Located in the heart of the Sonoma-Carneros region, only 45 minutes away from San Francisco, Jacuzzi Family Winery is a little bit of Italy in the Sonoma Valley. Lined by beautiful pieces of Italian art and chandeliers, resembling a Tuscan estate, it overlooks the San Pablo Bay wetlands. This property has gorgeous fountains, views of the vineyard and great spots for picnics, weddings, pictures, and much more. Jacuzzi Family Vineyards is located directly across the street from its sister winery, Cline. In this gorgeous winery modeled after the Jacuzzi family home in Udine, Italy, you can sample their wide range of varietals including Barbera, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Primitivo and Sangiovese for free. If you are a fan of Italian wines this is definitely the place for you. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable, and incredibly prompt. You can pick 5 wines from 18 to taste for free! In addition to their fine wine, Jacuzzi is also home to The Olive Press, California’s most highly awarded producer of extra virgin olive oil. The Press is situated inside the winery where guests can watch olive oil being made and of course have a complimentary tasting. Overall, Jacuzzi Family Vineyards is a great place to experience wine! Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania, Virginia is located about halfway between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, the capital of Virginia. For the last 15 years, they have been producing award-winning varietal blends that appeal to a diverse population of wine aficionados. Using homegrown grapes from their own vineyard, this family-owned business bottles and distributes both red, white and specialty wines, including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Essensual. Housed in what was formerly a dairy barn, Lake Anna Winery has grown slowly but deliberately since they cautiously began their operations, and are now considered one of the up-and-coming wineries in the Commonwealth. Although you can buy their wines in most large wine and liquor stores, it is much more fun to take a trip Spotsylvania and do a tour, a tasting or get involved in one of the special events that are held on site. From special lunches and brunches to Renaissance Fairs, Jazz weekends and Caribbean beach parties, there is always something exciting going on at the winery or in the immediate Lake Anna area. On-site festivals and events include the ability to sample some of Lake Anna Winery’s newest blends. Some events are free; some request a modest admission fee. Winery owners Jeff and Eric Heidig and their accomplished staff will be wonderful hosts during your visit. This little winery that is nestled in the middle of Civil War country is one of Virginia’s best kept secrets! It’s no secret that globalYP.net, online yellow pages, will save you time.
The Joseph Filippi Winery in Rancho Cucamonga is an excellent source for southern California wines and has been a local, family-owned tradition for more than 80 years. Wine is made and aged on site, and you can take a guided tour of the winery Wednesday through Sunday at 1:00 in the afternoon. If you have a large group, you can schedule a tour for a more convenient time. The tours are typically given by a member of the staff, often a Filippi family member. In addition to the winemaking facilities and vineyards, the Filippi winery has a wine shop and tasting room. The shop and tasting room features a large polished wood bar, crates and bottles of wine, and a variety of wine-related accoutrements and gifts like corkscrews, tableware, and recipe books. For a mere $5.00, you can taste five different wines. You can also enjoy a glass of wine on the patio or in the lounge area. The port wines are especially well-crafted and delicious! If you like the Filippi wines, I strongly recommend joining the Filippi Wine Club. Wine Club members get a special set of wines four times a year as well as discounts on bottles and cases throughout the year. There’s no need to travel to Napa Valley or Sonoma when the excellent Joseph Filippi Winery is centrally located in the Inland Empire. There’s no need to bother with the phonebook when you can get local directory listings online with globalYP.net.
I really needed a day off. I just needed a break from the daily routine of being a homemaker. So I called up my friend of eleven years and asked her if she wanted to get together and hang out. She was all for it and we made a date for the next day. At first we did not know what to do. We started out doing our usual(going to get our hair done). At the hair salon the stylist told us about a vineyard called Mac’s Creek Vineyard. She told us that it was a great place to have a glass of wine at and that it was located about a half a mile north of Lexington, Nebraska, right on Highway 21. That was perfect since we did not want to go too far. Upon arriving at the Winery we were really surprised at how pretty it looked. There was a beautiful terrace where we could sit at charming tables and overlook the romantic looking vineyard. The inside of the building also had a very inviting ambiance. We were immediately greeted by a friendly lady who seated us on the lovely terrace we had spotted earlier. She told us to let her know when we were ready to order. We looked at the menu and saw that Mac’s Creek Vineyard offered quite a selection of wines. There were wines called Buzzard’s Roost Blush, Edelweiss, Buffalo Wallow, Fruit of the Vine, After Dark, Grandpa’s Chokecherry Wine and many more to choose from. Since we did not know anything about wines we went ahead and told the friendly lady from earlier to just bring us a glass of wine that she thought we might like. She served us a white wine called “Settlers White” which was supposed to be a semi sweet white wine made from the LaCrosse Grape. We each ended up having a couple of glasses of the wine which tasted great. We also ate some freshly prepared bread and cheese which complimented the wine. All in all we really enjoyed the time we spent at this family owned winery. We have visited Mac’s Creek on two more occasions and have brought other friends along so that they can also experience the great wines at the winery.
