Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Fado Irish PubI will be attending my St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Fado’s Irish Pub in Seattle. This pub is centrally located in the middle of downtown close to Pike Place market and other places of interest. I love this pub because they are very modern but at the same time can give you a feeling of being in the old country. They claim that they have the best Pint of Guinness Stout in town and I believe them. There is nothing like meeting at the pub with friends after work and kicking back then enjoying a fine beverage and some amazing food. Fado’s throws one of the best St.Patrick’s Day celebrations in town. Be sure to be there when the green beer starts flowing and the singing and dancing commences. The service at this pub is very good and the prices are very affordable. I chose this pub due to the fact that it reminds me of an old place with a modern feel. The pub is full of nooks and crannies so that you and your friends can have a private time drinking and catching up. Fado’s is definitely one of Seattle’s best Irish pubs and truly lives up to its reputation of being the place to go to. If You Live In Seattle And You’ve Never Been To Ireland, You’ll Find It At The Owl n’ Thistle

Posted by tluke on March 15, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Owl N' ThistleI moved away from Seattle several years ago and I miss many things about the wonderful city. Owl n’ Thistle Irish Pub maybe one of the places I miss most. I’d never been to an Irish bar before 1996 when one of my friends asked me to meet him there one weekend night. I was immediately taken by the music. The Owl, as we called it, was home to Seattle’s leading Irish musicians.  The one common denominator with all the bands I saw there was the authenticity of the bands. These were genuine Irishmen, not Americans trying on lame Irish accents. Another thing I loved about the Owl was the food. While Ireland isn’t known for culinary excellence, I found the Owl’s food to be excellent and the portions to be right. The food was so good that I made it a typical first date destination. I’d especially recommend visiting on St. Patrick’s Day. Multiple bands, the proper Irish spirit and an environment that can’t be beat. You won’t find troublemakers passing out from too much green Miller Lite, just people who appreciate the Irish culture and want to celebrate the right way. Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

Kells Irish PubKells Irish Restaurant & Pub is definitely an amazing place to visit during St Patrick’s Day. I visited this pub with friends last year and they lived up to their slogan “Home of the largest St. Patrick’s Irish Festival in the Northwest”. The green beer was flowing and the songs were being sung out loud and proud. Located in Post Alley around the historic Pike Place Market, Kells is a great way to spend some time with friends after a hard day at work or to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The pub is always buzzing and filled with life no matter what time you go. The restaurant gives you a taste of Ireland and also the culture that you would encounter if you were to visit. The outside seating is also great because it puts you in the middle of Pike Place Market and you can people watch and take in the buzz of the city. If you are looking for a great single malt scotch, this is the place to come to; they have a great collection and are very proud of it. This is definitely one of Seattle’s best Irish pubs when it comes down to celebrating St. Patty’s, I urge you to try it. Come Join Us Irish Or Not On Saint Patrick’s Day At O’Blarney’s Irish Pub In Olympia, WA

Eating & Drinking Places, Saint Patrick's Day / No Comments

O'Blarney's Irish PubThis Saint Patrick’s Day I will be going to O’Blarney’s Irish Pub in Olympia. They have numerous entrees to choose from such as burgers, steak, and chicken. There is plenty of beer on tap or by bottle so no matter what your taste is there is something for you. The reason I like them so much is because the bartenders treat me like family there. They like to joke a lot and have a good time so you get a whole lot more for your money than just the beer alone. My friends all like to come here as well, they call it the hangout spot to drink and meet girls. I will make sure and wear some green on Saint Patrick’s Day because the patrons get a little rough if you forget and I do not need a lot of pinches. One other thing I like about this place is the pool tables and large televisions so you can drink, play pool with your buddies and relax. If you are looking for a place to spend Saint Patrick’s Day and you have not made up your mind yet I would highly recommend you stop at O’Blarney’s you will have a jolly green time. For A Romantic Valentine’s Dinner, Try Zorba’s In Downtown Oak Harbor, WA

Posted by tluke on February 08, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Valentine's Day / No Comments

Zorba'sZorba’s Mediterranean, Greek, and Italian Restaurant in Oak Harbor, WA is a small, intimate restaurant. The walls are painted a warm sepia and the floors are tiled Mediterranean-style. At night, the lights are dimmed and the tables candlelit. The wait staff is courteous and professional. With its menu of fine wines and its delicious cuisine, Zorba’s is the perfect choice in its small-town setting for a Valentine’s date. For an appetizer I would recommend the freshly made Hummus, which is served with equally fresh, warm pitas, or the Spanakopita, a flaky Greek pastry stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. For your main course, I would recommend the Souvlaki, Steak, or Salmon. Each of these items is served with an array of sides, including rice, roast potatoes, veggies, pita or garlic bread, and a Greek or tossed salad. The Greek salad is a blend of fresh romaine, veggies, olives, tomatoes, feta, and croutons made fresh in the restaurant. Both salads are perfect with the house dressing (a blend of olive oil and herbs). You can usually get extras of one if you wish to give up another. If none of this appeals to you, you also have a wide range of pastas to choose from. Some personal favorites include the Athenian spaghetti – noodles sautéed in olive oil and garlic and topped with three cheeses – and the chicken fettucini with grilled chicken breast and mushrooms in alfredo sauce. Take your loved one to Zorba’s for a relaxing, romantic, and delicious Valentine’s treat. She’ll love you even more! Eating & Drinking Places / No Comments

Jenny's CafeJenny’s Cafe is incredibly family friendly, which makes it a great place for locals of Spokane, WA, to hang out with some friends and enjoy great food. The waitresses and workers are very friendly. In fact Jenny herself is one of the waitresses. She is a very caring and compassionate woman who often times throughout the year holds free dinners for the homeless of our town. She always has a smile on her face and is always upbeat and positive. Her menu is all original and she cooks everything fresh everyday. Her coffee is the best and you can be sure you will never have an empty cup. She has a group of regular customers but she welcomes strangers as if they are friends too. The normal small town gossip goes around but it is usually about who is getting married or who is having another grandchild. She has been in business for several years now and has built a reputation for having fair prices and good food, as well as good company. You never go away hungry from her place. At breakfast time she has a hash brown special which includes all the hash browns you can eat when you order off the breakfast menu. Overall it is good food served in a good atmosphere with reasonable prices. To find other great places in your area, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

Set The Mood This Valentine’s Day at Henri’s In Longview, WA

Eating & Drinking Places, Valentine's Day / No Comments

Henri's RestaurantMy wife and I had heard nothing but good things about Henri’s in Longview, so last year we decided to give them a shot on Valentine’s Day. I called about a month in advance and made reservations for one of their private booths. I figured because it was Valentine’s Day that the place would be swamped but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had everything under control by providing plenty of staff. There’s nothing worse than having to wait 45 minutes for your meal on Valentine’s Day. The first thing I noticed when we were taken to our seats was the wonderful atmosphere. The lights were dimmed, candles lit and the tables sprinkled with real rose pedals. It was definitely a great first impression! I ordered the Chicken and my wife ordered the Roast Duck. They were both absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, the vegetables warm and buttery and the mashed potatoes were just like Grandma had made them. Not to mention the free cheesy garlic bread they serve you while you wait for your meal! I could load up on that stuff all night long! I have since been back to Henri’s two times and both were a blast. They have a very friendly and outgoing staff and besides having a great restaurant to take your wife, they also have a bar to hang out with your friends with live music from time to time. There’s no question that I would recommend this place to anyone! To find other great places this Holiday, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.

The Highline Athletic Club – Everything A Gym Lover Needs In Burien, WA

Posted by tluke on February 03, 2010
Personal Care & Services / No Comments

Highline Athletic ClubThe Highline Athletic Club is a great place for people to work out. They have tons of ammenities that are available to you. It’s slightly pricy, but like my dad always says, “You get what you pay for”. They have a great indoor pool with different water exercise classes. Also, in the pool area is a hot tub, a dry sauna and a wet sauna. Personally, wet saunas are hard to breathe in and a dry sauna scorches my behind! When you walk in you can see a full board of names and pictures of the employees and what they do; that way you can pick the teacher you want for classes. They offer various amounts of classes such as cycling, water aerobics, and dancing. There’s a machine for every single muscle you can exercise, guaranteed! Beyond the machines you’ll find a gym with pickle ball courts and a basketball court. On the outer rim of the gym you’ll find a room for spinning, a room for kids and boxing, a room for tennis and many other things! Above that they have a track you can run around, a stretching room and some empty rooms in case you need some extra space to yourself. What I like about the gym is I was always curious about some classes, but never had the guts to ask. The way they built the gym, you can see into the lower rooms from the upper track. One day I walked around the track and looked at all the classes I wanted to take. I would recommend this gym – go join today! Awesome Australia Pies From The Australian Pie Co. In Burien, WA

Posted by tluke on January 27, 2010
Eating & Drinking Places, Retail Stores / No Comments

Australian Pie Co.The Australian Pie Company has gourmet meat pies that are an authentic staple in Australian cuisine. They also have a small Australian goods section to buy imported items from the everyday Australian grocery store. The Aussie Pie Co. offer ground beef, ground chicken, and vegetarian pies along with sausage rolls and spinach rolls that are wrapped in the special puff pastry . It is sold in the store as well. Some stores such as the Metropolitan Market sell individual meat pies in the frozen section. When I went to go find it, it’s in the middle of Burien on 152nd street. The employees are great. The owner, Angus, is Australian and has quite a sense of humor. The store in general gives you a different feeling. It’s like walking straight into the outback! The food is fun to watch when it’s being made. There’s a huge pot that someone makes the dough in. It looks like they have to stick their whole body inside it! My recommendation would be meat and potatoes, maybe with some cheese? To the confused, I would describe them as similar to pot pies, but ten thousand times better. Go now! You won’t regret it ! Georgia's Greek DeliGeorgia’s Greek Restaurant is truly a unique and wonderful place to visit. They have a phenomenal menu with many Greek favorites such as saganaki, souvlaki, and of course they have gyros! They also have a wonderful selection of Greek wines, including the traditional retsina. Of course what Greek meal isn’t complete without a piece of baklava!
