The Princeton Center for Yoga and Health (PCYH) is one of my favorite places to visit during my free time. I like the fact that I can drop in almost any time of day and participate in a class, from 5:45 am to 9:00 pm. The Center offers over 50 yoga classes per week, as well as workshops and events on weekends. Each class is unique. I’ve been taking yoga classes for several years, but whenever I take a class here, I’m sure to learn something new. Two weeks ago, I took a class on postures for core strength and flexibility, which focused on twists that gradually relax the joints. Recently I took a restorative yoga class which was accompanied by the sound of ringing crystal bowls. This was one of the most unique classes I’ve taken and one of the most enjoyable ways of de-stressing I’ve ever experienced. The teachers go the extra mile to make the classes enjoyable for all students, offering modified postures for beginners and deeper postures for those looking for a challenge. Teachers welcome questions, and I’ve noticed that they usually allow extra time at the end of the class for one-on-one questions. Although each class is unique, I’ve found that they all help students get fit while having fun. They all aim to improve the student’s overall health and harmony of body, mind, and spirit. Every once in a while, I am in dire need of pure relaxation. Nirvana Spa in Surfside, FL is my first choice for a great spa experience. I enjoy the attitude of the employees there, and their massage therapists are amazing! I also enjoy the Russian Steam Room, and of course, the cold plunge. They have a beauty salon that I visit for a nice, relaxing pedicure after the spa. The hairstylists are truly talented and very friendly. I have also signed myself up for the yoga classes that are available. Their yoga room is so relaxing and peaceful. It is beautifully put together and the teachers are amazing. Personally, I do not think going to any other spa would be an option for me. I am so used to the people and their great personalities that Nirvana has become the perfect method of relaxation. It is located right on the beach, which is a prime location if you are looking for a day of peaceful relaxation. This is one of my favorite spas in Miami, and I openly suggest it to anyone that wants a great experience. To find other peaceful destinations like this, go to globalYP.net, an online directory.
The Highline Athletic Club is a great place for people to work out. They have tons of ammenities that are available to you. It’s slightly pricy, but like my dad always says, “You get what you pay for”. They have a great indoor pool with different water exercise classes. Also, in the pool area is a hot tub, a dry sauna and a wet sauna. Personally, wet saunas are hard to breathe in and a dry sauna scorches my behind! When you walk in you can see a full board of names and pictures of the employees and what they do; that way you can pick the teacher you want for classes. They offer various amounts of classes such as cycling, water aerobics, and dancing. There’s a machine for every single muscle you can exercise, guaranteed! Beyond the machines you’ll find a gym with pickle ball courts and a basketball court. On the outer rim of the gym you’ll find a room for spinning, a room for kids and boxing, a room for tennis and many other things! Above that they have a track you can run around, a stretching room and some empty rooms in case you need some extra space to yourself. What I like about the gym is I was always curious about some classes, but never had the guts to ask. The way they built the gym, you can see into the lower rooms from the upper track. One day I walked around the track and looked at all the classes I wanted to take. I would recommend this gym – go join today! To find other great places, visit globalYP.net, a local online directory.
Elements is a wonderful consignment shop located in historic downtown Owosso, MI at 117 W Exchange St. Owned and operated by Lorie White, this wonderful family business buys, sells and trades tons of cool things – ranging from antiques, jewelry, art, clothing, movies, music and more! I even managed to snag an original Michael Jackson record from the 80’s just a few months before his death, ironically. This is a wonderful family store and has tons of potential gifts that would be perfect for someone you know, if not many people. Elements is located smack dab in the middle of downtown Owosso, so it is fairly easy getting there and no hassle at all to walk on a nice day. Among consignment, Elements offers other special activities on a weekly basis, including yoga, meditation and book readings. Having personally attended several of these, I can recommend them to you with confidence. If you’re ever visiting from out of town, this store is quite the catch and would be wonderful to visit. There’s also a close-knit sense of community around here, so you’re bound to thoroughly enjoy yourself. So make sure to stop in the next time you’re in the mid-Michigan region and say hello to Lorie and friends! Yoga Vida is an excellent place for those interested in expanding their yoga experience, and it is great for all levels of yoga practice (beginner – advanced). Located over a lush ravine, Yoga Vida offers the serenity desired for yoga practice in the middle of the city. The one thing that attracted me to this studio, above the many others, is the free “hot” yoga class offered every Friday at 6:30 pm. It’s a convenient time, location and a new yoga experience for those unfamiliar with hot yoga. My first visit to Yoga Vida was such a pleasant one. The staff was so welcoming, and I got an amazing workout. The studio itself is a vast open space surrounded with windows. As you peer outside at the greenery, the birds and the trees, you sweat out all the toxins and stress of your week, renewing your body and mind. The practice truly enables me to forget the difficult week, focus on my body, clear my mind and renew my spirit. It has been known for years the vast benefits of yoga on the body and some say adding the element of heat further releases tired bodies and minds. It is easy to visualize yourself literally pouring out the negative energy that has built up inside, leaving you cleansed and able to grow. Students can enter and leave whenever they please, furthering this individualized practice. Upon leaving, free mini Luna bars are provided. Don’t forget to bring lots of water, and an extra towel! Don’t forget to check out globalYP.net, yellow pages that are online.
The Beverly Art Center is a cultural gem in the Beverly/Morgan Park neighborhood of Chicago. There are a number of benefits to visiting the center. The first huge benefit of the Beverly Arts Center is the art. This is the place to go for art created by South Side residents. There is a wealth of talent on the South Side of Chicago and visiting the Beverly Arts Center allows you to view it. The Beverly Arts Center is also known as a place to catch a movie. These are movies that are current and often family friendly. Movies at the Beverly Art Center allow residents to stay in the neighborhood to catch a show rather than drive forever. After the movie, many hit the classy martini bar or the nearby restaurant for a night time dessert. Another benefit of the Beverly Arts Center is all of the classes offered there. If an exercise class is your desire, the Beverly Arts Center has yoga classes, Pilates classes and more. If art is your speed, you can take a ceramics class or try another medium. Overall the Beverly Arts Center is a great asset to the community and worth a visit. GlobalYP.net, an online directory, is great for finding places in your community, and it’s worth a visit too.
