The San Marco Bookstore Is Your Best Bet In Jacksonville, FL

The San Marco Bookstore in Jacksonville, Florida is quite a gem. In a city filled with chain stores this bookstore is a breath of fresh air. In stock are not only new books but also used, vintage, and out of print books. I have been able to find delightful old novels for very good prices. About a month ago I bought a book from the 1960’s for only five dollars. This is a really nice place to find those books from yesteryear. Some even include old notes that people have written in them. Classics are available and in a variety of different editions and cover styles. There are many great children’s books and I think they can even customize a special one just for your child. Also, the store specializes in old Florida history, and in addition to this, the staff is very helpful. They are not the annoying, pesky type who constantly watch and question you, but they will help you when you are in need. The location is convenient for those who live at and near San Marco. Parking can be an issue when the square is crowded, especially during lunchtime on the weekends, but it is not horrible. This is definitely a great place to escape bookstore chains and go green by buying used books. Stop using the phonebook and start using globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/serendoxity/4266407845/The Scavenger Hunt is a unique little shop less than a minute away from Michigan State University’s East Lansing campus. This shop seems to be catered to the university’s students, though there is some business attire available. Whether you are looking for a crazy costume for a theme party or a vintage leather belt, this store has something for just about every shopper. Scouring the racks of The Scavenger Hunt is a fabulous way to spend a few hours and pick up some great additions to your wardrobe for only a few bucks (though some of their leather and vintage can get pricey, most of the rest of the stuff is reasonably priced). In addition to picking up some new accessories or clothes, you can also sell certain items to the store to make some cash or earn in store credit. I have only had helpful and friendly service, so make sure you go check it out, you’ll be glad you did. You Never Know What You’ll Find At Neighborhood League Shop In Wayne, PA

Posted by Keri W. on April 01, 2010
Retail Stores / No Comments

Neighborhood League Shop is a thrift store located in Wayne, PA. This store sells good-quality items for very good prices. You can find a tiffany lamp for just 25$ in excellent condition. They have collections of vintage dolls, toys, tablecloths, crystal glasses, silverware, jewelry, and many other interesting things. In the basement they have big items such as antique furniture, chairs, baby toys, tables, and pictures, as well as some contemporary books and children videos. They also sell seasonal decorations, for example Christmas decorations, or Halloween decorations that are all contemporary (not vintage) and after the season they put everything 50-75% off. This is a special place to find quality antiques. The store is small and sometimes is difficult to see and walk through because of so many things and people looking. Where they are located can get very crowded; I would say it’s always crowded, because they are in the main line, and in the spot where they are there are a lot of other restaurants and stores. That’s why parking is sometimes difficult, especially during peak hours, so make sure you plan your visit accordingly. Skycraft Surplus Has Something For Every Hobbyist In Winter Park, FL

Posted by Keri W. on February 20, 2010
Retail Stores / No Comments

Skycraft Surplus is a one of a kind store that’s packed from floor to ceiling with electronics surplus, mechanical parts, tools, and unidentifiable doodads. Anyone who loves to build or tinker in the garage could browse for hours here without being bored. Some items are brand new, and others have been lurking on the shelf for decades, waiting to be discovered. The staff is very knowledgeable, and can help in identifying that mystery part you’ve been searching for. Some of the “just for show” items are worth the trip to see, too. The front of the store is adorned with a lighted flying saucer and a giant missile. Inside are a collection of handmade radio controlled boats made by the owner, all with a certain vintage flair. Odd items like submarine tow antennae and hazmat suits hang from the ceiling. Skycraft is my favorite store, and I’ve come here looking for things like capacitors and resistors, stainless steel metric screws sold individually, linear bearings, unusual light bulbs, scrap metal pieces, copper clad board, and LEDs. I can’t seem to make a quick trip to this place. Any time I come here, I’m compelled to walk down every aisle at least once, just to make sure I’m not missing anything incredible. You are absolutely missing out if you don’t see this place! Don’t miss out on other places and be sure to check out globalYP.net, an easy to use online directory.

Anne Tiques – Amazing Vintage And Antique Shop In Tuscaloosa, AL

Posted by tluke on January 30, 2010
Products, Retail Stores / No Comments

Anne TiquesAnne Tiques is one of my favorite places to go shopping in Tuscaloosa, AL. Miss Anne keeps an interesting inventory of antiques, furniture, vintage goods, consignment items, and Alabama memorabilia (Roll Tide!). If you need a quick accessory for an outfit, she has a large selection of vintage and costume jewelry to peruse. Also, Miss Anne has a large selection of resale children’s clothing and toys for very low prices. Her prices are very reasonable, and her inventory is always changing. Miss Anne likes to talk to all her customers, and often I’ll tell her what I’m looking for (even vague things, like “something kind of organic that I can put on a wooden shelf by my plants…”) and she’ll know exactly what I’m looking for. In any given visit, I might browse through Depression glass compotes, current fiction and romance books, or vintage Pyrex bake dishes. I have bought several pieces of framed artwork for decorating my apartment, furniture, Alabama dishes, necklaces, and antique cast iron dishes for my dad. Not to mention some great vintage gifts for my very picky friends. Anne Tiques is a great place to shop, too, if you are new to Tuscaloosa and need some accents for a new dorm room or apartment. The affordable prices make it a must-stop for someone shopping on a budget or looking for a fun little item without the splurge costs. Paris Market & Brocante Brings All The Amazing Antiques And Vintage Finds To Savannah, GA

Posted by Keri W. on January 22, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Retail Stores / No Comments

Do not let the name of this gemstone of Savannah shopping fool you: all the items at Paris Market & Brocante do not come directly from Paris. Rather, the store contains home and garden goods, vintage clothing and accessories, kitchen wares, stationary, and much else from Florence, Holland, London… you get the idea. The owners have marketed on the fashion of global chic, while maintaining an overall aesthetic that agrees with the store’s name and locale. On entering the store, you eye will immediately be drawn to the vintage chandeliers that twinkle all around the room. Jewelry from the ‘40s and ‘50s are scattered across small wooden tables, and the smell of lavender is unmistakable. Whether or not you have a garden full of peonies and wild ivy, you’ll be captivated by the downstairs garden department, full of glazed pots and wrought-iron benches. The Paris Market’s items are often one-of-a-kind and hand-selected so things like vintage armoires and velvet dresses come and go frequently. It’s as though all the best of the world’s flea markets has been assembled here for you! If the shop itself weren’t enough to entice visitors and locals alike, the Paris Market also includes a small, European-style café. Serving stellar coffee drinks and sweets (like Eiffel Tower-shaped iced cookies), it’s one of the best cafés in the area. See what else your area has to offer with globalYP.net, an online directory.
