Value Village is a thrift store in the southwestern part of Houston, TX. I had passed by several times before, always noticing a crowd of cars in the parking lot and I decided to stop in one day. The store is divided into sections. Their strong suit is clothing, and lots of it. The benefit of this thrift store is its organization. The clothing is categorized by type, color, and then size. This makes it easy to see what you want when shopping. I was able to throw together a Halloween costume for five bucks last year. The clothing is not full of holes or dingy. This is a definite plus for me. The store also has plenty of house wares. Picture frames in various finishes, styles and sizes, all at a great price. I snagged a 24×36 frame for only $6. If I went to a typical frame shop, it could have cost up to $50. I can pick up great framed artwork all for under $15. If I don’t care for the picture, the price is still worth it for the frame itself. I also love their stash of books. My kids have found virtually brand new books from popular authors like Dr. Seuss for only .50 cents to $1. If you have never visited this store, you should. You may have to hunt, but therein lies the adventure of thrift shopping. With this store, there is usually something that will pique your interest.
