for everybody there. Reservations are usually a good idea to get seats at a decent time at Willie G’s Restaurant. It is fairly upscale with an air of elegance as you walk through the door. Just a short 15 minute drive from the Twin Cities is one of the best seafood restaurants you’ll find in the area at an affordable price. I recently took my girlfriend to McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant and we absolutely loved it. It’s an upscale, classy restaurant with ambient lighting and intimate booth seating. Your girlfriend will really appreciate the sense of privacy afforded by the seating; the booths run along a wall and are separated from each other by panels, with the open side partially obscured with curtains. My girlfriend and I shared the Alaskan King Crab Legs and the Atlantic Salmon from Norway. I had expected a place like this to have meager servings, but I was pleasantly surprised by the full plates that came to our table with delicious mashed potatoes on the side to boot. The seafood was simply decadent and the meal was just over fifty dollars which left my wallet happy as well. If you’re short on money, they also have a happy hour where they feature a smaller menu with items ranging from $2-5 dollars; it would make a great place to stop by for a bite to eat if you’re shopping at the Galleria Mall just across the street. For the Valentine’s Day last year I went out with my girlfriend to a restaurant One If By Land Two If By Sea in New York City. The place was very romantic with dimmed light. It was just an excellent choice to celebrate a special occasion. I was so glad that I chose this restaurant – I knew my girlfriend was going to love it. The moment we stepped in, we could hear a live piano player hitting some classical music. The décor was beautiful and completely mesmerizing. The menu has plenty of options to order. We order a couple different things from the menu – Beef Wellington, Butternut Squash Risotto. For the dessert we opted for the Chocolate Fondant Cake. The food was super delicious, everything was very fresh. I must say, the staff was very friendly and super attentive. The waiters kept refilling the tea and water. We were overwhelmed by the whole ambience, the place has to offer. The restaurant made my night and I still cherish the memories. It is definitely one of the best romantic restaurants in NYC and is highly recommended by me to all lovers if they care for the special ones in their lives. I remember a couple of Valentine’s Days ago, my date had a broken foot and could not go anywhere. This meant that we could not go out to eat and have a romantic dinner like we should have. Cafemantic will be a great place for breakfast this Valentine’s Day. It opens at 9 AM and offers a variety of delicious breakfasts made with fresh ingredients. I love the baked oatmeal; it’s so satisfying and healthy too! “The Nuteller” is delicious too. It’s warm nutella with sliced bananas on whole wheat bread. My Valentine and I live just across the street. It opened up about 6 months ago and we have been going there ever since. The atmosphere is clean, open and comfortable. You certainly get a lot for your buck, too! Sometimes the service is a bit slow, and there is usually a line out the door but this is the best coffee in town. I love my latte with soy and the hubbie gets his cappuccino with a dash of cocoa or one of the many specialty drinks like white chocolate hot cocoa. I also enjoy the teas there; they are fair trade and come in a wide variety. Many of the herbal teas have healthy benefits and the servers there can answer any question you may have. Valentine’s Day in Willimantic is a celebration worth witnessing; especially on Main St., where Cafemantic is located. I plan to stick around and people watch. People come from all over the state to join the Main Street festivities which include free chocolates, hot cocoa and specials in all the shops! Cafemantic is conveniently located and has a great view to put some love in the air! The Char in Beckley, West Virginia is one of the finest restaurants in the area and is a great place to take a date for Valentine’s Day. The food is amazing and they have everything including Shrimp, Escargot, Steak, Lobster, Spaghetti, and much more. The atmosphere is very romantic. The last time I ate there it wasn’t overly crowded and noisy like most places, and the lighting was low with beautiful candles lit around the room. The dress code is business/casual so if casual is more your thing that is okay but you could also dress up a bit to make the night even more special. The restaurant is located right outside of the main part of town in a beautiful secluded area. They offer valet parking and no reservation is needed. They are only open between 5 PM to 9 PM. The Char is family owned and has been in business since 1965. The staff is wonderful and they do everything they can to make your visit as warm and friendly as possible. In fact, the staff have been known to help men plan marriage proposals there. If you’re looking for a classy, romantic restaurant to visit this Valentine’s day I definitely recommend the Char.
